Why the Owner Chose Hiawassee
We looked at homes on other lakes in both the Carolinas but when we saw the Lake Chatuge area, we immediately knew this was the lake for us! Surrounded by mountains, it was the most beautiful lake we had seen and there is so much to do in the immediate area. Our home is located on 3.5 private (mostly wooded) acres in a nice, quiet, high-end community, which we appreciate. We enjoy sharing our fabulous find with others and hope you'll love it as much as we do!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
Our home is located on 3.5 wooded and private acres, yet it's easy to get to with any kind of vehicle. We have gorgeous views, lots of windows, and no visible neighbors. We are six miles from Hiawassee, 25 minutes from Crane Creek Winery and there is a lot to do in the area, including boat rental and other lake-related activities. Our home offers all the creature comforts of home in a beautiful mountain setting we know you'll love!
Owner's Map of Hiawassee
We are a professional couple with no children, who love getting away to the peace and serenity of the mountains, and spending relaxing fun times with family and friends. Bella Vista is the perfect place for us to spend time with people we love & we feel blessed to be able to share it with others.
Our home is our sanctuary and on 3.5 private acres, surrounded by natural beauty, it can't be beat. Songbirds, hummingbirds and wildlife are frequent visitors to our getaway retreat and when we're there, we feel so at peace and relaxed. We know you will too!

Cecil & Anne - Lilburn, GA Monica & Ed Thanks for a wonderful few days. This was a great place to celebrate Cecil's birthday. The house is fantastic. We have stayed in a lot of different VRBO's in several states and this is definitely the best supplied and equipped we have stayed in. The view is magnificent. Thanks again for the birthday card. We had a great time and plan to come back again soon.
Owner response:Thank you Cecil and Anne for such a lovely review! We are so glad you enjoyed your time in our home and you are most welcome for the birthday card! We hope you'll come back again in the spring or summer to enjoy the warm weather! Hugs, Monica and Ed

Monica and Ed - My husband and I want to thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us Nov. 5-7th! Words cannot describe what a great experience we had. The weather was great and we enjoyed the incredible views. Your directions were perfect and we had no problem finding Bella Vista. The kitchen was stocked so that we didn't have to buy spices and condiments that we would only use once or twice. We've rented cottages and condos in Tennessee, Florida, and North Carolina and none could compare to yours! We felt like we were staying at a friend's house. We regret that we stayed only 2 nights. Bella Vista was our first stop on our week long journey throughout North Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina and the rest of the accomodations, while very nice, did not live up to Bella Vista. You spoiled us! We hope to get back to your area again one day. When we do, we plan to rent Bella Vista for the entire time and make day trips from there. Again, thanks so much for your hospitality! Thank you so much for the recommendation for The Copper Door restaurant in Hayesville. It was perfect for birthday celebration. Food and service were excellent. We love thiis area and hope to reserve again sometime in next year. Thank you again for sharing and for all of the helpful info.

My husband and I stayed three nights at Bella Vista to celebrate our 7th Wedding Anniversary and the one comment I cannot emphasize enough is that three nights was not time enough to enjoy this remarkable place that Monica and Ed have created. They told us we would have an amazing experience and we believe that we had one of the most relaxing, wonderful anniversaries we have ever had in their home. We are very thankful that they share Bella Vista with others because personally I am not sure if could have a special place like this that I called home and could share it with others to enjoy! It is truly a place of comfort and you can tell by the moment you walk into the house that Monica and Ed have placed a lot of love into building a home that is very special in every way. The house is very clean, well- organized, stocked with everything you could possibly need and when Monica said “we could show up with just our clothes and not have to worry about anything else “ it’s really true! The communication we received from them was superb and we have rented a house every year on VBRO for Florida for family vacations so we have houses to compare the to. The information provided before and during the trip ( pamphlets and informational guides in the house) helped Steve and I plan what we wanted to do in the three nights. We rented a Pontoon Boat at Boundary Water Resort that Monica recommended and the lake trip was one of the best adventures. Lake Chatuge is incredible. The view at Crane Creek Winery is fascinating and the wine is even better- very thankful for the complimentary wine tasting coupons. The geese and two winery dogs that keep you company were a sight to see. The view you wake up to in the morning is breathtaking and the fact that my husband and I were able to indulge in the view, sounds and sightseeing of the hummingbirds everywhere was just remarkable plus the time we spent together basking in it all will be memories we can hold onto for a life time. We needed the relaxation with a toddler running around everywhere and Bella Vista is just what we needed to feel renewed all over again. Thank you Monica and Ed for everything. We will definitely highly recommend this rental to all of our friends and we will be returning next year for more fun! Steve and Misty
Owner response:We are so thrilled that you two had such a wonderful time in our home! We love being a part of special memories, and we can't wait for you to come back again! Thank you also for such a glowing review! :o) Monica and Ed

