This home is beautiful and very comfortable. While only 5 of us steyed at the house, my family and I had a small celebration for my mother's 82nd birthday here. The kitchen is large and open to the dining and living room area which made it easy for all of us to spend time together. We all loved the variey of birds that couldn't be missed from the glass front windows facing the water. We were also amazed at the atrium entryway with so many living, blooming plants. I didn't know geraniums bloomed in February! You really feel like you're visiting friends as you get to know Jim and Stephanie through all their photos, awards and recognition hanging on the walls throughout the house. We really had a great time and hope to come back next year!

My husband, daughter and I spent two quietly fabulous weeks at Jim and Stephanie's waterfront home and loved every minute of it. We enjoyed the art and books and the colorful sailcloth window coverings ... and all of the personal touches that make this property unique, aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. We work in the hospitality, food and wine fields so we cooked a few memorable meals in the great kitchen. We ffell in love with the wildlife viewed from the dining room table, especially the grebes who have a playful charm. Jim and Stephanie have that perfect balance between respecting your privacy and being available for anything you might need. We met up for some mango quesadillas and wine one evening and hours later we hated to say goodnight. We dream of checking out every season at this splendid getaway.

We stayed at this place for 2 nights, it was very comfortable in every sense. The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked many meals and you see lake views while cooking. We went for canoe twice and enjoyed the lake, deer and birds. The house has been decorated with art, wooden furniture and love. The place has spiritual feeling to it. We would love to come back for everything. Thanks Jim and Stephanie for sharing your amazing home with us.

Owner response: Thanks for your comments. Like to dine with a premier lakeview? We offer the very best dining on Upper Klamath Lake! Enjoy a perfect view as you cook, eat and relax. Our kitchen is well stocked. The BBQ awaits and the outdoor furniture makes for a restful place to enjoy a cocktail while dinner is being prepared. After dinner retire to the living room for a full view of the abundant birdlife. Look closely and you may see the beaver, a family of otters, mink and jumping fish. Best Jim & Stephanie

The accommodations are very good, clean and everything you need is provided. The view is terrific and the bird and animal activity on the property is really a lot of fun. All just as advertised. Conveniently located for day trips to Crater Lake, Lava Fields, Ashland and other outings. Particularly a good place to stay for a couple days while traveling through south-central Oregon. The owners, Jim and Stephanie were terrific and very helpful.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. If you are a birder this is the place to stay. We saw many new birds right from the house. Our kids enjoyed the use of the canoe and kayak, which allowed us to see more birds. The house is very comfortable and the view is beautiful. It was a great fit for our family.

The home was as described. Kitchen is large and exceptionally well equipped. You could come here with nothing and make just about anything for dinner. The owners stay in a trailer on the property and were very helpful about anything we inquired about, but they were not obtrusive. Crater Lake is nearby as is Lava Beds National Monument and endless wildlife viewing. Bend Oregon is also a two hour drive away and there is a long list of things to do there. When we ate out, we ate in chain restaurants, which I find boring. However, one of our party preferred them, so no restaurant recommendations from me. The only drawback for this home is the lack of air conditioning. I would not return again in the summer. I would look forward to visiting again September through May.

Owner response: Thank you for your review. Klamath Fals is such an incredible hub for so many activities! Lake Of The Woods is fun for lunch & Shakesphere is just over the hill. Both offer a scenic day excursion. We have many fine restaurants on Historic Main Street including Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Indian, Italian & Top of the line steak & wine. Not to mention a fabulous wine shop, martini bar, bakery & bagel shop. Of course we have many fine coffee shops. Just to name a few. So come back in the fall & explore some more!

Yes, the place really is as beautiful as the photos make it out to be ... or better. Yes, you could spend your entire time just watching the birds from the living room. Yes, there is a fleet of boats, and they're well equipped and maintained. And yes, the owners are friendly and helpful and hospitable ... and leave you alone when you want to be on your own. And last, this is a real home, furnished with real kitchen equipment, artworks, maps, guidebooks, ...; not just some vacation house with the bare minimum.

