Whisk a loved one away on a romantic break and forget about the world you are leaving behind, enjoying instead the relaxation and romance with someone special in this cozy, clean, central apartment: easily you can reach by foot the main sites like the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Santa Maria Maggiore Church, Piazza Venezia, Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Campo di Fiori)
This romantic studio/apartment (perfect for an unforgettable honeymoon) is located near the Roman Forum and the Colosseum in the area called 'Monti', ancient neighborhood of the 'Suburra ' mentioned in historical sources, that still today maintains a popular and characteristic flavor.
The apartment is on the second floor of a building of the 19th Century (with elevator and air conditioning) and it is composed of: bedroom (queen/king size bed) with a small balcony that looks out on a good sized garden. With the greenery and freshness of the garden, you would never guess that you are in the historic center of Rome. The bedroom is separated from the living room by means of a sliding door. The door has been painted with tromp l'oeil effect by the owner and when opened forms, together with the decoration on the walls of the living room, gives an unique illusion.
Going down three steps you enter the dining area and kitchen corner (refrigerator, microwave, electric stove, and everything needed for preparing your brakfast or light meals). The tiles in the kitchen as well as the dining tabletop have all been painted by hand by the owner, another example of the care that has gone into decorating this apartment. The dining area looks out on a typical Roman piazza, complete with a characteristic pizzeria with tables and umbrellas. The original wooden ceiling tiles has been restored, giving the warmth of wood to the entire environment. The bathroom is decorated with travertine tiles, and, though not very big, it is comfortable and includes: w.c., bidet, sink and shower.
This location is perfect for those who want to walk in the centre (easily you can reach by foot the main sites like the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Santa Maria Maggiore Church, Piazza Venezia, Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Campo di Fiori) or reach any other destination by public transportation. There is a bus stop (bus 117) close to the apartment that will take you in a few minutes in Spanish Steps or Piazza del Popolo (the trendy and famous fashion district) or use underground stop 'Cavour Line B' just at few steps from the apartment: in only one stop you will be able to reach the Central Station Termini and from there you can also easily reach Ancient Ostia and the seaside/beach front of Ostia Lido, where you can spend part of your day in summer season.
Cable TV with international news (BBC, CNN) movies in English (when the original languages is English) and DVD.
The owner offer free wire less internet service, so guests may bring their own laptop and be assured that they need not look for Internet cafes at odd hours to keep in touch with home. She provide a cell. phone (use of the phone is free, personal calls are not included) so that guests can very easily reach her at any time, should they have questions or concerns about the apartment or about Rome itself(free).
She worked for many years in the airline industry as a cabin attendant and she has excellent language skills, including English, but also a real understanding of just what travellers need when they’re renting a short-term apartment in a foreign city. At check in she or her husband will personally welcome you and spend time to guide you in programming your vacation, sharing with you all their knowledge. You will have the feeling to meet a personal guide, that help you at 360' in discovering this big city so full of history, and save so much time that normally takes to a person that is in town for the first time.
Transportation from and to the airport can be organized from Rome's Airports. Driver will be out side the custom (no problem if your flight is not on time and run late) with the sign with your name and will take you directly to the apartment.

