Our guests absolutely love this home and its unique location. No other rental in Central Oregon provides so many great recreational options - many within close walking distance.
The challenging Quail Run Golf Course and driving range (public) is directly across the road and the crystal clear trout-filled Little Deschutes River borders the rear of the property. The back yard features a large scenic pond.
Indoors, you can shoot pool, play foosball, have fun with free professional arcade games + big screen TV for arcade games, soak in the large hot tub, or watch movies on the big flat-screen TV while sitting in a massaging recliner.
The open-design home with vaulted wood ceilings is on a very private two-acre site. It has three large bedrooms plus an extra daybed in the game room, two full baths, a two-car garage, arcade room in the garage, and a shaded rear deck overlooking a pond.
The custom-built home has many large windows which bring wonderful light into the home. There are no close neighboring homes and the back yard has a constant parade of wildlife for viewing - you may see deer, elk, raccoons, otters, eagles, hawks, herons, wild geese and ducks, plus a fascinating assortment of smaller birds. Spring and fall are particularly good times for birdwatching, as the home site is on a major migration route.
The interior furnishings have all been chosen for maximum comfort - thick pillowtop mattresses, goosedown comforters, cushy sofa and overstuffed chairs, etc. The couches are new, comfortable and inviting. The home evokes a contemporary "rustic cabin" feel. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a wide variety of tools and utensils, dishwasher, microwave oven, blender, dishes, serving bowls, and silverware. All linens and bedding are provided.
Some comments from the guestbook:
"This was the perfect place for a big family get-together. Lots of fun things to do for all ages - never heard "I'm bored." (Port Angeles, WA)
"We had a great time. Loved the bunnies, otters, and birds. Weather was perfect. We floated, fished, kayaked at Sparks Lake, played in the snow at Todd Lake. So many things to do and see. Hope to find some property to buy in the area for our retirement." (Colusa and Marysville, California)
"We had a nice relaxing vacation at the Quail Rest home. The kids had a blast with the pool table and arcade. We look forward to coming here again. PS - Can't leave out the birds, bunnies, chipmunks, and prairie dogs! Just a very peaceful place." (Tacoma, WA & Portland, OR)
"This lovely home had everything! We took advantage of all it had to offer - horseshoes, pool, hot tub, bird watching, deer in the backyard, bunnies everywhere, dinner every night on the wonderful tree-covered patio. The fishing and golf were the #1 and #2 priorities and we were happy with both! This area has it all - we will be back!" (Seattle, Washington & Phoenix, Arizona)
"Thank you for the hospitality. We all had a great time. So many things to do - there was never a dull moment. Golfing was a blast and we couldn't keep the fish off the line at East Lake. See ya next year!" (Salem, Oregon and Boise, Idaho)
"Thank you for offering us such a perfect home for our family get-together. We loved the quail parade every morning, glorious sightings of Mt. Bachelor, the world's coziest beds, late-night pool hustling and hot tub soaking, more toys than we've played with since childhood, quick access to miles of piney trails under blue skies. We especially enjoyed your allowing our canine pal to join us. Your generosity has been just wonderful." (Corvallis and Portland, Oregon)
"We enjoyed it all! What a wonderful home. We floated the river, went to the lava caves and Twin Lakes, golfed, fished, shopped, bowled, went white-water rafting (that's a must). The kids (and us) enjoyed the arcade, pool table, and games. The home had everything! Thanks for a wonderful vacation - we highly recommend this home. (Lynnwood, WA)

We sincerely enjoyed our stay. There was so much room to spread out! Thank you so much for all the little extras ( plenty of towels, tissues everywhere, chili powder in the kitchen). Our dog loved the property! She doesn't want to go. Thank you!

Waking up in the morning and looking outside and seeing the beautiful scenery is the best. The kids loved all the activities provided for them, aka "game room"! The house is absolutely amazing. We even had a photographer come here to take our family photo. We will definitely be back again in the summer to enjoy the pond and wildlife. It has been a long time since I got my whole family together for a vacation and that meant the world to me. Thank you so much for your help in making that happen. God Bless...

This was a sweet return to Quail Rest. We were here 4 years ago with my parents. We lost my Mom 2 years ago, and seeing her entry in the guest book and remembering how she loved it here was sweet, and a little sad. I love shopping the offbeat stores in Bend and Sisters. My husband says East Davis Lake is his fave spot. Mine has to be incredible crater lake. Our standard poodle Finn loves everything! Thanks for giving us some beautiful memories.

We had 6 adults and 4 kids stay here for a family reunion last month. The home accomodated all ages and was well stocked with cooking essentials. We really liked the privacy and room to roam and play in the snow on the property. It was very well maintained and we enjoyed games off pool, the arcade, hot tub and extensive movie collection. We will definately be back again.

We had 6 people comfortably staying at this nice home. Although the address is in La Grande, the house is closer to Bachelor that you might think. If you have a couple of well behaved dogs, the owners are more than happy to have them stay too! I highly recommend.
Owner response:You are welcome back anytime - thanks for staying at Quail Rest. ps. the address is in LaPine. We are also right across the highway from Paulina Lake and the Newberry Caldera wilderness refuge. Tons of hiking, snow shoeing and summer acitivites abound. This is our 2nd home but we wish it was our first:)
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, pet owners.
