My colleagues and I were in town for a scientific conference at the Ernest Conference center, and we had an absolutely fantastic time at La Maison Carondelet. Linda and Conrad were efficient and responsive communicators answering all our questions about the property prior to, and during our stay. We were welcomed with pastries and champagne which made our work trip feel much more like vacation (a welcome change from staying at a hotel). The house is located close to a few grocery stores which was very convenient as we did not have a car, and were able to shop for our breakfasts for the week. The conference center was about a mile and a half from the house, but it was very convenient to take the trolley, which is only about a block from the house. I got a Jazzy Pass for the week, $15, and was able to get to the conference center and back in 15/20 minutes or so every day. The neighborhood seemed safe, pleasant, and my colleagues and I felt comfortable coming back from dinner in the evenings in groups or on our own (we are all female). The water was hot, and there was enough of it to handle showers for all of us each day. The kitchen is beautiful, and the beds were comfortable. I'd recommend this house for professionals who want a nice place to stay during conferences at the conference center if they have friendly colleagues and would prefer a more homestyle stay than they might find at a stuffy hotel. It would also be great for a vacation getaway for 3-4 couples looking to check out the area. There were lots of restaurants within walking distance too, and if you had a larger group, there was also another house two houses down that another group of our colleagues rented, so it was nice to be close to them as well. The Garden District was a great place to stay. Some of my other colleagues stayed in the French Quarter and found the area to not be as nice, and to be just as far from the Conference center, and to be more expensive. We really lucked out by finding this property and I will definitely try to rent for a week again here the next time we have a conference in the area. Cab rides were not too expensive when we needed them, and the trolley cars can get you down to the French Quarter pretty quickly, though they do get pretty full at busy times of the day!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We came to the city to celebrate my 50th birthday and a friend's with 7 girls. The house was amazing and when we arrived we had a nice treat waiting for us. The beds were super comfortable and the towels and sheets were almost like new. The house was set up very nicely and the owners did everything to make our stay comfortable. THe trolley ride to the quarter was just a block away. We also enjoyed the day on Magazine street! I highly recommend this house and would certainly stay there again. Thanks so much!

The photos do not do this house any justice! Everything was beautiful, the owners were very accommodating from directions to the trolley to mimosas in the fridge! It rained often during our stay and we didn't care because we had such a blast just hanging around the house, listening to the music play on the speakers throughout the first floor and sitting in the hot tub! We were a group of six girls for a bachelorette party and are already talking about planning our bachelorette anniversary reunion next year!

We were very pleased with the accommodations for our daughters wedding weekend. Family from Chicago and Tx stayed with us and the location was perfect for the big event on Royal. Even the classic car trailered down for the bride and groom's exit had a safe home behind a gate at this location! A HUGE plus in our book! The owners were delightful to work with. Looking forward to a return visit.

We stayed in this house over the week of Halloween with a total of 5 adults and it was great! Plenty of room! The location is right off St. Charles in the part of the Garden District closest to the French Quarter and where all the beautoful Garden District mansions are located. Very convenient. The house has been beautifully restored and is very comfy. It was also quiet and was furnished with everything you could possibly need. The owners were great to deal with ahd even helped set up a caterer for a dinner party we had one night. She was fantastic! I highly recommend doing this. We would stay in this house again in a heartbeat. The value for money was amazing and it felt like we were able to escape the madness of the French Quarter each night, retreating back to what felt like home.

The home is beautifully restored with modern amenities and decor but left enough of the original charm to lend an authentic feel. The lovely garden in the back is perfect for cool evenings. If you like to cook, the kitchen is a dream. The bedrooms upstairs were cool and the beds were comfy. The home had everything we needed for our stay.

Spending the week in New Orleans with family was really a treat in this house. We all enjoyed the experience and thought the house and neighborhood were most comfortable. We attended French Quarter Fest and did many other interesting things in the area. We had a car, however transportation is available just one block away on St. Charles,as well as a grocery and Igor"s bar. One of our favorite hang outs after a busy day was the secluded patio with table and hot tub and a glass of wine. We felt most welcome on our arrival with the treat that was left for us by our gracious hosts. Having been to N.O. many times and having our week planned we needed no additional help but for someone new the book on the kitchen desk provided many options for dining and having fun. We did little cooking however the Kitchen is well equipped. Would highly recommend this home in the garden district.

My friends and I stayed there for a bachelorette party weekend. The location is fantastic a short walk from shopping, cafe's, etc on Magazine Street. We used the trolley going in and out of the French Quarter which was loads of fun. Linda and Conrad were very responsive and helpful, and did everything to make our stay pleasant. Many of the girls in our group commented that if they come back with family, they'll stay at Le Maison Carondelet.

Our extended family of 5 plus one German Shepherd stayed over Christmas 2011. We really enjoyed everything at the house. The architectural details are great. The bead-board in the master bedroom and bath is really striking. The kitchen is fabulous (we cooked) and so well equipped. We had room for four women and one man to find a place to read, write, watch TV, sit and chat, email, or play with the dog without falling over one another. The stairs are steep and I have RA so I only went up and down once a day, but I knew this beforehand and it was fine. We loved Rouse's Grocery in the warehouse area, it has everything and the staff are great. The owner was very helpful when we couldn't figure out how to start the dishwasher. Would highly recommend.

The house was perfect. Centrally located within walking distance to downtown, the French Quarter, Magazine St., and located right in front of the St. Charles St. trolley. The house itself was in great condition. Great New Orleans charm with all new appliances extra amenities. The back patio was peaceful and quiet, and the front and rear second story porch provided an excellent view of the surrounding neighborhood. Comfortable and safe neighborhood, and close to restaurants, bars, and convenience stores.
