The Unique Benefits of this Cabin & Bunkhouse

We enjoy going sauna and swimming with our 32 grandkids and other kids that come to visit us. Making s'mores on a campfire on the beach for the kids while we watch the sunset and the stars come out. Hikes on the nature trails are always fun.

This is a beautiful, clean and cozy cabin with all the comforts of home! All you need to do is bring your favorite foods, some clothes and a positive attitude. We picked blueberries, walked on the beach, went hiking and jogging, took a few trips into town just a short distance away, “drained” our tension out in the sauna, enjoyed a beach fire, and mainly just relaxed reading and listening to the waves of Lake Superior. I even saw what I think was a bobcat dashing across the road not far from the cabin (my first and I grew up in the U.P.). If you want peace and quiet with the option to be adventurous, this is the place for you. The owners are also super people who communicate well and want to make certain you have everything you need to make your vacation a memorable one. We would definitely stay here again.

    • Great place to kick off the summer season. There's nothing like Lake Superior to sooth the soul. The layout of this property and adjoining areas make it very private and quiet. The cabin was perfect for two. It was especially nice for two people who usually sleep in a tent when in the U.P. We had a vacation with all the conveniences of home and without giving up the beauty of the outdoors. We also got out and enjoyed the Keewenaw during our one-week stay. Being at the cabin reading, fishing, swimming, etc. was satisfying enough. If you haven’t done so, you have to sit in the sauna, get nice and hot, and then jump in the lake. Repeat three times and you will be optimally relaxed.

Hello Bob and Kathy, We have just returned from a week at your cottage and wanted to let you know what a great time we had. It is truly a magical place! We hope we can figure out a way to return next summer. Maybe for two weeks? Thanks!Dave R

    • We've stayed at the cabin many times. It's wonderful to be close to the lake - listening to the waves from the cabin or jumping in for a refreshing swim. The kids love it and play for hours on the beach and near the cabin. The cabana is nice to be near the swimmers but take a break from the sun.

    • We spent a long weekend at the cabin and really enjoyed ourselves. The cabin is small but cozy and was perfect for the two of us. We loved being able to look out the windows and see the lake, and that it was only a short walk down the dune to the beach. We watched sunsets, stargazed, and had a fire on the beach. We were pleased with the cabin's updated and charming interior and great proximity to Lake Superior, and were glad that we chose to stay near Calumet (as opposed to elsewhere on the Keweenaw Peninsula) - it was nice to be just a few miles from a grocery store and some restaurants. Enjoyed ice cream from the local dairy (Jilbert's), local thimbleberry jam, pizza from Calumet Pizzaworks, and dinner at Carmelita's. The drive to everywhere on the peninsula was a scenic drive. Wish we could have seen the northern lights...I guess we'll have to come back and try to catch them again.

    • I really enjoyed the sauna then swim every day. There were fresh bluberries on the way down to the cabana & beach! It's outstanding that you can actually catch fish from the shore! (Similar to the surf fishing I do in the Golf of Mexico.) The road to the cabin (where we did biking) was lined with wild suger plum & apple trees & another road that we had just biked had rasberrys & thimbleberries whic all slowed our bike trip as it is OK to stop and pick all of these. (They are in the public right of way). I also enjoyed that the most troubling noise we heard was the surf. The cabin isn't large but was very comfortable and adaquate for us. The ice cold well water is delicious.
