Breckenridge is a beautiful place but it costs plenty to stay there. That's why many locals live on the South side of Hoosier Pass where its less expensive, more laid-back and just as beautiful. So make your plans to enjoy Breckenridge by day then relax in the privacy of the 'Willis Retreat' and its five acres of forest by night. The Willis Retreat is designed specifically for vacationers who don't mind driving a few extra miles to enjoy excellent accommodations in a secluded yet easily accessible location and at a price that cannot be beat. We guarantee you cannot find another rental property with our list of amenities at this price anywhere in the Breckenridge area.
The Willis Retreat is located 2 miles north of Fairplay, so if you need to head into town for groceries or gas its less than a 5 minute drive. Breckenridge is 19 miles to the south (about a 30 minute drive), and its just 65 miles to Denver. The Retreat sits on five acres of pine and aspen to give you plenty of privacy (there isn't another cabin in sight!), and its only one mile off Highway 9. The road leading to the cabin is maintained and plowed by the County so its easily accessible even when the snow falls. And because the Retreat is located NORTH of Fairplay you'll find access to Breckenridge and Summit County to be quick and very convenient.
There's plenty of room at the Retreat with its 2,500 square feet, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, giant two-car garage and carport, a paved driveway and two large storage sheds. The interior features a recently remodeled and well-appointed kitchen attached to the huge Great Room which includes a 32' Flatpanel LCD HDTV w/Direct TV Hi Def service + ALL movie channels, CD/DVD player, and stereo system. A large deck sits off the Great Room for relaxing under the stars and viewing the wildlife that passes through the property.
Need to stay connected while you're on vacation? Feel free to bring your laptop and tap into our high-speed wireless network so you can check your emails, surf the internet, etc.
The lower deck features a 6-person hot tub that is protected from the elements but offers terrific views and plenty of privacy. There are also outdoor speakers connected to a stereo and satellite dish so you can listen to commercial-free digital music.
You'll find a California King log bed in the master bedroom and a queen bed in the second bedroom. The kid's room includes bunk beds and the 'game room' bedroom has a twin futon sleeper (there is also a queen-sized sofa sleeper in the Great Room). The Master bedroom includes a 20' flatscreen TV while the Gameroom bedroom has a 20' TV along with a Sony PlayStation 2 plus a selection of video games and video movies ranging from kids to adults.
The cabin is pet-friendly and has a large dog run in the back yard when you want to keep your dog secured outside. If you would like a little more room to walk your dog than our 5 acres, Pike National Forest is just two miles down the road.
The hustle and bustle of Breckenridge is great (for awhile) but at the end of a long day you'll want to kick back and enjoy the Rocky Mountains. The Willis Retreat will help you do just that. But don't take our word for it; click on our cabin website link below, then click on 'Guest Comments' and see what our recent guests had to say about the cabin!
Please let us know if you have any questions or would like more information prior to your vacation. Thank you and we look forward to having you as guests!

Our stay at the Willis Retreat was GREAT! It is a very beautiful, private, well maintained property with easy access. The cabin was very nice, comfortable, very clean. Alot of attention to decor for a cozy cabin ambience, including the great "fish" lights that were on a timer to come on every evening! The deck off the living room has awsome views. Antero Reservoir forr fishing and Breckenridge were relatively short drives. South Park Bowling is home to Dorothy's Tamales which were featured on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the Food Network. There is an information book in the cabin which details how to operate everything, i.e. Jacuzzi, wood burning stove and the owner contacted us on arrival to welcome us and answer any questions we might have had regarding the cabin. He was a great host! We can't wait to return!!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

I contacted Randy at the last minute. I was desperate to get away from the corporate grind and renew my spirit. Willis Retreat was everything I had hoped it would be. I felt like I was staying at a friend's place. We had all the comforts of home and absolutely no distractions. It was much more than we had hoped for and we are making plans to go back within the next few weeks. All you need to bring is a few clothes, a little food and your favorite beverage. This place is perfect.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

