The Sonoma Owl House is a private, fully-contained cottage which is impeccably furnished in English Country style with animal accents in each room. The queen-sized bed in the bedroom is ideal for a couple but the living room's Ethan Allen sofa-bed can provide another separate sleeping area in order to accommodate 2-4 adults ($20 per person for 3rd and 4th.) The Cottage has coffee maker, toaster, coffees, teas, tea kettle, orange juice, sugar, cream and a Welcome basket of fresh goodies with bottle of local wine. Additional amenities include books, magazines, soaps, robes, iron, hair dryer, and a collection of menus from nearby restaurants.
Outside living spaces are equally enchanting at The Sonoma Owl House. French doors open from the living room to a private, shaded, wood deck with chairs and table for outdoor cocktails, outdoor dining, reading or relaxing amidst the lush hills and a neighbor's vineyard. The 2 Swedish Warmblood horses may greet you from the barn across the yard. At night you may spot an adult Barn Owl returning from a hunt to feed its mate and 4-8 baby owls inside one or both owl boxes. After a couple of months of being fed, the maturing young owls will then try their wings, coming and going after dusk for several weeks before leaving the nest permanently. The owl parents often raise two families per year and thus occupy the boxes for 8-9 months per year. Watch the activities inside one box from your living room via closed circuit TV 24 hrs/day. |
