Spending the week in New Orleans with family was really a treat in this house. We all enjoyed the experience and thought the house and neighborhood were most comfortable. We attended French Quarter Fest and did many other interesting things in the area. We had a car, however transportation is available just one block away on St. Charles,as well as a grocery and Igor"s bar. One of our favorite hang outs after a busy day was the secluded patio with table and hot tub and a glass of wine. We felt most welcome on our arrival with the treat that was left for us by our gracious hosts. Having been to N.O. many times and having our week planned we needed no additional help but for someone new the book on the kitchen desk provided many options for dining and having fun. We did little cooking however the Kitchen is well equipped. Would highly recommend this home in the garden district.

My friends and I stayed there for a bachelorette party weekend. The location is fantastic a short walk from shopping, cafe's, etc on Magazine Street. We used the trolley going in and out of the French Quarter which was loads of fun. Linda and Conrad were very responsive and helpful, and did everything to make our stay pleasant. Many of the girls in our group commented that if they come back with family, they'll stay at Le Maison Carondelet.

The house was perfect. Centrally located within walking distance to downtown, the French Quarter, Magazine St., and located right in front of the St. Charles St. trolley. The house itself was in great condition. Great New Orleans charm with all new appliances extra amenities. The back patio was peaceful and quiet, and the front and rear second story porch provided an excellent view of the surrounding neighborhood. Comfortable and safe neighborhood, and close to restaurants, bars, and convenience stores.

Our extended family of 5 plus one German Shepherd stayed over Christmas 2011. We really enjoyed everything at the house. The architectural details are great. The bead-board in the master bedroom and bath is really striking. The kitchen is fabulous (we cooked) and so well equipped. We had room for four women and one man to find a place to read, write, watch TV, sit and chat, email, or play with the dog without falling over one another. The stairs are steep and I have RA so I only went up and down once a day, but I knew this beforehand and it was fine. We loved Rouse's Grocery in the warehouse area, it has everything and the staff are great. The owner was very helpful when we couldn't figure out how to start the dishwasher. Would highly recommend.

...this house is even better than expected! When friends who arrived a little before us texted: 'We are here and the house is AWESOME!', I figured we'd made the right choice. We booked La Maison Carondelet knowing that it was well-situated along the St Charles Ave. Streetcar Line and in a lovely section of the Garden District (the friends and I who stayed there all grew up in nearby Slidell, so we sorta knew the area...), but we were still amazed by this stunning architectural gem. We were a group of 6 (late 30s/early 40s ~ two couples and a couple guys sans wives, getting together for a reunion). During the day, we walked to nearby Stein's Market & Deli (corner of Jackson & Magazine) for phenomenal sandwiches and a great beer selection, at night we caught the streetcar into the city (<15 minutes to canal St. or <20 minutes to the end of the line on Carrolton ~ Rock 'n' Bowl on Friday night = awesome!). In the late evening, the hot tub was a welcome place to relax. In the meantime, we loved the quiet balconies of the house and the relaxing courtyard, basking in the mottled sunshine with our beers, some cheese and several bags of Zapp's, meeting the friendly cats from next door while we caught up on life since we'd last been together. The kitchen is huge and fully-furnished, the bedrooms are spacious and beds super-comfortable, the couches in the parlor are great for lounging. There's plenty of charming features remaining from the house's mid-19th century origins, with enough thoughtful updates to make it feel 'contempory'. Maybe the tiniest complaint for 'old-fashioned' TVs (wanted to watch football in HD), but that's hardly worth a mention. Needless to say, Linda and Conrad's place is a gem and one we'll most certainly return to on our next visit to NOLA! The '11.11.11' event has come and gone; next up '12.12.12'? Cheers, Brian

...and dance in the kitchen! Yes, with the wonderful sound system, we found ourselves coming home every night and dancing in the kitchen. Thank you, Linda and Conrad for the welcome beverages and treats--wonderfully appointed beds and bathrooms. We enjoyed all of the windows and terraces--such a fun place to be for my 50th birthday bash. We loved every nook and cranny of the house--we all miss it already and want to come back!

