One-Bedroom Condo Just Steps from the Beach

  We rent from this condo a few times a year and love that it is so close to the beach! The condo is always perfectly clean and ready for our arrival. Working with the owner has been so easy. My dogs also love it here.

  The condo was beautiful and right on the water. But, this place should be advertised as a sleeps two, not four. The hide-a-bed was sinking, literally caving in, and in poor shape. It was missing half the springs that hold the mattress up, and was unsleepable, and two of us had to sleep on the floor. Other than that, it had a nice communal hot tub and stunning views.

  Pros: Closest unit to the beach, and fairly level terrain to walk to the beach. You are able to see partial views of the Ocean from the front window and side window. Nice beachy decor throughout the condo. Nice level grassed area off patio to walk a small dog. Kitchen had most everything needed, some spices were lacking. Games if you have kids, books, and magazines about the area. Hairdryer Cons: No phone. Even cheap motels provide a phone. Picture window in living room had diagonal blinds, of which 7 slats were missing. This created big gaps. Someone could look in, but you can't tell because its so dark out there. This is also where the Hideabed is. The patio door only locked "sometimes", but the front door is corroded by the weather and is hard to lock/unlock. The master bedroom did not have curtains over the mini-blinds. SO the bright front porch light, shown into the room keeping my elderly Mom awake. I finally had to drape a sheet the best I could over it. No wall or bedside clock in bedroom. Master Bed was very high. Not appropriate for elderly people and I did not think to ask about it when booking. A journal for visitors was left there. From 2005 and several more statements on how horrible the HIDEABED WAS. Forward 7 yrs. I was there on business and needed 3 or 4 star "sleeping accomodations", I paid for such. The first night I ended up sleeping on the floor! It was to late to get another condo since my money had been sent off to the owner, and I had no INTERNET service to even look elsewhere. I got a password to sign in, and the manager said it was hit and miss. I got the miss. Antique furnishings are cute--but not functional. Bedroom dresser drawers were sticking, and one knob feel off when I tried to open it, others were loose. The dryer had bed sheets left in it, no big deal but I did pay $50 for housecleaning-and then they left an envelope for a cleaning tip. First they need to learn how to clean out the large brown stains in the kitchen sink and leave the little tiny bottles in the bathroom (i.e) shampoo and conditioner. My mom and I "both" forgot to bring ours. Dryer takes 2 cycles to dry. They supplied 1 dryer sheet. If you have allergies, you might want to bring your own laundry soap. The flake soap was lavender scented. FAKE GAS FIREPLACE. Overall I was totally exhausted, with an aching body, but my Mom (88) loved the fact she got to see the beach, probably for the last time and actually walked to the beach by herself.

  Owner response: Thank you for your response. As you may realize, we are not a hotel but rather a condo which owners rent out. We try to accommodate requests from renters, and fill in the holes that they tell us about, and appreciate the feedback. We have never heard about most of the issues which you raised. In regards to the request for a landline, most people use their cell phones so this has never been an issue. In over seven years of renting our unit, we have never been told that the bed is too high, and we have had many elderly people stay there. We have also never has complaints about the gas fireplace, which is actually electric. Again, always welcome feedback about our unit!

  Unit was well equipped, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We loved that it was so close to the ocean, but the view was upstructed by the high sand dune in front. The rest of the complex was really beautiful. We did not like having to walk to the clubhouse to use the grill. Some grills should be located closer to the condos. We enjoyed exploring the Westport area since we hadn't been there for many years. The Maritime Museum was very nice, especially the lighthouse lamp that was on display. We walked to the top of the Westport lighthouse; also worth the trip. We had an enjoyable time at the Westport Winery. We tasted their surprising good wine, then had a lovely lunch in the restaurant. The artwork on the grounds was nicely displayed. We had two nice dinners at Half Moon Restaurant in Westport and also enjoyed our dinner at Odysseus which is located just blocks from the condo. One Eyed Crab's seafood chowder was the best we tasted.

  My husband and I needed a short get away from daily life and I ran across this condo in Westport. This was our first time renting a place like this and we were SO amazed. It was nice, no it was WONDERFUL!! We felt like we were home. It was so nice to be so close to the ocean. It was clean and had everything we needed plus more. I would recommend it to anyone. The owners were so nice and came through with everything. I will not stay anywhere else.

  What a wonderful place to get away from the "rat race" and enjoy the peace and quiet in a beautiful setting! Very comfortable, clean and spacious condo and greatly appreciated the acceptance of pets throughout the property. Thanks for letting us share your home and we will be back!

  We found the description to be accurate, the photos just like it is, clean, and well maintained. Spacious, nice bed and lots of amenities in the kitchen. It's ground level so not a full view of the ocean while sitting however it's a nice quiet area and just a short walk to the beach. The owner was very helpful and prompt. Early June is a good time to get away - not too crowded. The Westport Winery is a must - great wine and good food at the restaurant as well as goodies for a picnic to go!

  This condo is the only way to go!!! It is cozy and decorated beautifully. Perfect for a getaway and stocked with everything you could want. Just bring your clothes and you're good to go. Thanks for a great getaway find, Wendy!!! We'll be back!!!

  Just spent two nights in this condo and is was exactly what we expected. Great distance from the beach, clean and well maintained property and the owner is very helpful. Don't think twice before renting this unit!

  Recently spent three nights here. Condo looks just like the photos. All the amenities of home. Owner very easy to work with. Beach is literally steps away. Dog heaven here - miles of beach for off-leash romping. One Eyed Crab great restaurant for seafood.
