Ehu Kai means "Sea Spray", named for the tropical salt air common near the sea. This one-bedroom cottage is located oceanfront on one of the few SANDY BEACHES on the Big Island. Snorkeling, diving, swimming and lounging are all available to you just mere steps from your door. Ehu Kai is built upstairs to take advantage of the cool trade breezes and the ocean view from the covered lanai. There is one bedroom with queen-sized bed, plus a sofa sleeper in the living area suitable for children under 12 years of age.   • Even though I live only a 30 minute drive from Ehu Kai, staying there felt like a true vacation with the beach on the doorstep. The house is lovely and has everything needed for a romantic or family idyll. We particularly enjoyed the outside hot shower and the extensive library of novels and information on Hawaii's wildlife. The snorkeling was great and weather perfect. We will be recommending it to family and friends looking for a beach holiday. Mahalo.

  • We spent a week at Ehu Kai in early October and had a wonderful time. The beach is lovely and the snorkeling is great. We swam with turtles every morning! We hope to make it back soon.

  • Ten of our family rented Ehu Kai and Ulu Niu (just next door) for a week and loved every minute of our time in these houses as well as the incredible beach in our backyard. Renting both houses afforded us all plenty of privacy as well as lots of time together and made us closer as a family. Great snorkeling, fantastic BBQ's and wonderful dinners on the lanai's. These are charming houses, easy to live in.

  • Beautiful, well maintained little beach house just steps away from one of the nicest beaches on Hawaii. Good snorkeling, Sea Turtles at nearby Puako Beach, and lovely Sunsets from the Lanai. Nice, accomodating Manager nearby to answer questions.

  • The Ehu Kai bungalow(cute, well built and furnished) for 2 in the lovely Puako area was perfect. We come to the BI alot and usually stay in Puako because of the weather,the reef for snorkling and kayaking, the proxcimity to Hapuna/Mauna Kea beaches and of course the beach right out in front just ain't too shabby either.   • Ehu Kai is the place. We couldn't have had a better place. The view was superb, comfortable furnishings and well equiped, porch furniture most appreciated and thank goodness for the ceiling fans. We thoorughly enjoyed our stay and definitely would consider a return visit. What a wonderful beach location. It was perfect as we celebrated our 60th annaversary. Mahalo