Our party of 5 "lived" in this home for 5 days. The experience exceeded our expectations in every way. The kitchen, although retaining it's original 1850's flavor is modern and inviting. The 2 parlors provided a window to the world as it might have been in the late1800's. The bedrooms were inviting, large and comfy. The property was very clean and well maintained - we didn't experience any problems with the plumbing (although we had been advised that the plumbing is about as old as the house). I especially enjoyed opening the French doors to the back courtyard in the morning to sit and enjoy my coffee, watch the squirrels and enjoy the fragrant Sweet Olive that thrives in New Orleans. The property owners, Linda & Conrad, were extremely helpful; there is a wonderful book with maps and activity/restaurant recommendations for the local area, which we found very helpful. The location is excellent - so close to the St. Charles Street streetcar, which will take you to the Audubon Park & Zoo in one direction and to the French Quarter in the other. Within walking distance of the Lafayette Cemetery and Commander's Palace Restaurant, and of course, the Garden District is right there! Although the property has its own washer and dryer, I have to say that a trip to Igor's, around the corner on St. Charles (open 24/7) where you can enjoy a beer, listen to (loud) music, play pool with a college-age crowd, while you do your laundry is an experience! This is an experience I had from previous trips to NOLA and had to share with my travel companions. There are many recommendations for restaurants and activities in NOLA, but that is something you should explore and experience yourself! I'm looking forward to my next trip to NOLA, where I can enjoy La Maison Carondelet again.

"Southern Charm" greets you at the doorway of this beautiful home. The decor exemplifies New Orleans living at it's best...aged to perfection! We had six adults stay at the home (one using the sofa bed) and entertained friends and family nightly in the cozy backyard. The kitchen is well stocked with spices, coffee, creamers, sugars and trash bags (they recycle). The master bath is a true gem that had my designer friends clamoring for photos. The home offers comfortable beds, plenty of towels and a washer/dryer in the shed to keep from packing dirty clothes! The home is one block from the Saint Charles streetcar and walking distance to good restaurants. Conrad and Linda (the owners) are very accommodating and easy to work with. We appreciated the bottle of champagne and gourmet muffins provided. Our family is planning several returns to New Orleans and look forward to renting this home again.

We just stayed here for 5 weeks while my 2 yr old son received medical treatments. The house is clean and very nice, especially given the vintage. The owners are responsive and on the ball. Location is convenient as well. It is as advertised! Book with confidence.

This was our first experience with VRBO. We were extremely pleased with our selection of this property. Being in the area for a cruise leaving on July 14, 2011, we wanted to do a little sight-seeing for a few days before the trip. Having 6 children, ages, 12 - 21, this house was perfect. It was spacious, so everyone could meet together or find private space if they wanted to be alone. The house was very clean and well-maintained. Its "age" and decor helped to give us the real NOLA experience. The kitchen was better stocked than most time shares we have ever stayed at. The fresh flowers and "goodies" left were an added bonus. The owners were extremely helpful in answering any questions we had before and during our stay. We also had the privilege of meeting Linda, who was just as friendly and pleasant in person as she was on the phone! The short drive to the French Quarters was easy. The street car stop was just a couple blocks away on St. Charles, as were plenty of restaurants if we did not want to go into the main section of town. I would definitely recommend touring at least one cemetery and taking a horse and buggy ride. Don't forget to try the beignets at Cafe du Monde and shopping at the French Market. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone!

This was my second time at La Maison Carondelet and, once again, I was overjoyed with the house. My family, originally from New Orleans, was celebrating my sister's 50th birthday and they loved it. The house was warm and inviting and reminiscent of the house I grew up in a little further uptown. It is the perfect house in the perfect location! Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I have stayed in many vacation houses, condos, and apartments over the years and this is one of the best. We loved the Victorian appeal and modern amenities. The house has the best equipped kitchen we have ever found in a rental. This is a big deal to us because we love to be able to cook some of our own meals. Since we were in town for our son’s wedding, we knew we expected a lot from a rental. This house was a perfect location as we found ourselves host to friends and family in formal and informal ways. There was ample room for entertaining in the two parlors and patio garden. We were able to prepare food and serve in style, and to enjoy the occasion. The owners really know how to appoint a home: they supplied ample clean, high quality sheets and towels and plenty of paper products, all of which were easy to find stacked neatly in the closets. Sounds like a given, but believe me, not all Hosts are so thoughtful. We were surprised that soap was not supplied, but understand we are old fashioned in that regard; most people carry their own now. The beds were comfortable, in the master and as reported by our children and guests. The bedrooms were spacious with romantic fireplaces and huge windows looking out on mature trees. All of this set the perfect background for a romantic wedding weekend. Just a block from St. Charles, we were able to walk to several restaurants. Grocery stores were not as easily available, but that’s New Orleans. Relatives staying in hotels were nearby and could walk or ride the trolley to our place if they preferred not to drive. Our daughter and nieces took the trolley into the French Quarter for the morning, picking up on St. Charles. Keep in mind that old houses have creaky floors and ill fitting doors as part of their charm. The long staircase was daunting, but we all agreed No High Heels While Climbing the Stairs; I mention this because I would have hesitated to have small children or mobility impaired since the two showers were upstairs. Be prepared for old house quirkiness and the mixed nature of this neighborhood, and you will have a wonderful trip into old New Orleans.