From start to finish our experience at the Willis Retreat was fantastic. Randy was incredibly easy to work with and very informative. It snowed the night we arrived, and he had the driveway plowed for us! We were able to ski nearby and relax in the hot tub when we came back. The home was clean, private and beautifully furnished. Our dogs were welcome and had a safe backyard to play in. The children enjoyed having a WII to play with while the parents rested! We had a truly wonderful experience and would love to stay there again. Thank you for opening your home to visitors, it really was great. We all highly recommend the Willis Retreat.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

This house and property is beautiful! Couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. They provide everything you could possibly need. The owners are so nice and easy to work with. I highly recommend this place. One morning we woke up to two elks in the back yard. So neat! We went during Spring Break, so there was still a lot of snow on the ground. I imagine it's just as beautiful in the Spring and Summer.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The home is lovely and I miss it already. This is a place I'd love to go back to during all seasons, can't wait to see the fall colors from the amazing deck. The property owners are extremely accommodating to people with pets. We brought our dogs who had a great time, it was so nice to have a fenced yard. We took a great walk on the property and had some excellent birdwatching opportunities too. The fireplace is awesome and functional, provides great heat. The home is cozy and appropriate for families or couples and the fish string lights create perfect ambience. I feel like we stayed at a friend's house, you really feel how much the owner's love this property. And now we do too!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Our party thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Willis Retreat. The rustic home had more than enough room to accommodate our 3 adults and 2 children. The kids had a wonderful time playing in the snow and using the sleds that were provided while the adults spent time in the hot tub soaking after a long day at the slopes. The game room was an added bonus as it was perfect for the kids to play video games or watch movies...instant entertainment. We spent each morning and evening making meals in the wonderfully appointed kitchen. We travel much so it was refreshing to not have to go and by items like paper towels, coffee filters, spices, etc. The fireplace was also a perfect end to the evening. We spoke with several skiers regarding their accommodations in Breckenridge and nothing sounded as relaxing and perfect as the Willis Retreat. We did have to drive into town to ski, but the peace and quiet in the mornings and evenings was well worth it. I would highly recommend the Willis Retreat to anyone headed skiing or just to enjoy the beautiful scenery all year.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I rented this place over New Year's when my family came to visit from abroad. It was a great decision. The Willis Retreat offered everything we would need - and even more. In addition, the location is great for skiing and outdoor activities, and we enjoyed being closer to the charming Fairplay instead of the more fancy Breckenridge. The hosts at The Willis Retreat were very professional and followed us up before, during and after the stay. Overall, I would highly recommend The Willis Retreat to any family or group of friends for a stay in the mountains.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.

About the owner: We are life-long Colorado residents, we love spending time in the mountains with our 2 kids and 2 dogs, and we are truly blessed to be able to share this wonderful property with others.
Why the Owner Chose Other Breckenridge Properties:
We choose this area for a number of reasons. First, its a quick 90 minute drive from where we live in Denver, and you don't have to deal with the traffic gridlock on I-70! Second, its much less crowded than a lot of the tourist areas in the Mountains yet all the necessities are within 5 minutes of the cabin. We didn't want a property in a busy resort community but we did want to be near one. This area fit the bill because its just 20 miles to Breckenridge. And finally, its an absolutely gorgeous area throughout the year.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
My favorite thing about the Willis Retreat is its location. While its only 5 minutes from town it is absolutely peacful and secluded. There are other cabins in our area but you cannot see them so the privacy is wonderful. The upstairs patio is huge and is a great place to enjoy a beverage while overlooking a pretty meadow with South Park and the Mosquito Range in the background. Our kids love the treehouse in the backyard and the sledding hills in the Winter. Within just a few minutes of the cabin there are great hiking and 4-wheel drive trails, and if you like fishing there are tons of streams and lakes full of trout. Finally, at the end of a long day there's nothing like relaxing and unwinding in the hot tub. To me, this is the Rocky Mountains at its best.
