Enjoy the ocean breezes from the 2 beachfront covered porches of this 6 bedroom, 5 bath cottage. The first floor has 2 bedrooms with a full bath and a double bed and a single bed in each bedroom. There is a queen sofa bed and a single sofa bed in the living area on the first floor for your convenience.
The second floor has 4 bedrooms which includes 2 master suites with a King bed in the first, a Queen bed in the second, a third bedroom with a double bed and a fourth bedroom with 3 single beds.
Pelican Watch has central heat & air, a dishwasher, microwave, washer & dryer, icemaker (in the refrigerator), wetbar, water filter at kitchen sink, 7 color cable TV's, 7 VCR's, 7 DVD players, 7 CD players, cassette tape players. Other amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, WIRELESS high-speed internet access, 2 covered porches with rocking chairs and a hammock, charcoal bar-b-que, 2 outside showers (one enclosed with hot & cold water and a dressing area), parking underneath the house, audio & video library, puzzles, games, and books for your enjoyment, a gated sundeck with table, chairs and umbrella, and a private walkway to the beach.

This is an introduction to your hosts. My husband, Sam, and I are going into our tenth season of sharing Pelican Watch with our guests. Over these past seasons, Pelican Watch has been the setting for weddings and honeymoons, family reunions and off-site business conferences, birthdays and anniversaries, celebrations for Christmas, New Years, the 4th of July, many Thanksgivings, St. Patrick's Day, Columbus Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and many memorable Summer vacations. Pelican Watch is also a place for the times when we are comfortably quiet and watchful ... watching the sunrise from the deck while we drink our morning coffee ... watching, yet another, spectacular sunset while having a cool drink in the evening ... watching the members of our families finally get a chance to just walk the beach and talk ... watching the waves from the beach, just relaxing, shaded under beach umbrellas ... or watching a sand castle being built ... or watching a first sand castle being built with the help of a grandfather.
Our family and friends come from all over the country (and some beyond!) to share time together at Pelican Watch. It is our intention that everyone who comes to Pelican Watch feels comfortable and at home ... and feels the destination was worth the journey. We want this for our family and friends and we want this for all of our guests.
With that thought in mind, Pelican Watch is a fully equipped house with amenities that I have personally selected for my own family's comfort ... with the idea that we are on vacation and need to be having fun, and not restrained by our "Sunday Best". Most importantly, things need to be clean. We have private housekeeping at Pelican Watch with the name and number for you to call if you need anything. We supply 100% cotton bed linens for your stay. All mattresses are upgraded styles maintained carefully. There is a TV with DVD/VHS player in every bedroom, ceiling fans throughout, a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor furniture, including rocking chairs and a Pawley's Island hammock among many other amenities. Our hope is that you and your family will feel comfortable, well taken care of and can relax and have some fun.
An important reason for our VRBO listing is to spread the word about Holden Beach's "value season", when the beach is quiet. Spring and Autumn are beautiful, to many of us, the most beautiful, seasons on the beach, and a perfect time for golf. (More about golf later.) You never know which way the Winter season will go. We were sunbathing on the beach in December of 1999. My photo was in the local newspaper ... wearing shorts and walking barefoot in the water in December of 2004. And then, I have photos of snow on the Pelican Watch decks in December of 2001. Either way, the beach is always rejuvenating and beautiful. And, the value season prices are incredibly low and weekends and partial week rentals are available. There are day spas, massage therapy and meal delivery all available in the area. Pelican Watch can be your very affordable private retreat.

Visit historic Wilmington, the USS North Carolina and The Ivy Cottage in Wilmington, the largest consignment store on the east coast. Local folk art. Winery. Farmers Markets. Fresh shrimp and flounder from the boats. Fresh local oysters. Or go south to Myrtle Beach for Barefoot Landing, miniture golf and Tangor Outlet Mall. (Costco, both with gas, in Wilmington and Myrtle Beach.)
