“Absolute Paradise"Guest comment entered by owner
This was an absolute paradise. The cottage location is amazing, there is hardly anybody around, very relaxing and tranquil. The view from the cottage is just stunning. The whole place feels like you are in the rain forest, there is nobody on the beach apart from a few locals who are the friendliest people I have ever come across. The river is spectacular, kayaking and snorkelling is a great experience. Lisa makes beautiful jewellery, it is worth having a look. This was the best holiday I have ever had, after this experience I shall never go to a resort again. I feel like I have experienced a real Fiji, I recommend the bus journey to the town and the market. This holiday was definitely worth the very long flight from the UK. I have loved every minute of this holiday.

If you are looking for a self contained cottage near Savusavu I can highly recommend the Sekawa Beach Cottage. The place is spotless and is set in a lovely tropical garden setting and is a credit to the owners. It is extremely good value for money. The local people are all very friendly and as tourism is not large on the island you feel more like a visitor and guest rather than a tourist. You can feel yourself slipping into Fiji time and slowing down as you explore the surrounding mountains and valleys ( some of the best tropical scenery in the world) , go to the local market for produce, visit a village, swimming, walking and kayaking. The owners (Lisa and Roy) will make you very welcomed and offer advice on what to do, what to see and other handy hints with regards to Island life and customs. We enjoyed our stay very much and the nine nights we stayed went very fast.

The cottage is very clean and comfortable. Having a washer and dryer is a plus. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. Lisa, the owner, kept the cottage stocked with beautiful flowers from the gardens. Lisa and Roy, the owners, were very accomodating and helpful with their vast knowledge of Fiji. We used the kayak several times which was a real treat to be out on the water. It is close enough to walk to the beach -- a little steep coming back up from the beach, but a beautiful walk. The cottage is located close to the Fijian communities; therefore, you have the opportunity to visit with the local fijians ----observe a Meke ceremony, visit their community, do Kava, and take a trip to the waterfalls. Lisa and Roy are close by and want to ensure you have a great time while staying here.

Perfect End in Fiji!
Dear Roy & Lisa Thank you for providing us with the "Perfect End" to our 9 month sojourn across Asia and the Pacific. It has been such a relaxing stay, thanks in part to the Kava, but mostly due to your kindness and willingness to give us an anjoyable glimpse of Fijian culture and food. Thanks again for a wonderful week in your beautiful cottage.

Slice of Paradise
Dear Roy & Lisa, Thank you for sharing your slice of Paradise with us! Our two weeks here was brilliant...... the walks on the beach, the lazy afternoons on the porch, the cooking in this super kitchen and the peaceful evenings will never be forgotten. The cottage is a perfect retreat from reality, and Kirk and I leave here so rested and content..... We can see why your cottage is so solidly booked up....perfect hosts.....and perfect accommodation. Kirk and I wish you all the very best and look forward to returning to Sekawa Cottages again. As we say in South Africa, "Mooi Loop" my friends, until we meet again. Kirk and Saskia September 2011

Dear Roy & Lisa, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! How can we express our enjoyment for such a wonderful time? The house is so clean, the yard so green and flowering. Sherry and I loved the river fishing and clues to catch Papio and bait. The boat fishing was such a success, 5 Walu, 1 Kava, and a Scad, 60 lbs in 6 hours with a great snorkel trip in the middle of it all. The taxi and trips to town made Sherry's day, and of course the Pearls. This is a wonderful base to start and finish adventures, the washer and dryer were so needed, all the comforts of home. All of the above is nothing compared to the friendship you have showed us. Truly the people you meet are what make lifes journey wonderful. Jeff and Sherry August 14, 2011

My wife and I stayed here for around 10 days in November 2010 and had a great time. We weren't sure what to expect - particularly at this bargain price - but were delighted with the house (spacious, well equipped and very clean) and its location, about 10 minutes from the nearby beach and surrounded by rich, steamy tropical forest. This is indeed the real Fiji and, if you don't get the white sand and crystal clear sea, that's more than compensated by the richness of the scenery, the birdlife, the unspoilt local towns and villages and, above all, some of the nicest local people we've met anywhere in the world. The welcome you get from local Fijians and their genuine interest in talking to you is refreshing. Although many have almost no material possesions they ask you for nothing and we still remember their infectious laughter and kindness. Roy and Lisa were great hosts who's company we very much enjoyed. Sampling the Cava was quite an experience. Still remember the quite stunning morning chorus of tropical birdsong - never heard anything quite like it. We only rented a car for a few days (it's expensive) but could have done with one a little longer to get the most out of the island. Those looking for a glitzy, activity-filled vacation will be disappointed. This is a place to relax and chill out. Hope to get back there one day - best wishes to Roy and Lisa and sorry it took me a year to post the review!

The real Fiji!
The real Fiji!
A charming and nicely planned house that feels like home, with a large terrace that had stunning views, the perfect place for morning yoga or lazy days with a book. After our five months of traveling we were happy to have a month's rest in the quiet and beautiful Sekawa. We had plenty of time for studying, reading, writing, cooking and kayaking. We really enjoyed to paddle out into the bay to snorkel and swim. Twice a week we went to the small town of Savusavu, just over 15 minutes drive away from the house. There we bought cheap seafood and local vegetables at the market and had lunch at the port tavern. This is the perfect place to experience the real Fiji, instead of staying in resorts,. Lisa and Roy were very nice landlords and neighbors and also very helpful. If you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place to really unwind, or to work or study undisturbed, this is the perfect spot!

Serenity at Sekawa Beach
Serenity at Sekawa Beach
I have visited the cozy cottage at Sekawa Beach,Fiji several times over the last few years and always find it a giant relief upon arrival to find some true peace and relaxation in the beautiful surroundings of the Nasekawa area outside Savusavu. Countless species of tropical birds are a constant entertainment sitting on the deck of this super-clean and well appointed cottage. A short walk to the beach always brings pleasure with a mellow warm swim and possibly a spin in the kayak to some world class snorkeling. With many options for fishing the local waters, my time spent at Sekawa is always full and extremely rewarding. I cannot think of a finer place to revisit again and again!

After booking Sekawa Beach Cottage so long in advance and with such high expectations, would we be disappointed? The answer was immediate and definite, no! The accommodation is extremely comfortable with every modern convenience to make one's stay very pleasant. The fans made us feel cool even on the hottest of days. The cottage is very spacious and there is ample room for four people to sleep. Full mesh screening meant no insects indoors. A full kitchen meant that we could prepare the exotic foods bought at the market in Savusavu. There are dining tables both inside and outside on the verandah. Views from both locations are superb. A real bonus was the washer and dryer. All in all this is a very easy house in which to live. The cottage is situated in lush green vegetation. The flora and fauna are fascinating and plentiful. It is an easy walk to the beach. The sunsets are all beautiful but different each day. Savusavu may be reached by taxi or local bus. We only used the bus which was fun, exciting and crowded. The local people are very, very friendly and only too keen to help when necessary. The town is small but has all that one wishes tostock up the larder and everyday goods are available. Lisa and Roy are perfect hosts. They are always available to assist if needed but leave the guests alone to enjoy the area in privacy if desired. Both Lisa and Roy are a mine of information about the local area. A visit to the nearby village can easily be arranged. Vatu, Lisa and Roy's dog deserves a mention. He is friendly and loves to eat. He eats just about anything! We liked it all so much we have booked another month later this year and four months in 2011-2012.
