San Carlos condo description
Located directly on the sugar-white sands and emerald water of the Gulf of Mexico, San Carlos offers great views in every direction. Accommodations are luxurious, including high-speed elevators. The property features a large (zero depth walk-in) outdoor pool, well equipped fitness center and sauna. Also the 1800 sq. ft. meeting room (with kitchen) is great for family reunions and special business get-togethers. The first two floors is a covered parking garage so you will be near to the elevators. The unit features broadband internet, flat screen plasma HD tv's with DVD players in the Living Room and ALL Bedrooms. All furnishing and other appointments are first class.
If you are unfamiliar with San Carlos. It is a new one. Not yet full so there aren't the long waits for elevators nor is the pool or beach crowded. Yet it is probably the best location (the old Gulf Shores Holiday Inn site) for other amenities such as para sailing and other beach activities on the Alabama coast. More than a dozen restaurants and night clubs (three right on the beach) and several beach attire shops are within walking distance and it is less than 2 miles to many more restaurants, fast food places, drug and grocery stores plus Walmart and other shopping. The Foley outlet stores are less than 10 miles. This beautifully appointed condo is on the 11th floor and close to the elevators. The balcony is large and presents a great beach view both directions including the main the main beach park ½ miles to the west. The master bed is king size, the other two bedrooms and the fold out couch in the living room are queen size.

- San Carlos is directly on the beach, THE BEST LOCATION and a NEWER CONDO. It’s not really high density so there aren't as long waits for elevators nor is the pool or beach crowded. It is probably the most convenient location (the old Gulf Shores Holiday Inn site) for other amenities such as para-sailing and other beach activities on the Alabama coast. Only 4/10th of a mile from the Hwy 59 “T” (at the Hang Out). More than a dozen restaurants and night clubs (3 right on the beach) and several beach attire shops are within walking distance and it is just a short, less than 2 mile, drive to many more restaurants, fast food places, grocery and other shopping--including Walmart. We arrived to a smoked in condo advertised as non-smoking
We are non-smokers and rented what we thought was a non-smoking condo according to the description. When we arrived, the condo had a bad smoke odor that was in all of the linens and on the hard surfaces. I emailed the owner and asked to have the condo treated the next morning but, the owner did not respond. We had to buy candles and smoke elimination spray to make our stay tolerable. There was also a shortage of waste baskets and only one night stand (side table for your personal items) for each bed. Even though the Master bedroom is king-sized, there was only one night stand with a flimsy pole lamp on one side. We had to use some of the kitchen stools beside our beds (all three beds were the same way). Other than the three issues, the rest of our stay was nice and as described. It is a lovely building with nice amenities but, this owner doesn't seem to understand his responsibility towards making your stay as nice as possible for the price charged. The cleaning persons did not appear to do their job by reporting the smell of smoke after the previous rentors checked out. Or, maybe they did and the owner chose to ignore them too. Not recommended for non-smokers and people with alergies.

Owner response: This is a no-smoking unit. Our cleaning service is aware that ours is a No smoking and no pets unit and those are two items on their check list. When cleaned for the prior visitors no smoke or other odors were noted. The head of our service came by to check after the complaint and did not notice any smoke smell either. However, when the complainant checked out our cleaning service did not a strong burnt bacon odor for which they sprayed. We have never before had any complaints about odors of any kind. There are wastebaskets in all three baths and in the kitchen. As far as the furnishings, towels, linens, kitchen ware, kitchen equipment and accessories most of our visitors have been more than complimentary. This visitor also has their own unit and needed another for additional family. It is conceivable that this visitor knocks other units to create a preference their own. We have never had any other adverse reviews in the four years on VRBO.