Our two families had a wonderful vacation during Jazzfest thanks in great part to La Maison. The home is stocked with all the necessities upon arrival, along with some treats and sweet flowers which was a nice touch. La Maison has a warm vintage plantation feel but with all the modern conveniences a family with young ones may need. The garden is beautiful and perfect for dining outdoors with friends and quite child friendly. The air conditioning, comfortable beds and hot water are a major plus in my book. We will definitely consider staying here again if we get the chance to come down to NOLA! I do want to add a few considerations for parents travelling with younger ones: - Rent pack and plays or cribs before arriving. - The rooms do not have black out curtains for naps. (not a big issue) - Dining for kids indoors was mainly on the floor. There is no official dining room in the home, but a cool long tall table in the kitchen (fun for us adults to huddle, cuz who formally sits anymore anyways - kids can go outside and sit : ) One minor issue on one evening was the neighboring Hostel. They can get a little loud in the evenings, but our expectations for loud happy shouts in NOLA were high. We loved NOLA, we loved JAZZFEST and we loved LA MAISON CARONDOLET!

We stayed 5 nights in May 2011. Two adult couples with three total kids under age 4. Were in town for Jazz Fest, and found the house to be just perfect. It is a beautiful home, very clean, and decorated very well, esp for a rental. Conrad and Linda provided us with a last minute contact to rent pack and plays, which was a big plus. The proseco and sweets left for us was a great touch. The Garden district is beautiful, and the house is a short walk to Magazine street, where there are many shops and dining options. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here a weekend in April. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The house is spotless, and so nicely furnished. It was so much nicer than most vacation rentals we've stayed in before. It was perfect for 3 couples, as all 3 rooms are comparably sized with a queen or king bed. The owner was also so helpful. The fresh flowers, fresh baked goods, prosecco and orange juice were a lovely touch, and greatly appreciated upon arrival. We will definitely stay here again next time we come to New Orleans!

We absolutely loved our 8 week stay in the Maison Carondelet. It felt like home from the minute we walked in and I must confess, we were loathe to leave. Even our old dog (who's never been in a city or around traffic) loved it as evidenced by her absolute joy when we mentioned going for a walk. The beds were very comfortable, the linens luxurious, the kitchen a cooks dream and the courtyard cozy and relaxing. Location wise, this is the place to be in NO. St. Charles Ave. is just around the corner so we were able to catch the streetcar when we didn't feel like driving, and, of course, we were able to catch a lot of parades. The only down side with this location was that on several nights the hostel next door didn't settle down until the wee hours. On the positive side, the manager of the property was very approachable and eventually took care of the problem.
Owner response:We too spoke with the manager of the hostel and he mentioned that Mardi Gras time in New Orleans was the exception rather than the rule in terms of noise, but, regardless, he asked that particular guest to leave. Normally the hostel guests are very respectful of the neighbors and our guests.

