Great place to stay

My wife and I returned to Palm Springs and once again stayed at La Casita. The place is like home when you walk in the door and the back yard/pool area is heavenly. The location could not be better as we could walk to shop, eat at many, many locations, take very quiet walks to secluded areas of the neighborhood, walk to a trail head that leads up the mountain, walk to meet friends of Bill W. (2 locations), etc. A car is not necessary unless you want to explore other areas for recreation and other dining spots. Nick is most helpful if the need arises and answered all of our questions about the area. We will return.

Enjoyed this vacation rental with my sister's and Mom for a 3 night stay. Couldn't of asked for more! The house exceeded our expectations...loved the backyard pool/spa and hammocks as well as the inside decor. Beds were also comfortable. A major bonus was the very close proximity (easy walking distance) to the main strip of downtown Palm Springs - shopping and dining out couldn't have been more convenient. We hope to return next summer! Thank you Nick!

Unique and comfortable home

Six of us were fortunate enough to have spent a week at La Casita. The home is charming and very adorable. Within no time, it really felt like our home, not merely a rental accomodation. The backyard with the pool (mineral, not chlorine), hot tub, table, chairs, loungers, sun umbrellas and hammocks was the most restful place we have ever been. Just lying in the hammocks made you feel like you were relaxing at the finest spa. The house itself, was very comfortable and really did seem larger than it looked. There were plenty of towels, sheets, pillows, dishes, glasses, etc.. I can't say enough about Nick. ANYTIME there was an issue, he was immediately reachable on his cell phone, and was willing to do whatever it took to make it right. The issues were minor, and quickly resolved. He was even kind enough to leave us some Ralph cards so that we could receive the discounts on our groceries. The neighbourhood is perfect. Very close, easy walk to downtown. Also, very good value for 6 people, who otherwise would have had to stay in 3 hotel rooms. The only minor flaw, in the otherwise perfect scenario, was the housekeeping was not perfect. My husband and I did spend about 1/2 an hour cleaning the outside lawn furniture and dusting the inside, and then it was perfect.( But, I am very particular) But, to Nick's credit, all the cleaning supplies were there, even including laundry supplies, some kitchen staples, and some really fun floatation devices for the pool. We had some relatives staying close by, and they came over with the grand-children, and it was so great to be able to position the big sun umbrellas that were in the backyard to cast shade on the pool, so that the little ones could play in the pool. Just great. We all had a wonderful time. Thank you so very much Nick for being such a great owner.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the sixteen photos accompanying this property description do indeed represent 16,000 of the best, and we need add very little else. Had a fabulous two-week stay in November and would recommend the experience of living in this charming and classy home to anyone wishing to enjoy all that Palm Springs and vicinity has to offer. Try it -- you will absolutely love it.

My family and I stayed here the last weekend in Sept of 10' and loved every minute of our stay. Great location and extremely close (walking distance, 2 Blocks) to downtown Palm Springs. Clean, very well maintained and just the right size. The salt water pool was our favorite. Didn't spend too much time inside other than sleeping. Would stay here again. Thank you Nick!

Great rental

Date of Stay: 07/03/10 Review Submitted: 07/13/10

We spent a week in this house from July 3rd -10th, 2010. The house is great, WiFi worked great, the beds are all comfortable (I had to sleep in them all at one point or another), the linens are lovely and the pool and backyard patio is sensational and private. Low key, low maintenance desert landscaping was lovely. Our two kids (ages 3 & 6) loved the house and the pool and were safe going in an out of the house because of a door alarm beeps when someone leaves the house. We also appreciated the location as it is one block off S. Palm Canyon Drive and was an easy walk to good shops and restaurants, though you could take a car and still not have a problem parking. We had a rental car but it was nice to get out and walk around a bit after supper. The neighborhood is nice and there are a few famous residences located nearby so you know that it's a "good neighborhood". Melvyn's famous restaurant, bar and hotel is located at the end of the next block and Liberace's place is about 2 blocks in the other direction. Elvis' place is about a mile away. This property is well worth the price of the rental in a safe and picturesque location.

Absolutely Wonderful

Myself and 6 other women (25-29 yrs old) stayed here for a bachelorette weekend, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The pictures don't do La Casita justice. It has been immaculately restored into this quaint little spanish paradise. Loved the pool and the set up with each room having it's own acces to the yard! All you need is a suitcase full of swimsuits, sunscreen, and a good bottle of tequila (food is optional). True to it's description, it is only 2 blocks from downtown! The owner was more than helpful, and had some amazing recommendations! We are definitely coming back!!!

La Casita is the perfect desert getaway! Great location, secluded and yet still walking distance to the heart of downtown Palm Springs (coffee shops, restaurants, museums, bars, casino...). Backyard is unbelievable - all 8 could probably just sleep out there. The house is much more spacious than the pictures portray and Nick has done an amazing job at adding unique and stylish personal touches. I recently spent a weekend with a group of 6 for an organizational retreat and we had a fantastic time. We enjoyed meals both home (great BBQ in the backyard and the kitchen has all of the necessary amenities) as well as out on the town. (Try TRIO) Highly recommend staying at La Casita the next time you want to visit Palm Springs. I actually live only a few miles from La Casita, yet would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Small piece of paradise in Palm Springs.

