Whisk a loved one away on a romantic break or weekend and forget about the world you are leaving behind, enjoying instead the relaxation and romance with someone special in one of our apartments in Rome Italy ...
To know what our previous guests say about us please read reviews concerning our other apartments listed in VRBO:140826,250871,292195,280259. More information about the apartment:
this romantic apartment (perfect for an unforgettable honeymoon) is located near the Roman Forum and the Colosseum in the area called "Monti" (where the Italian president has his residence), ancient neighborhood of the "Suburra " (the name means "area under the city"), mentioned in historical sources, that still today maintains a popular and characteristic flavor.
This location is perfect for those who want to walk in the centre (easily you can reach by foot the main sites like the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Santa Maria Maggiore Church, Piazza Venezia, Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon) or reach any other destination by public transportation. There is a bus stop (bus 117) close to the apartment that will take you a few minutes in Spanish Steps or Piazza del Popolo (the trendy and famous fashion district). Underground stop "Cavour Line B" just at few steps from the apartment: in only one stop you will be able to reach the Central Station Termini and from there you can also easily reach the seaside/beach front of Ostia Lido, where you can spend part of your day in summer season)
The apartment is on the second floor of a building of the 19th Century (with elevator and air conditioning) and it is composed of: bedroom (queen/king size bed) with a small balcony that looks out on a good sized garden. With the greenery and freshness of the garden, you would never guess that you are in the historic center of Rome. The bedroom is separated from the living room by means of a sliding door. The door has been painted with tromp l'oeil effect by the owner of the apartment and when opened forms, together with the decoration on the walls of the living room, a unique illusion.
Going down three steps you enter the dining area and corner kitchen (refrigerator, microwave, electric stove and everything needed for preparing your meals). The tiles in the kitchen as well as the dining tabletop have all been painted by hand by the owner, another example of the care that has gone into decorating this apartment. The dining area looks out on a typical Roman piazza, complete with a characteristic pizzeria with tables and umbrellas. The original wooden ceiling tiles has been restored, giving the warmth of wood to the entire environment. The bathroom is decorated with travertine tiles, and, though not very big, it is comfortable and includes: w.c., bidet, sink and shower.

Why the Owner Chose Colosseo Foro Romano (Coliseum & Roman Forum)
The apartment is located next to the Roman Forum. The oldest and most important structures of the ancient city are located in the forum, including its ancient former royal residency the Regia and the surrounding complex of the Vestal virgins. The Old Republic had its formal Comitium there where the senate, as well as Republican government began. The forum served as a city square and central hub where the people of Rome gathered for justice, and faith. The forum was also the economic hub of the city and considered to be the center of the Republic and Empire.

Natalia worked as a flight attendant (cabin crew) for Alitalia Airlines from 1970 to 1995. Prior to her work at Alitalia, she lived for more than a year in London, studying and working in a tourist agency. She speaks excellent English, understands and speaks Spanish and can "get by" in French.
The twenty-five years she spent traveling from one country to another gave her an opportunity to learn about the ways and customs of many countries and enhanced her natural predisposition for interpersonal relationships; she always succeeds in establishing an immediate, friendly relationship with her guests.
Since 1995, she has attended the "Academy of Decorative Arts", discovering a hidden talent for painting and decorating that she never imagined before. She now puts this talent to use personally decorating her apartments. In fact, the tiles in the kitchens and the tabletops in the dining areas of her apartments are all hand painted as well as the tromp l'oeil paintings, which gives each apartment a unique touch.
In the last 4 years she has attended courses of the History of Roman Art, which allowed her to get to know the city on a new level. She provides her guests with useful information on Rome and its monuments and archaeological sites.
Walter worked as flight engineer for Alitalia Airlines from 1965 to 1997 and is now giving great support to Natalia. He also loves art and history and he continues to attend courses on the History of Roman Art.
Upon your arrival Natalia and Walter will make available, in addition to their knowledge and experience, a large number of tourist guides, brochures and maps of Rome so that you will immediately have Rome, as they say, "in your hands."