I wanted to plan a romantic but active long weekend with my hubby, our 18 and 21 year old kids and include the pooch! This was the perfect spot. We walked the Link trail (trail head around the corner from the property), canoed (with the dog), kayaked and went to Crater Lake (about 1+ hr away). The home was very impressive with great lighting, comfy beds, well appointed kitchen and a great Jacuzzi tub in the master bath. Lots of interesting pictures, maps and books were abundant to us throughout the home and gave us a taste to the history of the area. The birds and critters were everywhere and playing games around the fire pit was an added bonus. Our hosts were actually right on sight (in an Airstream trailer next store) but we would never have know they were there. When we had a question, we called their cell number and they gave us lots of tips and recommendations. We felt like it was our home for a few beautiful days and it was exactly what we were looking for. Dinner at the local brewery “The Creamery” was fantastic food, beer and the Peaches Foster dessert will never be forgotten.

I saw more birds and wildlife while at this home than I did in all the other traveling around the area. All the fish and waterfowl were a given, but the (literally) herds of deer in the yard and surrounding area, the mink that apparently lives under the dock, and the bobcat in a field just a few miles away were all welcome surprises. The owners were very helpful and let us borrow coolers for our drinks while out and about, and the location with the wonderful view just can't be beat. It was so peaceful and relaxing; I loved it. The interior was clean and maintained. The only negative thing was that for very light sleepers, the amount of light in the early morning from the skylights and noise from the birds and fish feeding (who knew!) might be an issue. I slept fine in the upstairs master loft, but one of my party of four didn't in the pull out loveseat downstairs. It was really nice to have a fire and sit outside in the early evening - didn't even miss watching TV like I normally would have at home. Listing is accurate as described, I would say. The only thing lacking were pie pans and cake pans, but I know I'm probably the only person who looks forward to baking and cooking while on vacation. :-) I would definitely recommend and come back again.

Owner response: Thank you for your review. It was a delight to have you visit, especially being dog enthusiasts! We are always adding to our gourmet kitchen and will spice up the baking utensil selection. We have lovely stainless steel measuring spoons and cups already. Don't miss the Rhubarb growing in the garden. It makes a great Rhubarb Crisp! Making Crisp was our grandaughter's favorite activity.

This rental exceeded our expectations in all ways. The house is located right on the water and the number of water birds (and wild mink) made our vacation there extraordinary. We had everything we needed, and more, for an enjoyable stay and the owners were both available and extremely accommodating. The trip to the lava beds in California was easily done in one day and the route takes you through even more bird country. For birders, this is a "to die for" location. We saw dancing gribes almost every day and the house, with its many glass windows and doors, stayed cool, even in the heat of the day. If you play tennis, there is an indoor tennis club a mile down the road with weekly rates for non-members. The only thing missing was up-to-date flat screen TV's, but there were many more interesting things to do and watch, so that didn't really matter. We highly recommend this location. It will spoil you for other rentals by owner!

                      Owner info

About the owner: We have lived in the Klamath Basin since 1991. We have been actively involved in natural resource issues, construction and guide and outfitting. Most recently we finalized a 7 year project, 'Creating A Sense of Arrival' with the remodel of a Visitor Center for the City of Klamath Falls to showcase our beautiful downtown, trail system and waterfront area. This 'One Stop' location offers visitors and locals a place to get information about our area from the Chamber of Commerce and Discover Klamath. Other tenants include Klamath County Economic Development, the Hombuilders Association, Watershed Partnership and Ducks Unlimited. We are recipients of the City of Klamath Falls 'Green Pelican Award' and US Fish & Wildlife Wetlands Conservation Award.

Why the Owner Chose Klamath Falls:
We built our home in this very special location because it is on the waterfront and centrally located.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
This property is unique due to it's up close and personal watchable bird and wildlife, which can be viewed from the comfort of your living room or outdoors on the deck. Boating, birding and fishing are a just a few steps away. Downtown Klamath Falls is only 5 minutes and the airport a mere 15 minutes. If you like to hike or bike the Link River Trailhead can be seen from the living room. This Trail takes you to historic Main Street where you can enjoy lunch and visit a museum.