My husband and I were warmly welcomed by Gabriela, a friend of Walter and Natalia. The apartment exceeded all our expectations and we spent a most enjoyable week there. It was so quiet, comfortable and safe -- a joy to return to after hours of sightseeing and walking. We would love to return some day, perhaps for a little longer. Walter and Natalia’s conscientiousness enthusiasm makes the Roman Forum an ideal apartment. My wife and I spent seven nights in Rome and highly recommend the apartment. It is small, but well laid out and functional. If you are a big person, you may want to reconsider. The kitchen is small but also functional. The location is ideal. The apartment is within walking distance to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine, and just about every other major site. We only took the metro one time to the Vatican—every place else we walked. A metro stop (Cavour) and several bus stops are very close, within walking distance. Walter handles most of the booking arrangements and is very prompt in returning e-mails. During our stay he even told us about an impending strike during which public transportation would be shut down. Natalia seems to manage the guest relations, and she is very good at it. Upon arrival she sits down with you spends the time necessary to familiarize you with the area. She reviews locations on a map, and suggests places to visit. She recommends her favorite (non-tourist restaurants) and points out markets, grocery stores, etc. I highly recommend Roman Forum.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed here for two weeks in January and it is the perfect time to visit Rome. The apartment location is perfect for exploring on foot. We never had to use public transportation though it is easily available. The area is a safe neighborhood without many tourists. Lots of shops, restaurants and a grocery store nearby, even one of the small piazzas complete with its own fountain where there is after school and work gatherings. The apartment was pristine and Natalia and Walter were available for any questions you might have. We have been to Rome many times but this was a first for renting an apartment. We would do this again without a second thought. Thanks Natalia and Walter .Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is the fourth time we've stayed at the Colosseum apartment, which in itself says something. Walter and Natalia remain the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The flat is so convenient (2 minutes from the metro, 5-10 minutes from the Colosseum and Forum) and the area full of bars and restaurants. We've stayed in numerous places in Rome but once we found this place we've never even bothered to look anywhere else - it's a delightful, confortable place to stay with welcoming hosts. You can be sure that next time we come to Rome we will be staying here again (and again, and again).Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Our stay with Walter and Natalia was truly fantastic! A car greeted us at the airport and drove us to the apartment where Walter was waiting to greet us. He spent about an hour giving us tips for our stay in Rome and was so gracious! He helped to make our stay of one week focused, interesting and special. The apartment was spotless and very comfortable. It is so centrally located we had the entire city at our finger tips. Would we stay there again? Without hesitation. Simply put, it was the perfect place in a perfect city. We hope to return someday soon and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a romantic getaway. Magnificent!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We were welcomed by a friend of Natalia and Walter. She was very helpful, provided us with valuable information and made sure we were well settled in before leaving. She left her cell number with us and also arranged transportation back to the airport. The apartment is perfect for a couple. It was clean and well maintained. Located with steps away from subway station, busses, restaurants and grocery store. We certainly would recommend this cozy apartment to family and friends and we look forward to returning.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

During the last 8 years+ we have been regular guests at Natalia and Walter's apartments. The ones in Via San Giovanni were excellent, and we were certainly not disappointed at our first stay in this apartment. A quiet street, very close to ancient Rome, a lot of small nice restaurants with well cooked food to reasonable prices, and a cosy apartment with a view to a small garden in the backyard. A few meters to the Metro station, and only a little longer to a medium size supermarket. What more can you ask for in the middle of a big city with millions of tourists. Of course we know our way around, and we already had our favourite places to go and to eat, but again, as usual, we were well guided at our arrival, ( this time by Walter ), were to eat, and what to see. Walter knows, that we have seen all the main tourist attractions, so he always have some suggestions to visits, that we haven’t thought of. Maps, business cards and other info is available, so it is just up to us what to do. This time was the first for us in Rome without any visitors, ( that is why we have rented the other apartments ), and this apartment was certainly big enough for two people, and considering were it is situated, we think the price is very fair. There is a small “kitchen”, BUT – who wants to cook themselves when they are in Italy ? Bathroom, living room / bedroom is perfect, and if you really have to stay at home, there are plenty of TV-channels. Next time we are having a two-some holiday in Rome, this will be the place to go. Many thanks to Natalia and Walter. Ellen & Henrik, DenmarkRecommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with this apartment, and Walter and Natalia. They were very