Monica and Ed, We once again loved your mountain retreat. The views are breathtaking. The breeze feels a little crisper and the air a little fresher than the valley. I cannot wait to visit your mountain retreat again. The cottage is immaculate, warm, and intimate. This was our second visit...looking forward to our third!
Owner response:SO happy you called to reserve your second visit & that everything was as you remembered. We look forward to your visit being an annual one! :o) Thanks again!

Our family had such a wonderful time at Bella Vista! We picked wild blackberries at the edge of the yard and thanks to the well-stocked kitchen were able to make a homemade cobbler for dessert. We fished in Lake Chatuge, played games and watched movies, even rented a boat to spend a day of fun on the water. This retreat is just that, a place to renew, reconnect and relax - no neighbors in site, except a rascally raccoon and some lovely hummingbirds. If you're looking for beautiful and peaceful - you'll find it at Bella Vista. Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us!

Monica was a delight to deal with. She was very responsive and easy to keep in communication with throughout our planning. The cabin was wonderful, the view absolutely spectacular. And they ordered new porch furniture so that will make it even more delightful. Everything was very welcoming-even some margarita mix to enjoy! The directions to the cabin were spot on and the drive up to the top was very nice. It is just 15-20 minutes to town, so the location is very convenient for food and restaurants. And there are several marinas close by for water activities. For a nice private getaway it is a winner!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for being flexible and helpful with the delivery of the new patio furniture. :o) We hope the wedding was wonderful and do come back again to enjoy the colors of fall or the first blooms of springtime! Monica and Ed

This was a very last minute trip and Monica and Ed were so helpful - many thanks! The cottage was incredible and the views were amazing. We instantly felt right at home and the informative binders were very helpful - especially since we had had no time to research the area for things to do and such. The cottage was equipped with every comfort that your own personal home would have so it was easy to slip into relaxation mode. The porch and deck provides the perfect spots for sliding into a chair to share a bottle of wine (purchased at one of the local wineries, of course!) with loved ones and watch the sun set for the evening. We absolutely loved our time there and only wish we could have stayed longer!
Owner response:Thank you so much for such a wonderful, glowing review! We are so glad you could make your last-minute accommodations with us at Bella Vista and we hope you'll come back again, perhaps in the fall to see the changing leaves! Monica and Ed :o)

The house was beautiful, well decorated and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook meals and the owners even provided some condiments There were plenty of towels and even shampoos, cream rinse and shower gel in the bathrooms. The view was amazing. My 9 month old grandson loved walking in his walker on the large deck around most of the house. We put bird seed out every morning on the deck and had many birds stop by for a bite. The house is centrally located so you can visit waterfalls, State parks and other places of interest. We went to Unicoi State Park for lunch and visited Anna Ruby Falls one day. We also drove to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park one day (about 1 1/2 hours away). Brasstown Bald Mountain is also very close. There is a nice grocery store (Ingles) 5-6 miles from the house and several restaurants in town. The owners were very responsive answering questions we had. My family really enjoyed our visit and hope to be able to visit again in the future.
Owner response:Thank you L & A for such a wonderful review! We are so glad you had such a nice time and shared so much of what you did with other potential guests! Hope you will come back again in the fall to see the changing colors of the leaves and enjoy the wonderful cool weather! ~Monica and Ed
