Why the Owner Chose Springville
We loved this beautiful area of the Sequoia/ Sierra that is closest to the LA area but largely undiscovered by tourists. After we committed to the "simple life' and moved from LA, we thought it would be great to use our skills from building sets in the film industry to recreate some neglected cabins that had great locations and lots of potential so that others might be able to enjoy this rich area comfortably.
The Bear Spring Cabins seemed like the ultimate set up for a fun vacation rental: new pool, private location with views adjacent to Giant Sequoia National Monument, architectural interior, and room for a game room. It needed a lot of upgrading and finishing but we had fun making the place into a mini family resort.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
The siting of these cabins on top of a hill with views and millions of acres of public land next door make it an ideal retreat, but is a short drive to the Giant Sequoia groves and the charming town of Springville.

A Great Retreat from the City with Two Teenage Boys

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bear Springs Cabins. The accommodations were clean and the floorplan is open and homey. Our two teenage boys definitely enjoyed having the guest cabin all to themselves. They hooked up all their electronics and kept their snacks in the refrigerator...preparing them for college dorm days! The spring fed pool was a welcomed relief from the heat and the pool table occupied all of us in the evenings. The night skies were awesome...something you don't see in Los Angeles often. Both cabins were well equipped and all in excellent condition. A great time was had by all and we will be back...maybe try one of the other cabins available.

We all had a lovely time at this property, it was clean and well kept and met with our expectations according to the photo and description of the cabins. The owner was helpful and friendly and allowed our daughter and children into the property before check-in, since they had to leave the LA area early because of the "carmagedon" upheaval that happened to occur on the weekend we had planned our get-a-way. The only problem was that the restaurant we planned on eating at was closed until further notice, so we can't recommend any eating places nearby. We would certainly recommend this property to friends and we plan on going back sometime in the future.

I planned a hiking trip with friends and the cabin and guest house worked perfect for the group of 8 of us. The cabin was better than it looked in the pictures, a rare occurrence from other vacation homes we have rented. The house was stocked with lots of extras which was a pleasant surprise. The location was perfect with easy access to hiking. Also, the pool was very welcomed after a long day on the trails. All of us in my group would definitely go with this cabin again for future trips to the area. In addition, prior to arriving, Shelly was VERY patient with all of my questions and offering advice on the area.

My family of four - my wife and I, our two sons (10 and 8) and our medium sized dog enjoyed four days here in February 2011. The property is a great size with a large fenced in yard/field. Our dog had so much fun exploring. This house really shines when it comes to the living areas. It's two bedrooms, but the living space is huge and varied. It has a massive great room with a tv/living area, large dining table, bar area around the kitchen and a quality game room with a high end Tornado foosball table and a well maintained, quality pool table. And I can't forget the backyard patio area, which is a nice place to just sit and relax. We hope to come back when it's warmer to enjoy the swimming pool as well. We spent most of our vacation hanging around the house. The upper forest roads were all closed, so we took a 20 minute or so drive down to the river and had alot of fun exploring the area. Thanks Shelly, we hope to come back here again!

We had a fantastic weekend at Bear Spring Cabin! The cabin is spacious and perfect for a getaway from it all. The game room was a big highlight for the entire family. There is so much to do, and the cabin is very well-appointed with everything you need. It is clean, neat, and comfortable. We definitely recommend Bear Spring Cabin and hope to go back soon!

We had a group of guys who have been friend since high school. One of the members of the group is getting married but instead of a typical bachelor party we wanted a quiet get away in the mountains that would be close to good hiking and would provide a nice atmosphere for laid back hanging out, playing board games, watching movies, etc. This place was perfect! It's a BEAUTIFUL cabin, packed with amenities, including all kinds of games, and comfortable places to lounge, inside and out. The cabin has it all, and it’s right next to some beautifully preserved land - you can even walk out the back gate straight into the National Forest! Whether you plan to get out much or not, the cabin is a destination in itself, especially fun for families and small groups. We loved the place so much we spent more time there than we'd expected to (instead of getting out). Everyone in our group would agree, we highly recommend it!

My family and I had the most wonderful vacation due in part to the stay at the Bear Creek Cabin. My husband, my two adult children and myself were so comfortable as the cabin was very beautiful in a french country theme much like our own home. I wouldn't have changed a thing. The explicitly defined origins of the town and area listed in the books provided at the home to the details of any and everything you could ever need in a home were all provided. The area is absolutely beautiful and very fulfilling. There is so much entertainment at the cabin as well as the sightseeing in the local area and surroundings. The weather was beautiful and the sound of nothing was music to our ears. We enjoyed the hummingbirds in the early a.m. on the back porch with our morning coffee and the pool table and foosball table in the evening. The Sequoia's were breathtaking and the Redwoods had us in awe. If at all possible, we will return for a more lengthy stay and I will suggest to all my friends for a peaceful and most beautiful vacation of a lifetime. Thank you so much for the peace of heaven on earth.

My family has just returned from our week stay at the Bear Spring Cabin. This is a lovely home in a beautiful setting. The cabin is equipped with all the amenities one would need and more. The kitchen is well stocked, and the entire home is well kept and decorated beautifully. Extra touches throughout make the space feel like more like home than just another rental. We (children and adults alike), very much enjoyed the game room activities and backyard pool. The owners have graciously provided valuable folders stocked with ideas for day trips, hikes and swimming outings. For future guests, we suggest a trip (or two), to the Coffee Camp/Camp Wilshon area, and a horseback ride in Balch Park. The area is ideal for a getaway, and we found there was no need to travel all the way up to the National Park, as the big trees in Balch Park and Mountain Home were only minutes away. We were also happy to be able to bring our dogs along with us. With the spacious yard, I think they too enjoyed our trip. The whole family agrees that this was one of our favorite vacations, and I am already awaiting our next trip. Thanks also to Shelly, our host, who was a great help when we needed it. I would highly recommend a stay at any of the Three Springs properties!

This is my second time staying at Three Springs (first was at Dennison House), and I have come to love this area of the Sequoias. It is such a great place to get away from it all and so relaxing. I almost hate to give an "excellent" rating because I don't want too many people to find out about it! The owners are so kind, responsive, and think of all the little things to make a vacation stress free. They heard we were binging our infant and offered a pack-n-play and extra toys for us to save car space. (Thanks again Shelly!). There is also a very detailed activities book that lists many local sights and hiking areas which is very useful to plan your days. This property has a very open floor plan and the furnishings are Grade A. If multiple couples or families are going to stay there, I would recommend also renting the guest cabin (Wildflower) for some extra privacy. I hope I can bring the family back again soon!

Six of us stayed here while in the area for a friends' wedding and we are so happy we did! The place is wonderful! The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfy and the open space in the house was warm and inviting! The Guest House adds a lot as well, with its huge bed and private patio and garden. Lots of little details that all add up to a great stay! The only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! We'll definitely be back!!
