This stately house was built in 1844 by John Maynard, a local grocer. His brother, William Maynard, helped attract the University of Michigan to Ann Arbor by donating part of the original 40 acre campus. The house pre-dates the University of Michigan by 15 years. It has a 600 square foot front porch and a beautiful private garden in the rear. It has been highlighted on HGTV. A full to the studs rehab was completed about four years ago.
The Maynard House is perfect for anything going on in Ann Arbor; movie productions, sports, campus events, UMS performances, and of course Art Fair. While the home has only been open to the public for under a year, we've already had movie stars and TV personalities as guests. It is located in the heart of downtown, about 1-3 blocks from everything: Kerrytown, Zingerman’s Deli, Eve’s Restaurant, the Farmers Market, the Campus Inn, most of the downtown churches, and the University of Michigan. We are proximate to Main Street, the Ark, the UM hospitals, and the Gandy Dancer as well. Whether you are attending or performing at a University event, a family reunion, wedding, or just want to get away, you won’t find a better location and more gracious accommodations. It is the perfect bridal headquarters if you’re having a wedding!
This three bedroom home is about 3700 square feet. The master suite private bath features a Kohler pedestal tub and IV Georges polished nickel fixtures. The two other bedrooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom (individual sinks, shared tub/shower and toilet).
