Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2006

Both my husband and I grew up in the Croswell-Lexington area. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. We love the Mid-west and the Great Lakes, in particular. It is a friendly area with a small -town feel.

Why the Owner Chose Lexington

The quaint village of Lexington is picture-perfect! It has many cute little unique shoppes and some great places to eat. The Music Theater is accoustically perfect and adds a new and interesting dimension with ever changing "acts". During the Fall and Summer the village offers Music in the Park along with many festivals (Margaritaville/Bach/Fall Flannel/Christmas Tree Lighting)and Art Fairs on the weekends. There's always something to see and do here. Friendly town.

The Unique Benefits of this Cottage

The cottage is situated RIGHT on the beach. You can experience glorious sunrises--- while laying in bed! Bonfires, BBQ's and bike riding.... the list goes on and on. The cottage has been called "a Barbie house" (more than once) with it's pastel colors and cottage-like furnishings. It's comfortable and clean. And, even though it's in the village and well-within walking distance to EVERYTHING, it still is quiet and secluded in feel. Perfect for a get away any time of year- the Lake is ever changing!

Beautiful home

Guest: Kerry (Clarkston, mi)
Date of Stay: 06/25/11 Review Submitted: 10/25/11

I loved our week at this cottage in Lexington. We arrived to the sun shining in through the windows facing the lake. What a great view, we sat many mornings drinking coffee and watching the freighters sail by. The cottage is decorated so nice, very relaxing and inviting. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. We hardly turned on the tv. I slept in the blue room and woke to the sun rise over the lake every morning. The quick walk into town was fun, the kids loved getting ice cream cones, while I ate shortbread from the Irish store in town. We spent a lot of time on the beach. It was perfect, just walk out the back door, down the steps to a beach. The sand was so clean, full of shells , a nice walk to the pier ,and no one really on it till the weekend. The week days we felt like the beach was all ours. My girls swam out to the sand bar and had a blast. The yard is nice. We enjoyed watching all the bunnies. Very relaxing and quiet property. We treasure our week at this great cottage, and look forward to returning soon.

Owner response:Lexington is a great little town, especially in the Summer & Fall. There are many cute shoppes and places to grab a bite to eat or a snack. The cottage is an easy walk to town and is quiet and secluded, even though it is right in town. We are so very happy to hear of the wonderful memories made here!

Girls weekend

Guest: njr (Woodhaven, MI)
Date of Stay: 10/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/17/11

This cottage is beautifully maintained and decorated. We stayed for two nights for a girls' weekend and loved this cottage. The listing very accurately describes the cottage. It was very clean and looked like it was newly renovated. Everything was fresh and clean. Looking forward to going back in the warmer weather to enjoy the water!

Owner response:We hope that every stay is perfect for our guests. To that end, we have tried to anticipate what guests might want- from a cozy blanket to snuggle up with on the sofa by the fireplace, to extra towels in the baths, and extra pillows and blankets for the beds. We have tried to equipe the kitchen completely. (We actually had a family stay with us over Thanksgiving and prepare a turkey dinner there.) We think that "Girl Friend Get-aways" are especially well suited to the cottage, with it's cheery pastel colors. We happily welcome our returning guests.

Thank you for the use of your beautiful cottage. It is absolutely beautiful. It is a great location, has a great yard and the beach is spectacular. I was so impressed upon our arrival. The cottage was sparkling clean and is kept up so nicely. You can tell it is really taken care of. It had everything we needed: towels, beach towels, dishes, pans etc. Our family truly enjoyed our week there. We will definitely return in the future.

Thank you again for renting to my family for 2 weeks this year. Your cottage is paradise to us. We were beach bums and played in the large waves all week. We have the best memories of this Summer because we really relaxed in Lexington. Your cottage is becoming our paradise. We just love it.

Quiet and Secluded Cottage

Guest: JRS (Cincinnati, OH)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/17/11

My family enjoyed our stay at the Lake Huron Cottage in Lexington. The layout of the house was spacious and tastefully decorated. The beach was clean with little traffic. The cottage was easy walking distance from shops, grocery, restaurants, pier, marina, and playground. We spent most of our time in the sand, but when we needed a break it was nice to pop in a DVD or play the many provided board games. We also enjoyed the fire pit. Drawbacks to the property were: 1.) though the kitchen was very well stocked, the pots and pans were well past their prime and 2.) the upholstered dining chairs attracted ants into the house. We had dinner the first night and the next morning ants were waiting on the chairs to join us for breakfast. I vaccumed the chairs and we had our meal. Before long the ants were back in anticipation for lunch. Instead of buying insecticide or bothering the owners who were out of town, we used the dining set on the deck for the remainder of the stay. This was OK because we had good weather, but a little bit of a hassle. Overall though, we were happy with our stay and the couple of disappointments seemed trivial when compared to the great time we had during our week long adventure at the beach.

Owner response:We want our guests to be delighted with the cottage. We will replace the cookwear and have scheduled professional cleaning for the dining chairs. We are also plannnig to treat for pests. We hope our visitors are 100% satisfied with their time spent at Huron Lake Cottage.

We all have very happy memories. It was a peaceful way to spend the week before school started. When things get tough, we will look back on the nights we played games and had campfires and laughed as if we had not a care in the world. Thanks again for sharing your piece of heaven.

Your home is LOVELY. Perfect location. We all brought back a sense of peace with us that you rarely have living in the rush of the city and working full time. I had the pink bedroom and would wake up to the sun rising over the lake, ummm, perfect. Our five coffee mugs were sitting on the counter when we got there- with lots of good teas and coffee- your towels and linens are spectacular- we all hope to book at vaious times during the next year! We shared the Mac and cheese as an appetizer at the Vintage- YES!!! Thank you for the experience.
