Turning Beyond Ranch is centrally located between Mesa Verde National Park and Durango, Colorado on Highway 160 and 5 miles south of Highway 160 on County Road 105. The meandering county road follows picturesque Cherry Creek along the canyon’s valley floor passing cattle and horse ranches along the way.
The location offers solitude, scenery, and wild life sightings. If you choose to pursue outdoor activities, they may include but are not limited to hunting (in season), horseback riding, ATV riding, paint ball contests, hiking, mountain biking. Many mountain bike enthusiasts enjoy a circle route down the canyon into the small community of Red Mesa with a stop at the popular Red Mesa Baker, up to the mountain community of Hesperus, and then back to the Ranch via Highway 160. There are fishing opportunities at local reservoirs and rivers nearby.
Bring your horse or ATV to carry you from the canyon floor to the mesa top for outstanding unlimited views and wild life sighting opportunities. At the end of the day you’ll have a hot shower, comfortable bed and your horse will be secure in his own pen. (Appropriate vaccinations, coggins tests and travel papers required.)
Our unique location will allow you to visit the popular tourist town of Durango, the high desert town of Cortez with its varied archeological sites, or fill your shopping desires from the hub of the Four Corners – Farmington, New Mexico – all within an hour’s drive.
Turning Beyond Ranch provides beef and pork to selected area restaurants and retail shops. You can take advantage of our naturally raised products for your charcoal grilling at the Bunkhouse; call ahead to reserve your favorite cuts. As the growing season progresses, produce will be available from our garden.
