  I rented this house for Labor Day Weekend with a group of friends attending a wedding at the Montage. The house was amazing - spacious, comfortable, with incredible outdoor spaces. We spent the entire weekend lounging by the pool and hot tub and loved it! Karen was fantastic - she took care of anything we needed during our stay. Will definitely be back next time I am in Laguna!

  Visited for a week with our adult children and grandchildren. The place is spacious and lovely. Karen is a very gracious and trusting hostess. Great views of the ocean; loved the hot tub and pool; relatively easy access to the ocean; dining in the back or front; quiet neighborhood; comfortable beds. Highly recommended.

  Wow! My family and I were treated to an unexpected suprise when we stayed in this beautiful and rich property. Having lived in Atlanta, GA for most of of my life I moved to the small town of Newnan shortly after I was married. My sons now 17 and 14 have always wanted to come to Southern California. My wife is from Nashville and travels a great deal in her business. We all decided it was time to vacation in Southern California at the beach. When we arrived at this house we were bowled over by it's size. There is room everywhere and everything is so open. The balcony across the front of the house and overlooks the private swimming pool, gardens and best of all nightly sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. The house is across the street from the beach. The town of Laguna Beach is minutes away. The restaurants are great and it was fun to walk around the town. When my boys discovered that one of the stars from the television show "Laguna Beach" had been raised and still lives in the house they couldn't believe it. We later learned the house had been used many times in the filming of the show. After staying there I understand why. Our stay went too quickly. We are hoping to go back this fall. My family stayed in a beautiful, private, luxury home and enjoyed every minute. My wife says the house compares to some of the best hotels she stays at when she is on the road. I have been with her at times and her company flies first class. This is a family vacation we will always remember. I am glad we decided to rent the house instead of staying in a hotel. We don't have anything like this in Newnan.

  My wife and I were looking to escape the cold weather this winter and were fortunate enough to stumble upon this vacation rental. My two teenage daughters were so happy to visit Laguna Beach and my wife and I couldn't have been more satisfied with our experience. The owner left a map Laguna with restaurants and attractions, a very nice bottle of wine and fresh flowers. My wife barely left the house and the owner even arranged a masseuse to come by the house and had massages by the pool. The bedrooms were all very spacious and comfortable, we felt "at home". There was a great breakfast place in a short walking distance and Laguna had great restaurants, we especially enjoyed Saphires and Splashes. I highly recommend this vacation rental... My girls are already asking me to book next year!

  I don't know what the person from Chicago was talking about but I'm glad I didn't give any credence to her comments. You want something sterile? Go stay in a hospital. My girlfriend and I and another couple just spent a week here and I have to say we couldn't have left more relaxed. I have been all over the world and stayed in many, many privately owned homes and the owner, Karen is probably the most genuine, gracious and caring host I have ever met. She even had our favorite beverages in the refrigerator upon our arrival. The pool and spa, from what we expierienced was pristine and heated perfectly. Um, Laguna Beach, Ladies and Gents is a BEACH TOWN, so if you don't likeTHE OCEAN then I might suggest someplace in-land, like Anahiem! Anyway, the property is wonderful with an enclosed couryard in the front and a balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean ffrom which we enjoyed cocktails at sunset. The kitchen has EVERYTHING to make gourmet meals which my friends wife loved. Linens are first rate. Beds super plush. The piano could use some tuning. You can tell a lot of life has been lived in this house and late at night, with just a few of the recessed lights on and the doors open to hear the ocean, the house nearly speaks to you. Great eats nearby, worldclass Montage Hotel always fun for a nightcap. Lots to see and do, or as we did for a few days, NOTHING but lay around, cook, eat, drink and, well you get the idea. Beaches were clean and fairly private, no riff-raff. Oh yeah...the place was SPOTLESS. A great time was had by all!!! JD

  I am 30 years old and from New York City, my 3 girlfriends and I every spring break rent a house either in Cabo San Lucas or California. This was our first time staying in Orange County and after this stay I think it will be our destination for years to come. The house was charming and location perfect. We were a 5 minute walk from the beach and watched pink sunsets every night. It was hard to leave. I am now back In NY with a great tan from the beach and even better memories from an un forgetable stay at this residence. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and all i can say is the pictures on this sight does not give it justice :)

  We decided to splurge on vacation, and rented this "mini Estate" in March/April 2011. It turned into a mini-disaster. We arrived one day early and Karen (the owner) graciously said we could have the keys that night, so we thought this was going to be such a positive experience. We couldn't have been more wrong. With having 5 kids, we were a little worried about the place being too nice. Once we arrived, we didn't worry about that any more. The place is so run down and in disarray that there wasn't one seat outside that didn't have rust or mold on it. The Heated pool and Hot Tub were as COLD as ice. When we asked to have that fixed, Karen's ex-husband Gordon was great and came out multiple times to see what he could do. Karen stopped returning our phone calls and completely ignored our plea's to fix the pool. Before we went on Spring Break, we made a deal with our kids that in order to afford this "luxury" house, we would have to forego trips to Disney and Universal, but we could spend every day and night at the pool. They excitedly agreed. The pool never worked and we did everything we could to spend time away from this house. We had friends in the area, but were incredibly embarrassed to have them come see the house, so we just met them in town (Laguna is beautiful and quaint, so not a big sacrifice), however our dreams of cooking out and enjoying the view and pool never came true. At one time, I'm sure this place was stunning, but the owner Karen kept up with nothing. We begged to get some of our money back to move into a hotel, but Karen wouldn't return our calls. Gordon would return half of them, but usually just said, "I have to go, I'll call you back". Our dream vacation turned into a nightmare. We just wanted to leave but felt like we were being held hostage. We asked for the remaining days of our money back, and Karen wouldn't even return our calls. Gordon told me he was tired of hearing me cry, and to just deal with it. He finally gave us $1,000 back (when we told him we would settle for $2,400) and we left four days early. My kids were so happy to leave that it didn't matter that we lost so much money. I have nothing to gain from this review except to help potential renters avoid a terrible experience. Also, don't look for the Koi pond, it's filled with algae and unidentifiable objects. In case you're still considering, we took pictures and video of what everything really looks like - I wish I could post those here...

  Owner response: My family has been in the hotel business for thirty years, I am very sensitive to cleanliness and quality. Some people view a worn piece of furniture as a piece of art, others view it as needing a coat of paint. This home has antiques but is very clean, the worn pieces are part of the character and charm of this beach house. Do to the rain there may have been some outside pillows that were damp, certainly not moldy, I have a daughter with extreme allergies and again I am very sensitive to cleanliness. I felt awful that the pool heater malfunctioned, but this was addressed and fixed as soon as possible. This family stayed for five days and was given a good faith refund. I am truly sorry that they did not enjoy themselves as I have only had positive feed back.
