Breckenridge is a beautiful place but it costs plenty to stay there. That's why many locals live on the other side of Hoosier Pass where its less expensive, more laid-back and just as beautiful. So make your plans to enjoy Breckenridge by day then relax in the privacy of the "Willis Retreat" and its five acres of forest by night. The Willis Retreat is designed specifically for vacationers who don't mind driving a few extra miles to enjoy excellent accommodations in a secluded yet easily accessible location and at a price that cannot be beat. We guarantee you cannot find another rental property with our list of amenities at this price anywhere in the Breckenridge area. To make a good thing even better, we've dropped our rates to make your vacation as affordable as possible. Everyone needs to get away once in awhile, so load up the family and come on up without breaking the bank.

The Willis Retreat is located 2 miles north of Fairplay, so if you need to head into town for groceries or gas its less than a 5 minute drive. Breckenridge is 19 miles to the south (about a 30 minute drive), and its just 65 miles to Denver. The Retreat sits on five acres of pine and aspen to give you plenty of privacy (there isn't another cabin in sight!), and its only one mile off Highway 9. The road leading to the cabin is maintained and plowed by the County so its easily accessible even when the snow falls. And because the Retreat is located NORTH of Fairplay you'll find access to Breckenridge and Summit County to be quick and very convenient.

There's plenty of room at the Retreat with its 2,500 square feet, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, giant two-car garage and carport, a paved driveway and two large storage sheds. The interior features a recently remodeled and well-appointed kitchen attached to the huge Great Room which includes a 32" Flatpanel LCD HDTV w/Direct TV service and +70 Hi-def channels, CD/DVD player, VCR, and stereo system. A large deck sits off the Great Room for relaxing under the stars and viewing the wildlife that passes through the property.

Need to stay connected while you're on vacation? Feel free to bring your laptop and tap into our high-speed wireless network so you can check your emails, surf the internet, etc.

The lower deck features a 6-person hot tub that is protected from the elements but offers terrific views and plenty of privacy. There are also outdoor speakers connected to a stereo and satellite dish so you can listen to commercial-free digital music.

You'll find a California King log bed in the master bedroom and a queen bed in the second bedroom. The kid's room includes bunk beds and the "game room" bedroom has a twin futon sleeper (there is also a queen-sized sofa sleeper in the Great Room). The Master bedroom includes a 20" flatscreen TV while the Gameroom bedroom has a 20" TV along with a Sony PlayStation 2 plus a selection of video games and video movies ranging from kids to adults.

The cabin is pet-friendly and has a large dog run in the back yard when you want to keep your dog secured outside. If you would like a little more room to walk your dog than our 5 acres, Pike National Forest is just two miles down the road.

The hustle and bustle of Breckenridge is great (for awhile) but at the end of a long day you'll want to kick back and enjoy the Rocky Mountains. The Willis Retreat will help you do just that. Why the Owner Chose Other Breckenridge Properties

We choose this area for a number of reasons. First, its a quick 90 minute drive from where we live in Denver, and you don't have to deal with the traffic gridlock on I-70! Second, its much less crowded than a lot of the tourist areas in the Mountains yet all the necessities are within 5 minutes of the cabin. We didn't want a property in a busy resort community but we did want to be near one. This area fit the bill because its just 20 miles to Breckenridge. And finally, its an absolutely gorgeous area throughout the year.

The Unique Benefits at this Vacation Rental Cabin

My favorite thing about the Willis Retreat is its location. While its only 5 minutes from town it is absolutely peacful and secluded. There are other cabins in our area but you cannot see them so the privacy is wonderful. The upstairs patio is huge and is a great place to enjoy a beverage while overlooking a pretty meadow with South Park and the Mosquito Range in the background. Our kids love the treehouse in the backyard and the sledding hills in the Winter. Within just a few minutes of the cabin there are great hiking and 4-wheel drive trails, and if you like fishing there are tons of streams and lakes full of trout. Finally, at the end of a long day there's nothing like relaxing and unwinding in the hot tub. To me, this is the Rocky Mountains at its best.

The Rec Center has exercise equipment, a great indoor pool, and inexpensive daily rates.

A Must See! An amazing restoration from the Colorado Gold Rush days. Over 30 old buildings from those days of been preserved here along with thousands of relics.

Sacramento Ghost Town

A moderate 4-wheel drive road to a cool little ghost town.

Mosquito Pass

Easy 4-wheel drive road with beautiful scenery and old mines. But the final push up the pass is expert-only (or you can hike it). At the top, you're on the Continental Divide.

Pike National Forest

National Forest access is about 2 miles from the cabin. Hiking trails, 4-wheel drive roads, streams and ponds aplenty.

We've lived in Colorado for most of our lives, and the more time we spend in the Rocky Mountains the more we love them. We looked long and hard for a nice get-a-way cabin in a secluded spot, and one lucky day we just happened to stumble upon this property. It was perfect for what we were looking for so we purchased it and decided to make it available to others so that they can share in the beauty of this little slice of the Rockies.
