After searching for the perfect beach house getaway we finally found it. The home is right on the beach, comfortable and a great place to relax, read and watch some great Oregon coast storms roll in. I appreciated dealing with a friendly and competent owner as well. We will definitely return for our next getaway.
Owner response:Thank you very much for the compliments!

The Big Kahuna has the most incredible view....during high tide, it looks like you are floating in a house boat on the ocean--- minus the sea-sickness! The view from the hot tub is ridiculous, I could have floated around forever. A perfect respite during the winter storms. The house itself is nearly all windows on the beach side, and sprawling. Plenty of room for a large group, the softest sheets and most comfortable beds I've slept on in a loooong time! You have your own private beach access, a lawn, a big gas grill....everything you could possibly want to storm watch in comfort, and run back to from dramatic winter weather! Wish I was there RIGHT NOW!
Owner response:Yes, since the house is perched up on a small knoll, you get the most incredible 220 degree views imaginable. There is nothing quite like soaking in the hot tub while watching the waves roll in and crash on the beach. I wish I was there right now too!

House was great. Terrific views, good location, well-appointed kitchen, very comfortable. It's about a 10 minute drive from Cannon Beach and close to great hiking. The grill and hot tub are nice features and it has steps right down to the beach. We were there with two families, 4 adults and 5 kids and there was plenty of room for everyone. It's about as direct a drive as you can get to the coast from Portland too, so that's a plus. You won't be disappointed!
Owner response:Thanks for the great review!

What a wonderful vacation spot! The layout of the house allowed everyone privacy, and the rooms were all spacious and comfortable. The common area was open and with all the windows, the view would be hard to beat.....beautiful! My grandson said he wanted to stay there FOREVER.....and coming from him, that's VERY high praise.

My family has been vacationing on the Oregon Coast for ten years and the Big Kahuna is by far our favorite place. The view is breathtaking and the house is gorgeous. We loved sitting on the deck watching the sunset or enjoying the beautiful scenery from the hot tub. The kids loved having easy access to the beach. What a fabulous vacation!

Our family spent a long weekend at The Big Kahuna and loved it! The views are breathtaking and the accommodations are very comfortable. The bedrooms are large and private making it perfect for a family with small or adult children with grandchildren. Sitting in the hot tub taking in the ocean air, listening to the crashing waves and soaking in the views was magical! Walking the beach, creating sandcastles, flying kites and playing in the waves was soothing to the soul. I highly recommend this 'perfect spot'.
Owner response:It great to share our beach house and read about all the joys and excitement that other guests and families experience while staying here.

We have stayed at The BIG KAHUNA several times and absolutely love it!! The sleeping arrangements and number of bedrooms makes it the perfect place for large family vacations. It is well equipped, clean and comfortable. The views are breathtaking from the house and the hot tub. It is one of our favorite vacation homes and I would recommend it to anyone looking to go to the Oregon Coast.

The location and isolated beach were perfect - close to Cannon Beach but far enough to avoid the weekend crowds. The view was over the top, from everywhere in the great room and the kitchen, it was mesmerizing and the sunsets did not disappoint!

My best girlfriends and I chose this house for a girl's weekend getaway. We loved staying at the Big K. It looked as if the ocean was going to spill right into the living room! We were lucky to have little rain, and we got to enjoy the hot tub under the stars. Rooms are spacious, yet cozy. Plenty of room for everyone to hang out in the enormous living room. There is a little walkway to get right down to the beach and a nice amount of privacy from nearby homes. We highly recommend this property. -Janea Dahl (stayed February, 2010)

Our friends and I have rented the Big Kahuna for the two years in a row and absolutely love the house. Its spacious enough for four couples to hang out together in several common areas, and still have enough room for every couple to enjoy some solitude all at the same time. It's a short walk down a stairway from the backyard to the ocean; the setting is gorgeous, the beach is never crowded and the sunsets never disappoint. We and our circle of friends intend to make staying at the Big Kahuna our annual winter getaway.

The place was great! Quiet, beautiful beach, and a layout where a baby could sleep in the back without fear of us waking him up. Looking forward to staying there in the future.

This home is a real winner. Its expansive rooms, aesthetic furnishings, commanding ocean views along the west walls and deck were a thrill for everyone in our large party in good weather and bad.. The house can comfortably accommodate good sized family gatherings in the public rooms, parents can watch the children on the beach from the house, and the bedrooms are large enough and furnished to allow a retreat to privacy for those who need to escape a crowd! We will definitely be back.

This lovely, well appointed home has great aesthetics and furnishings, is equipped with everything you need, and has grand ocean views! We all loved every moment there and will definitely be back. The living room is spacious and was flexible enough for us to have a group of 15 meet comfortably there twice a day. It is a great place for a family gathering!

I have discovered my favorite place to get away every year, this place was beautiful and classy, felt right at home and appreciated all the little details. The hardest thing besides leaving the beach house is trying not to give away my new secret, and the agates, what a treasure..
