Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Val di Chiana, minutes from the picturesque hilltop town of Cortona, is "Casa bel Posto", a tranquil and charming Tuscan farmhouse conveniently located in southern Tuscany. Casa bel Posto boasts the perfect Tuscan getaway with the best of both worlds; located in the heart of the countryside with all the benefits of having a lively historical city nearby.
Casa bel Posto is secluded, completely fenced in a spacious yard with a delightful view of Cortona, has a considerably large swimming pool and is surrounded by small farms where you often find fields of vibrant sunflowers in the summer. The well-equipped 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment sleeps 6 comfortably and is located on the entire bottom floor of the farmhouse with its own private entrance.
The Casa bel Posto vacation apartment has been designed with style and convenience in mind; each bedroom is individually themed and artistically decorated to make you feel at home in a "B&B" like setting. The kitchen comes fully equipped with appliances, cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, silverware, etc.; everything necessary to make you feel at home. The dining room, located in the same large open plan room as the kitchen, has a sizable rustic wood table that can easily seat ten people, perfect for entertaining. The living room is comfortable and spacious and thanks to the very thick stone walls the apartment stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There is a brand new Whirlpool washing machine in the rental unit. Bedding, towels, electricity and heating are included in the weekly rental rates, mid-week cleaning service can be arranged for a minimal fee. As additional amenities for our guests we also offer complimentary internet (Wi-Fi) which is accessible both from inside the apartment and outside on the property, even by the pool.
We highly encourage our guests to make use of the large yard where you can enjoy meals, dining al fresco at the outdoor dining table (seating 12), under the protective cover of umbrella pine trees while enjoying views of Cortona up on the hillside. There is also a charcoal barbeque on-site for guest use. The 24 ft. x 48 ft. swimming pool, open from May – October, is a cool refreshing break from the summer heat. Poolside you will find lounging chairs, inflatable mattresses and plenty of noodles to ensure maximum relaxation in the peaceful countryside setting. Two bicycles are available to guests for explorations of the nearby local farming community and rural country roads.
The delightful town of Cortona is just a few minutes drive from Casa bel Posto, perched dramatically on a hillside looking out over the Val di Chiana and Lago Trasimeno. Cortona has picturesque little streets, enchanting churches, museums, local shops and entertainment and well as a wide variety of delectable restaurants.
We will be happy to give you recommendations and help make reservations for local dining and give you advice on what to do or see in the area. We also operate Journey to Enlightenment Tours, a small custom-designed tour company specializing in the local area and can arrange personalized tours for you upon request.
Casa bel Posto is centrally located in southern Tuscany, 2.5 hours north of Rome, a little over an hour south of Florence, 45 minutes from Siena, 20 minutes from Montepulciano and Perugia and in easy reach of numerous other beautiful Tuscan towns. The property is just a few minutes from Camucia, where the main train station for Cortona is located, a stop on the Rome – Florence train line.

Everything you could want to see in central Tuscany is at your fingertips - 5 minutes from the main train line leading to Rome in 2.5 hours, Florence in just over 1 hour, 1/2 hour drive to Perugia for chocolate making, Montepulciano or Chianti for wine, Pienza for amazing cheese and countless little hilltop towns along the way. Less than an hour drive to Sienna (famous for it's horse races, the Palio), Montalcino for wine and many other towns. Plus we've explored the area for you, so we're ready to help with reservations, little out of the way spots to explore, hilltop towns to discover, small family-run wineries to see.

Tania is an American born Italian who has visited Italy almost every year of her life. With a passion for photography and a desire to be immersed in culture and art, she has always yearned to live in the country that engendered her artistic and vivacious personality. Keith is a techie who loves to travel, cook and intricate details of just about anything and was up for the challenge and change of life. Their shared love of travel, new adventures, wine and delectable local dishes made Tuscany the perfect destination. Porter the dog, well, he just likes food and companionship, probably in that order, but he also seems to be thoroughly enjoying his new life in Italy.

Casa Bel Posto is just that -- a house in a beautiful place! It seems removed from everything in its tranquility and yet so close to downtown Cortona and all its attractions. If you have a car and a sense of adventure, you can't go wrong -- the owners have explored every ounce of the historic relics and stores and restaurants and wineries nearby and can point you in the right direction with confidence. I'm looking forward to my next visit back in June, hopefully to spend long hours lounging in the gorgeous pool staring at the hilltop of Cortona!
