This is a cottage on a 300 acre farm in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Staunton, VA. The farm is one hour from Charlottesville and Harrisonburg, three hours from D.C. and two hours from Richmond and Roanoke.
The cottage sits alone in its own valley, and the farm has spectacular hills, meadows, and woods. It features soaring views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with over a mile of border with the beautiful George Washington National Forest.
Privacy and intimacy go along with the gorgeous landscape. You will be the only people on the farm. From the entire farm, no other houses are visible, despite the stunning views. Dozens of deer make their home on the farm and feast on the many apple trees surrounding the farmhouse. The upper pond has a 4-person paddle boat. If you like fishing, it has catfish, bass and perch. A 4-person golf cart is available for getting around. There is a pool for your exclusive use.
To give you an idea of how large 300 acres is, it would take you about an hour to walk to the back of the farm.
We gladly accept pets. The farm has always had dogs and cats, and they love it there.
I've been adding a room and wraparound deck to the cottage over the winter. The addition will be a window-filled kitchen/dining/living area, basically doubling the size of the cottage. The deck will allow you to sip your coffee while looking out over the valley, watching the mist roll through. Should be room for a hammock there, too. Also renovating the existing cottage. Overall, it should be a lot nicer, with a much better cooking area.