We just returned home from our second stay at this property. The property was neat and clean with all the amenities that we desired. The large salt water pool and spa were great to relax in and enjoy the beautiful yard and mountain views while floating. We walked every night to all the action in downtown Palm Springs since the house is only two blocks away the heart of everything. The owner is very friendly and goes out of his way to make certain you have a good time. We will certainly return again to La Casista.

Had an amazing weekend at this world-class property. The location is unparalleled--perfect for anyone who plans to take advantage of downtown offerings or even just a morning walk to Starbucks. The pool and spa are beautiful and the property really has everything you could hope for. I would stay here again in a heart-beat and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a desert getaway. (It looks smaller than it actually is, roomy enough to easily sleep 8.)

Greatest Palm Springs Getaway!

Guest: Pami G. (Temecula area)
Date of Stay: 05/10/10 Review Submitted: 05/15/10

Just got back from 4 perfect days and nights at La Casita. This is the greatest getaway for those who want to just relax in a beautiful private pool and spa, while enjoying the fantastic close-up view of the mountain, and WALK to all the Palm Springs shops and fantastic restaraunts! I wanted to move in, but will happily settle for knowing we will be going back in the near future. My husband and I have rented several vacation homes from VRBO, all wonderful experiences, but felt most at home at La Casita. Nick, the owner makes sure everything is clean and operating perfectly for you before you check in, meets you upon your arrival at the house to give you a quick orientation, and is available if you have questions during your stay. We highly recommend this home for the perfect Palm Springs experience, soooo much better than a hotel! I would recommend you bring binnoculars (the mountain is fascinating with lots to look at, and there is great bird watching right there from the yard!), and if interested, check on nearby bike rentals, or if able, you might want to bring your own as this will allow even more widespread sightseeing without a car! Try to be there for Palm Springs famous Thursday night street fair (every Thurs.) as it is some of the greatest people watching ever, there is great food, local crafts, live music, live art displays, and lots of great local stuff to see and buy, and it is only 2 blocks away! Enjoy, we did!

Great vacation home

Date of Stay: 05/01/10 Review Submitted: 05/24/10

My wife and I stayed at Nick's vacation home the first week of May, 2010. The location could not be better for someone wanting to visit Palm Springs. We only used our vehicle to travel outside the Palm Springs area - otherwise we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The home is only a couple blocks off Palm Canyon drive but it seems very secluded and private. The home had everything we needed for our 7 day stay and the pool/back yard area was fabulous. Lots of privacy with mature landscaping and a privacy wall surrounded the entire area. The pool and hot tub are located just outside double doors coming from the master bedroom and the other two bedrooms had doors leading to the outside as well. The house was well designed and could easily accomodate more people. It was spotless inside and Nick was available to answer questions during our visit. We will stay here on our next visit to Palm Springs........jim and lynn

A great vacation home!

We stayed in this great vacation home in October 2009. The location is perfect for enjoying downtown Palm Springs -- a very easy walk to Palm Canyon Drive. We went for walks at least twice every day. But the best thing about this house is the back yard. Despite being "downtown," the back yard is quite private and extremely restful. There's a townhouse complex to the south, but no one ever seemed to be around the unit right next to this property and privacy is enhanced by some well-placed landscaping. We spent a lot of time in the back yard. Not only did we enjoy the pool, spa and the sunshine, but also we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and the sunsets. Perhaps most amazing was how quiet this neighborhood is in the evening. Sitting in the back yard and soaking in the spa, you would never know that the main drag of Palm Springs is only a couple of blocks away. It was so quiet that our sleep was never disturbed. We have been using VRBO to locate vacation homes for years and this is one of our favorites. We have stayed in some duds and this house definitely is not a dud. We would not hesitate to stay here again on another trip to Palm Springs. And for those who care (like we do), the pool and spa worked fine (we have stayed in places where the pool or spa never seem to even get warm). All the other appliances worked, too. The owner has done a great job in upgrading this property (it's even nicer than it looks in the photos). Staying here makes so much more sense than staying in a hotel.

The house looks cute, little and cozy from the front, but it's actually a surprisingly spacious and very comfortable place. There were six of us staying here for a long weekend and we never felt like we were on top of each other. It's beautifully decorated with a sort of "updated southwestern" (ie: cool, not tacky) style, with everything you could need. The backyard and pool area are quite large and very private, and it's a HUGE plus to have stunning mountain views (the mountains are literally RIGHT THERE) while floating in the pool or laying on one of the hammocks. But the best thing about this place is the location, just steps from restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife, the museum, hiking trails. You're just two or three blocks from everything, and yet you've got a totally quiet and private retreat. We love this place!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! This home is truly within two blocks of downtown. It was nice not to have to get in our cars to go anywhere. The house was very clean and had everything that you would need for your stay and the beds were very comfortable and cozy. Pool area was nice, as were the hammocks for lounging. Thank you Nick for a great house and wonderful experience!!