responsive throughout the process, and were always prompt to answer questions we had before and during our stay. Walter and Natalia were very accommodating. Our plane arrived from the US very early in the morning, and they were there to greet us upon arrival. Both were very friendly with lots of suggestions to welcome us. Natalia personally looked at a map of the area with us, and pointed out areas she thought we should definitely check out. This was very helpful to us as we planned our stay. I fell and had a knee injury at the Pantheon on the second to last day of our stay, and Walter and Natalia offered any help they could and insisted on paying for a taxi to take us to the airport instead of us taking public transportation. This was incredibly generous of them to do, and much appreciated so I didn't have to hobble around any more than I had to! The apartment itself is just as you see in the photos. It is beautifully decorated, very clean, and very comfortable. It was the absolute perfect place to come home to each night after a long evening of sightseeing. We walked everywhere- even to the Vatican. Restaurants, cafes, shops, the metro- everything you need is right at the doorstep, but the outside noise is minimal. Contrary to another reviewer's opinion, we thought the size of the apartment was cozy and perfect for a couple. We also enjoyed the garden view from the bedroom balcony. We absolutely loved our stay here, and hope to do it again some day. It was the perfect honeymoon. The price was better than a hotel, and it had all the amenities of being at home. We cannot recommend this, or any property that Walter and Natalia offer, enough!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We were saddened to hear of Jimmy and Jennifer's distressing circumstances and unhappy visit to this apartment. We have stayed here twice and are hoping to visit again soon. Jimmy and Jennifer's experience is so far removed from ours that we felt it only fair to the owners to review our own two stays, firstly in April 2010 and most recently at Easter 2012. Both stays were for around one week. The apartment is wonderfully situated near the Colosseum, the Forum and has the Cavour metro station just a step away. The location is ideal both for visiting the attractions of central Rome on foot and for venturing further afield by train. Train travel is both comfortable and cheap compared with the UK. There are lots of excellent restaurants within easy walking distance with prices to suit all pockets. In addition there's a very good supermarket nearby on Cavour, a bakers, coffee bars and a host of other little shops to explore. Whilst the area is busy and vibrant during the day, it is remarkably peaceful at night for such a central location. We experienced no noise from any of the surrounding apartments. The flat, which has lift access, has no garden of its own, but french windows lead to a little balcony overlooking a greened courtyard. This can look unmanicured but anyone who has experienced the heat of an Italian summer will soon realise that it is designed for shade and coolness. At the time of our last visit there was no sign of wear in the furnishings and on both occasions we found the apartment very attractive, comfortable and clean. The kitchen and bathroom areas are compact and well equipped. On both our visits Walter and Natalia, the owners, have been extremely helpful, informative and friendly. They gave us a mobile phone with immediate access to them should we need help which was very reassuring. They also gave us lots of tips and suggestions to enhance our visits. If you want a comfortable and very well located base from which to explore Rome and its environs then we would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment. .Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: Natalia worked as a flight attendant (cabin crew) for Alitalia Airlines from 1970 to 1995. Prior to her work at Alitalia, she lived for more than a year in London, studying and working in a tourist agency. She speaks excellent English, understands and speaks Spanish and can 'get by' in French. The twenty-five years she spent traveling from one country to another gave her an opportunity to learn about the ways and customs of many countries and enhanced her natural predisposition for interpersonal relationships; she always succeeds in establishing an immediate, friendly relationship with her guests. Since 1995, she has attended the 'Academy of Decorative Arts', discovering a hidden talent for painting and decorating that she never imagined before. She now puts this talent to use personally decorating her apartments. In fact, the tiles in the kitchens and the tabletops in the dining areas of her apartments are all hand painted as well as the tromp l'oeil paintings, which gives each apartment a unique touch. In the last 4 years she has attended courses of the History of Roman Art, which allowed her to get to know the city on a new level. She provides her guests with useful information on Rome and its monuments and archaeological sites. Upon your arrival Natalia will make available, in addition to her knowledge and experience, a large number of tourist guides, brochures and maps of Rome so that you will immediately have Rome, as they say, 'in your hands.'
Why the Owner Chose Colosseo Foro Romano (Coliseum & Roman Forum):
The apartment is located next to the Roman Forum. The oldest and most important structures of the ancient city are located in the forum, including its ancient former royal residency the Regia and the surrounding complex of the Vestal virgins. The Old Republic had its formal Comitium there where the senate, as well as Republican government began. The forum served as a city square and central hub where the people of Rome gathered for justice, and faith. The forum was also the economic hub of the city and considered to be the center of the Republic and Empire.