The house is large and very nicely decorated. The yard is enclosed so our dog Dolce could wonder around without fear of her running off. It is also very pretty and a nice place to sit and have a drink. The location is great. The house is on Carondelet and Jackson which borders the southeast corner of the garden district. We found the location perfect. We walked all over the garden district to great coffee shops and restaurants and shopping on Magazine street. The Saint Charles trolley is around the corner which will take you uptown or down to the French quarter. You can also easily walk there on a nice day. Don't miss the War War Two museum, it truly is surprising and amazing and the restaurant there called the American Sector is wonderful and has a great Happy Hour. Rani Linda and Conrad were all very helpful and gave us lots of good information and took care of any problems we had. We were there for the month of Jan. The house can be drafty on a cold day, especially by the french doors that go out to the patio. I don't imagine that is a problem any other time of the year. All in all it was a great place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas 2010 stay at this property. It is an elegant and well-maintained home just off the St. Charles streetcar line with easy access to Bourbon St. and the Magazine St. shopping area. It was spotless when we arrived and we were greeted with a bottle of sparkling wine and fresh baked goods. We couldn't have felt more welcome. It has a private and intimate courtyard for outdoor get-togethers. It comfortably accommodated our two grown children, my wife, me and our black Labrador, Lily. The neighborhood has that low key New Orleans charm; our favorite spot was Igor's 24 Hour Bar and Laundromat around the corner on St. Charles which provided a perfect cap to a night out on the town with hamburgers and Bloody Marys at 4:30 am. The owners are very hands on and made sure everything was right from our first inquiries through our checkout. They answered all our questions, including debugging an Internet issue over the phone. Definitely recommend the property for that extra-special stay in New Orleans!"

This house was more than we imagined it would be! We were three couples....three siblings and their spouses......that lived far from each other, meeting in New Orleans to catch up. I was raised in New Orleans and the house is so typical of upscale New Orleans, I felt like I had come home. The house is in the very best location.....only 1/2 block from the street car trolley and/or bus on St. Charles St. Besides the beauty of the house, the comfort of the furnishings and the hot tub (which we really enjoyed), the hospitality of the owners was way over expectations. There were fresh baked pastries waiting for us, the house was immaculate and they even called to make sure we were comfortable. Luckily, the weather was perfect, making the patio the perfect place to visit and eat. You can't go wrong with this guest house. It will be the highlight of your visit to New Orleans! It was our highlight and we can't wait to go back!!

La Maison Carondelet was perfect for our family of 6 during the week we prepared for daughter's wedding. We were very satisfied with this rental. It was spotless. Beds were comfortable & there was plenty of hot water & linens. Although we didn't have time for a soak in the hot tub, we were able to do flower arranging in the courtyard (lovely) and spread out in the living areas for the few meals we prepared "at home." (No official dining room, although there is a nice bar & stools in the large kitchen). But that's one of the beauties of being in New Orleans - eating out! House is lovingly restored and as functional as it is beautiful. The welcome pastries & prosecco in the frig was a really nice touch. Linda called to check on us within hours of our arrival & we found information on restaurants & sightseeing in the info book. On street parking was always available & the location was very convenient. There is a hostel next door, but no noise & no loitering about. The house lies about midway between the CBD/Quarter & the University/park and driving in the area was not intimidating. Highly recommend a stay here!

In October 2010 three generations of our family spent a wonderful week using La Maison Carondelet as our base of operations. The week culminated in a 50th wedding anniversary party for 40 people at the house. The setting was perfect - the layout of the house, the large kitchen, and the double french doors onto the courtyard provided a perfect flow. Our guests continue to comment on how beautifful the house was. Everything we needed was there and our hosts were available to answer any question we had. The grand kids enjoyed the hot tub. The house's location made it easy for anyone to quickly grab the street car a head off to the city or the zoo. We had a magical week with wonderful October weather thrown is as lagniappe!

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. It was perfect for our party of 6, including 2 children, and it was wonderful to return to the peaceful oasis of Maison Carondelet after being out all day enjoying the city. We were delighted to be able to stay in such a lovely home in such a lovely area, rather than an impersonal hotel. New Orleans is a fabulous city and we loved the great food, music, architecture and vibrancy of the city and Maison Carondelet is ideally located to see everything New Orleans has to offer. We are so glad we were able to visit.

This is a wonderful house which has been beautifully restored. Being old home owners ourselves we were impressed by the details of the home which were in line with the age and original design, but with all the modern amenities. We were a group of three couples in town for the weekend to eat and drink and found that this house met all our needs. The location was perfect with easy access to both uptown and the French quarter and walking distance to everything in the garden district. We loved the house and hope to have the opportunity to stay here again.
