I saw more birds and wildlife while at this home than I did in all the other traveling around the area. All the fish and waterfowl were a given, but the (literally) herds of deer in the yard and surrounding area, the mink that apparently lives under the dock, and the bobcat in a field just a few miles away were all welcome surprises. The owners were very helpful and let us borrow coolers for our drinks while out and about, and the location with the wonderful view just can't be beat. It was so peaceful and relaxing; I loved it. The interior was clean and maintained. The only negative thing was that for very light sleepers, the amount of light in the early morning from the skylights and noise from the birds and fish feeding (who knew!) might be an issue. I slept fine in the upstairs master loft, but one of my party of four didn't in the pull out loveseat downstairs. It was really nice to have a fire and sit outside in the early evening - didn't even miss watching TV like I normally would have at home. Listing is accurate as described, I would say. The only thing lacking were pie pans and cake pans, but I know I'm probably the only person who looks forward to baking and cooking while on vacation. :-) I would definitely recommend and come back again.

Owner response: Thank you for your review. It was a delight to have you visit, especially being dog enthusiasts! We are always adding to our gourmet kitchen and will spice up the baking utensil selection. We have lovely stainless steel measuring spoons and cups already. Don't miss the Rhubarb growing in the garden. It makes a great Rhubarb Crisp! Making Crisp was our grandaughter's favorite activity.

This rental exceeded our expectations in all ways. The house is located right on the water and the number of water birds (and wild mink) made our vacation there extraordinary. We had everything we needed, and more, for an enjoyable stay and the owners were both available and extremely accommodating. The trip to the lava beds in California was easily done in one day and the route takes you through even more bird country. For birders, this is a "to die for" location. We saw dancing gribes almost every day and the house, with its many glass windows and doors, stayed cool, even in the heat of the day. If you play tennis, there is an indoor tennis club a mile down the road with weekly rates for non-members. The only thing missing was up-to-date flat screen TV's, but there were many more interesting things to do and watch, so that didn't really matter. We highly recommend this location. It will spoil you for other rentals by owner!

Owner response: Thank you for the many positive comments. TV upgrades are forthcoming. Thanks for the suggestion. Best Jim & Stephanie

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Jim and Stephanies. Even invited them for dinner and got to know them. It was so relaxing just sitting and watching the birds. Endless entertainment: especially the dancing grebes and pelicans. The house is lovely! We had come for a rowing regatta which was very close by on Lake Euwana. We went to Crater Lake one day.

We have lots to offer for adventure and entertainment. We have provided extra servings bowls, spoons and a smaller cutting board as requested. We are delighted to accomodate our guests and love sharing our wonderful birding & boating venue.

I just returned from a wonderful stay at Stephanie and Jim's beautiful house right on Klamath Lake. If you are any kind of birder, this is the only place to stay in Klamath Falls. My first morning, I saw 4 Bald Eagles before 10 am! The Link River trail is right there, where I saw many Barrow's Goldeneye surfing in the rapids, along with Buffleheads, mergansers, coots, egrets, herons and tons of feeder birds too, right out the door. Tulelake and Klamath Refuges are just about 30-45 minutes drive where you can bird even more and see Bald and Golden Eagles close up. I also took a drive up to Crater Lake-gorgeous with a frosting of snow on Wizard Island. The house is extremely comfortable--you can watch the sunrise and bird from the bed! I really didn't want to leave (and I live in a pretty nice place too :-) Hope to return soon.

The view was beautiful, way better looking than my handwriting. We saw so many birds I think I should list them. I saw a Great Egret, Double Crested Cormorant, Black Crowned Night Heron, American White Pelican, Stellars Jay, Clarks & Western Grebes, Clarks Nuthatcher, Osprey, Sparrows, Finches, Black Headed Grossbeak, Redwing Blackbird, and Morning Doves. Thanks for the warm kindness, hospitality, and information. I forgot to mention the Tree Swallows, Goldfinches, Gulls, Geese & Robins.

We spent our 25th anniversary week at this wonderful house. Even though there are televisions with satellite connection, we spent the evenings watching the wildlife. The grebes dancing, the mink coming up on the dock and rolling around on it, the otters fishing, pelicans feeding and all of the birds at the feeders. The only thing missing was a microwave. We had brought some food to reheat and found that we had to do it the old fashioned way. It worked out fine, but a microwave would have been nice. We will be back!

Owner response: Greetings and thanks for the positive comments. We are delighted you had such a wonderful variety of wildlife for your viewing pleasure! Thanks for the tip. A microwave is on it's way. Hope to see you soon. Summer is already full so book early for fall! The pelicans are a thrilling sight as they gather together in ever larger numbers for the flight south. You can view them from the house as they glide in and fish! Best Jim & Stephanie

I came here with my Mom and boyfriend for a weekend of birding and fun. I always love meeting others who share a love of nature. We saw 92 species of birds in 2 days! Not only was the birding from your living room absolutely AMAZING, the construction and layout of the home was terrific! I am always checking out building ideas as a Do It Yourself person and really liked some of your designs.

We had a wonderful time at your house. Three sisters, three days of laughter, food, wine and spending time together. We brought our folks to visit, they live here in Klamath Falls. It felt like we were somewhere else. Growing up in Klamath Falls but did not spend time on the lake and it was a new experience. We were lucky enough to see the Dance of the Grebes! Enormous thanks for sharing your great house with the three sisters. This morning we saw a Bald Eagle! Also the little Mink has been a joy to watch. Hope you realize what a blessing you have been to us. I can only say yes to what my sister's have already said. What a pleasure staying here has been. This place has such a peaceful and healing atmosphere. I've been drinking it in. The wildlife is amazing. Like watching a wonderful movie. Thank you so much!

                      Owner info

About the owner: We have lived in the Klamath Basin since 1991. We have been actively involved in natural resource issues, construction and guide and outfitting. Most recently we finalized a 7 year project, 'Creating A Sense of Arrival' with the remodel of a Visitor Center for the City of Klamath Falls to showcase our beautiful downtown, trail system and waterfront area. This 'One Stop' location offers visitors and locals a place to get information about our area from the Chamber of Commerce and Discover Klamath. Other tenants include Klamath County Economic Development, the Hombuilders Association, Watershed Partnership and Ducks Unlimited. We are recipients of the City of Klamath Falls 'Green Pelican Award' and US Fish & Wildlife Wetlands Conservation Award.

Why the Owner Chose Klamath Falls:
We built our home in this very special location because it is on the waterfront and centrally located.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
This property is unique due to it's up close and personal watchable bird and wildlife, which can be viewed from the comfort of your living room or outdoors on the deck. Boating, birding and fishing are a just a few steps away. Downtown Klamath Falls is only 5 minutes and the airport a mere 15 minutes. If you like to hike or bike the Link River Trailhead can be seen from the living room. This Trail takes you to historic Main Street where you can enjoy lunch and visit a museum.