We spent a week in the apartment and it was fantastic. It was quiet and relaxing but close to any amenity you could need, including some charming restaurants and lovely shops. Although the metro station is steps away we found it easier and more enjoyable to get around on foot. If we are ever in Rome again we would definately stay here again. Grazie tanto!

This apartment was everything I had hoped for when looking at photos and reading reviews. It is small, but the owners maximized the use of space and it was fine for my husband and I for 8 days. The listing and photos accurately revlected the apartment. There are two large windows and a balcony door, which made the apartment light and cheery. The walls are painted a soft yellow, the floors are a burnt-orange tile, and part of the ceiling is high with exposed beams--felt very Tuscany! The paintings that Natalia did added interest and elegance to the apartment. Kitchen is small, but we only used it for coffee and snacks. The shower is small but adequate. The apartment was clean and well-maintained. It had good windows, and we heard very little outside noise. The building was secure and the entrance was elegant marble. There was a small elevator, which we appreciated when carrying luggage. Occasionally the elevator didn't work, but we only had to walk 2 flights of stairs. The apartment is in a great location--right across from the metro station, and within walking distance of the Colosseum, Forum, and a number of other sites. St. Peter-in-Chains Church is around the corner. Actually, we walked all over Rome from that apartment! There are four restaurants within a block, which we ate at; the Elite grocery store is nearby and fun to go to. Natalia and Walter were wonderful and very responsive throughout the reservation-rental process. We accepted their offer to arrange transportation to/from the airport, and that was well worth it. Natalia and Walter met us at the apartment and acclimated us. They also gave us a local cell phone to use, and also to reach them if needed. We felt we had friends in Rome if we needed help in any way. Visiting Rome in November turned out to be perfect. There were no lines at the attractions, and we had good weather. We fell in love with Rome and would love to return and stay in this apartment again. I almost hate to write this review, as I'm afraid that this apartment won't be available when we go back!!

Thank you, Walter and Natalia, for opening up your wonderful apartment for us. The location to all the major sites and transportation hubs in Rome was just incredible with the Metro stop just a few steps away. The photos of the apartment are accurate and actually the apartment is far cuter and neater in reality. (We loved the washer, the air conditioner, comfortable bed, WIFI and the garden balcony most of all.) Walter answered all of our questions and helped us get orientated to the area and what was available. He is a remarkable host and we so enjoyed meeting him and staying in the apartment. Walter and Natalia have a guest book that visitors have added to each time that they have stayed in this apartment. (We highly recommend this for anyone having a VRBO). Reading this list of recommendations from the other guests who have stayed helped in planning our daily adventures or where to eat or buy necessary items. (Using Rick Steve’s tour book for Rome as an extra guide proved invaluable also.) We will definitely be back to this lovely apartment in a gorgeous city. We felt safe, had everything at our fingertips, and marveled at how close and within walking distance everything was. We had the time of our lives and it's all thanks to Walter and Natalia, their apartment, and the hospitality and graciousness of Rome.

this is a lovely apartment in the centre of Rome and close to everything. we definitely recommend it. we unfortunately did not meet the owners, Natalie and Walter, but their close friend Stephanie looked after us. lots of good restaurants in the neighbourhood, including "wanted" which was just great. only complaint was that the airconditioning either needs to be replaced or serviced. we were there when the temperature was continually in the low 30's, and to be able to just cool the apartment down would have been good. We loved this apartment, we stayed for seven days and quickly felt like this was our little refuge from the big city. Walter and Natalia were very helpful and gave us all the information and tips we needed to make our way around Rome like we were locals. The local area is just gorgeous, with everything within reach, lots of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, little boutique shops (and gelati!) and public transport just a few steps away. We walked to the to all the major archeological sites with ease, and this in the middle of summer. The restaurants in the area suit all types of travellers on all types of budgets. All easy walking distance. The apartment looks just as it did in the photo but what you cant see is the little extra's and special care Natalia and Walter have added to make your stay here just amazing. I am recommending this apartment to my travelling friends and relatives and will book an apartment through the owners on my next visit to Rome with my sisters. The apartment is truly special and it is really hard to leave so we threw coins into the Trevi fountain so we could return to this lovely place again.

