The Fox Den is located in Old Aiken; within walking distance to Aiken Mile Track, Ford Conger Field, Whitney Polo Field, Track Kitchen, Hitchcock Woods and Hopeland Gardens just to name a few. Walk to Aiken's famous spring/fall Steeplechase and Trials. The elegant winter colonies located in the historic district are just a few steps away.
The roads are left unpaved to accommodate the wonderful equestrian community that Aiken is so well known for. Bring your horses and enjoy riding in beautiful Hitchcock Woods. Stables are within a ten minute walk from The Fox Den located in the horse district.
Charming downtown Aiken is just two miles away. Several fine restaurants, art galleries and quaint shops are available during your stay. Many unique antique shops as well.
Constructed in 1953 the Fox Den has recently undergone a complete renovation. The new, fully stocked kitchen is great for entertaining. The kitchen is open to the dining room with French doors leading to a brick patio. Seating for 6 at the dining room table, two at the bar in the kitchen. Exterior seating for four at the wrought iron patio table, complete w/umbrella. The charming, shaded back yard is perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktails (ample bar ware). Two wood burning fireplaces, one in the living room, the second in the library make for a cozy winter retreat. Throw blankets included. Hardwood floors thru-out except in the kitchen and baths (tiled), new carpet in the library. The Fox Den is 2400 heated square feet complete with nine rooms, not including the two full baths and an attached single car garage. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC updates, all new interior and exterior paint completed July 2008. Yard maintenance, utilites and two adult bikes included in rental price.
