We were very pleased to find that it was just as nice as the pictures we saw on the internet. The views of the ocean from the living, dinning and bedrooms were spectacular. The stairs to the beach access was conveniently located from our front yard. The jacuzzi was great and there was a barbeque if we wanted to use it. Our large family was accommodated very comfortably. Owner Greg Morse was most helpful and always responded to our every need. We hope to return again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Great spot, nice house and location, unless your staying there! Lets see. No coffee pot, we got one delivered and looked like the guy was pissed off and threw it before he brought it over. damaged in the box.No firewood we had to ask. Washing machine broke. Garbage disposal spit food all over underneath sink. No body soap. We made them clean again, mold all over the windows and blinds, tub and shower scum, we wrote out names in it. Moldy bath ceiling, I sprayed bleach myself to help. Refrigerator needed wiped and cupboards,.Jacuzzi had sand in it and the step is located in a retarded spot. They need a maid with pride. Yes the stairs to the beach are trecherous so be careful your kid doesnt fall or its a trip for new dentures. besides all the stuff I forgot it would be fabulous if it was cleaned RIGHT and small details.Did you find this review helpful? The house worked great for a family reunion. The views from inside and the deck off the kitchen were unsurpassed. We lucked out and had unseasonably warm sunny weather so most of our time was spent out doors. The beach was wonderful. We walked to the caves at Hug Point and the "swimming hole" towards Manzanita. I would, however, caution that the steps to the beach are a bit treacherous so use extreme caution. The owner, Greg, was very responsive to a couple of issue we had. An all around great time was had by all.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the AWESOME review. Glad you had such a great time :) The house, yard, deck and hot tub work great for large and small groups. The stairs to the beach are steep but you can always walk another 60 seconds to the public beach access for a more gentle route to the beach.

We all had a great time at The Big Kahuna. Everybody loved the hot tub and my Grandkids loved running down to the beach. We ate mostly at home because of the size of our group and the kitchen was well supplied. The view was so amazing and the house was so comfortable no one wanted to leave. We are all trying to find a time to come back next year.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the great review :)

We've stayed at many places on the Oregon Coast over the years, and this is absolutely at the top of the list. As if the amazing view isn't enough, the house is nicely decorated and equipped with just about everything you could want. It is bright, spacious and incredibly clean. We all loved the hot tub which is also very clean and well-maintained. The location is close enough to town for a quick drive to the restaurants. This is an amazing place to stay, and we would love to come back! Thanks for a great stay!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Happy to hear you had such a great vacation!

The big Kahuna provides exceptional views, a great deck and hot tub. What the Big Kahuna does not have is easy beach access. After cautiously negotiating the steep steps down to the beach, you find you must then negotiate over a black rock terrain before you can ever step onto the sand. When the rocks are wet, they are treacherous. No doubt the rocks are there to help with erosion, but we would not have rented the house had we known of the beach condition. If you are still considering renting the Big Kahuna, be sure to take your own hair dryer and sharp kitchen knives. Also, make sure you return the key to its outside location since the back sliding door continues to lock itself and you can easily be locked out of the house. We would not recommend this house to friends primarily because of the challenging beach access.Owner response: Thank you very for much for the fantastic review of the setting, house and hot tub. There is a public beach access 60 seconds away that we recommend to those who would rather take more gradual steps to the beach. The small river rock that was deposited there by the last big high tide storm is slowly disappearing with each passing day. The kitchen knives have been sharpened and the knife sharpener and hair dryer has been repurchased.

The house is beachfront, up on a rise above the beach, you can't beat the view. We had a great time walking on the beach and exploring. The house is ok, it was accommodating for our numbers. The only negative is that we were locked out of the home when the back sliding door latched as it was being shut.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I feel the listing description does not give this home justice. The wall to wall picturesque windows are breathtaking from sunrise to sun-down and the midnight moon is breathtaking as well. The beach was only steps away making it easy to take my children down to play on a moments notice. We literally drove up, unpacked and didn't leave this home till it was time to check out. My family and I were so happy with our stay and are looking forward to staying here again. We have recommended this home to our friends who are looking for a place to stay at the beach soon.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Big Kahuna over the xmas holiday and were very pleased overall. The house rests right above the ocean and the views are stunning. It is quiet and restful. A great place to read, play games, run along the beach at low tide, watch the winter stormy ocean at high tide and build a gingerbread house or bake cookies! This house is listed as 5 bedrooms which is one of the primary reasons I chose it. However, when you go, do not expect 5. It really should be listed as 4 since the 5th bedroom is a non-insulated sleeping porch heated by a space heater, accessible only through one of the other bedrooms. I would also recommend to the owners that they purchase new frying pans since food sticks to the ones there regardless of how much oil/butter is used. I would definitely return! Thanks for a wonderful stay.Owner response: Your very welcome for the wonderful stay and thank you for the fantastic review! New non-stick pans have been purchased for the beach house. The 5th bedroom is fully insulated and a new permanent baseboard heater will be installed by mid January. The 5th bedroom has 2 twin beds and is connected to the 4th bedroom. Thanks again for taking the time to post this great review and for giving us the best compliment one could ask for, that you would definitely return.
