This lovely garden house with seperate studio is in a quiet residential area, only 2 blocks from the world famous Instituto Allende , and an easy, picturesque, 10 minute walk to the main square or Jardin. The property is on the House and Garden tour and one of the favorites of this tour of top interesting houses with lovely gardens in San Miguel (don't worry, not while you're there :).
The views are just fantastic! You have views of the entire centro, with multiple churches, including the parroquia (main cathedral) in the panorama. It is lovely during the day, but also spectacular at night, when the churches and historic buildings are lit up like a necklace. Truly lovely.
It is a unique and unusual home and extensive property, designed and built by one of the original and well known San Miguel artists (there are books on his work in the house). It has majestic stained glass windows designed by him, and his artwork and other world artists on display. This is a creative and relaxing house with plenty of room for guests.
The garden is extensive, with many tropical trees and potted plants -- plenty of room to sunbathe, read, or do your exercises. It is an unusually large garden which is quiet an a wonderful oasis from town activities but easy walk to the main square.
The house is filled with light, with many windows, but very private as it is surrounded by the large garden and flower covered walls. Each room is sunny and bright. Each of the bedrooms has its own fireplace, for ambience or for cool nights.
There also a lovely terraces where you can sit out and see the garden and town views. Great for breakfast, entertaining guests or relaxing and reading enjoying the tranquil view.
The master suite is on the ground floor, with its own bath. There is an additional bathroom off the living room. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, one queen and one double, each with a fireplace and there is an additional bathroom with tub.
The layout of the house is open, with a very large living room and dining room. There living room has a fireplace and the dining area has soaring two story ceiling which also contributes to the spaciousness. Both have lovely views into the garden which is filled with blooming flowers and trees. Leading from the dining room is a raised flagstone terrace with a large tiled table, which is ideal for outdoor meals.
There are fabulous views from all the rooms. The churches lit up at night is a wonderful sight! So are sunset views from the large rooftop.
Housekeeping service is included three days a week. Gardener service also included. A cook can be arranged if you would like. TV/Cable- with lots of US channels, Internet, local telephone is fully included.
There are three roomy bedrooms in the house with three bathrooms and a large eat in kitchen and also a living room and a dining room.
There is also small casita with an additional bedroom/ attached bath and kitchenette in a separate area of the property, just steps from the main house. This is wonderful amenity if you have guests that would like additional privacy. Or you can use it as a stand-alone studio for those artistically or creatively inclined
On the property there is also a seperate casita/studio. There is a prooerty caretaker that is normally in residence. Please inquire if you would like it included in the rental. It was used as the art studio by the famous artist. It has an upstairs bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette in addition to studio space.
The house is fully furnished with a combination of antiques and Mexican woodworking and fabrics and wonderful artwork from all over the world. There is also an extensive collection of artbooks which you are welcome to browse at your leisure.
The garden has lounge chairs to enjoy relaxing. It is very sunny and full of flowers. There is also a shaded area as well
If you have a car, there is a large seperate garage on the property that can hold a large car or SUV and also has extensive storage.

Why the Owner Chose Centro
My sisters and spent years in San Miguel as children of a famous artist who moved here to paint. He first saw San Miguel 50 years ago and loved the environment and eventually moved there from the US. Before that he was Canadian, so loved the sun and color.

We were planning to stay in San Miguel for a few weeks. After staying at the house we decided to stay for a few more weeks. Its such an interesting house, and is rather historic, belonging to a famous artist. The interiors are lovely, with pink stone walls and green onyx floors, large glass and wrought iron doors opening to the garden. This location was excellent, just a short walk into town. The neighbors were friendly and welcoming. The caretaker who welcomed us couldn't have been more helpful. We loved sitting in the garden. There is beautiful plannings, a large lawn, many pots of flowers, walls of bougenviellia, and lovely orange and avocado trees. Its unusual to have that much gardens so close to the center of town. The terrace overlooking the garden was delightful for morning breakfast, or afternoon drinks. My daughter loved to sit on the second floor balcony and read or take photographs of the town. It was so sunny and pleasant. I wish we could have stayed for ever! An added bonus was a studio building on the property where our guests could stay when they visited. I highly recommend this house. Its great for a family or a group of freinds.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.