This is our second stay in the Roman Forum apartment. In 2008 we travelled from Australia and we stayed for one week and found it so fabulous and well equipped that we returned for a 3 month stay from November 2010 until January 2011.It has everything you need and all the extras. Firstly the apartment is very well equipped and nicely furnished which makes it very comfortable to live in.The apartment is centrally located but very quiet and we had no problems with noise. The listing description is definitely accurate. The location is the next best thing about the apartment. It is so central to the majority of the tourist sights and easy access to both metro and buses. The nearest Metro , Cavour,is only one minute's walk away.If you only have a few days in Rome this can save you valuable travelling time and you can make the most of your sight seeing. The area of Monti is great, lots of interesting shops , a real mix of bohemian, artisan charm and lively local colour and good restaurants in the neighbourhood. You get a chance to glimpse the real Roma. After exploring Rome for 3 months my husband and I both agreed that Monti is one of the absolute best areas to stay in.The other big plus about this apartment are the owners; Natalia and Walter are a pleasure to deal with and go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay. They operate a very professional and well organised business and offer a warm welcome and an invaluable initial orientation to Rome drawing on their extensive local knowledge and allowing the traveller to experience "hidden gems" of Rome. We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment and hope you are fortunate enough to also enjoy it as we did.

Thank you Natalia and Walter for a memorable week in Rome! By arranging a taxi to and from the airport, meeting us at the apartment upon our arrival, providing advice and guidance on the many things to see and do in Rome, and providing a cell phone to use in case we ran into any problems, you made us feel welcome, comfortable, and ready to explore your wonderful city. The apartment was everything that was advertised and we enjoyed coming back to it every evening after a long day sightseeing. Your paintings are beautiful and very soothing to look at. We will definitely recommend your place to anyone we know who plans to visit Rome in the future and we hope to see you again one day!
Owner response:Dear Cindy and Brian, thank you for the the nice review! In this way other people will know us and know all the care we take for our guests. Hopping to see you again in "la città eterna". Natalia and Walter

We truly enjoyed our stay here. We had been traveling for almost 2 weeks going from hotel to hotel and we were tired. We arrived at the apartment and Natalia, the owner was there to meet us. She escorted us into the apartment. It was very quaint and nicely decorated. Natalia and Valter had coffee and "the welcome breakfast" waiting for us. They took the time to review the sites of Rome with us and give us tips on sightseeing. The owners could not have been more helpful. We wanted to get some gold jewelry while we were there and she told us where to go and found some great buys!! The owners also arranged for a cab to take us to the airport on our departure date. The apartment is very clean and nicely decorated. When we came home from a long day of sightseeing, it felt like we were home. The apartment is located within a few feet of the Metro which was very convenient. The Forum and Coliseum and numerous restaurants are only a short distance away. We truly enjoyed our stay here!!! The owners were outstanding and the apartment was wonderful. We hope to stay there on future trips to Rome.

Staying in one of Natalia and Walter's properties is like having friends with exquisite taste let you stay in their home while they are away (But not too far away. You can be sure that Natalia and Walter will be there and go to extraordinary lengths to make sure your stay is carefree.) The apartment is as beautiful as it looks on the Dolce Roma website. It is full of personal touches and blissfully quiet. The Monti neighborhood is both lively and safe. It feels like the "real Rome" -- not overrun with tourists. There are reasonably priced restaurants, cafes, and food shops nearby. Transportation is great. Walter and Natalia will give you the insider information you need to feel at home and make the most of your time in their city. The sixteen days my husband and I spent in their Roman Forum apartment were a highlight of our trip to Italy. We are already planning our return.
Owner response:Thank you Valerie and Bob for your nice review. I has been a really pleasure to have you in our apartment and we have also the feeling that we are old friends.....we are waiting for you to come back. Ciao. Natalia and Walter
