We had a wonderful week in the lovely cabin. Everything was thoughtfully laid out and ready for us. The cabin is delightful - very quiet and peaceful. Thank you for sharing it.

Your mountain retreat is terrific - the perfect place to kick back and get away from the grind of everyday life. The two porches overlooking the creek are just as relaxing as you described - so much so that I had to be forcefully yanked out of the porch swing. The cabin has all the comforts and ammenities necessary to make vacationing just what it should be - an easy escape! The location is ideal for daily trips to any of the sites you want to go - from Ashville to Nantahala, from the Blue Ridge Parkway to Maggi Valley and from Cherokee to Smokie Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg and Cades Cove. We were fortunate enough to be there when the leaves were still at their peak and when one of the first real cold snaps brought snow to the upper elevations - beautiful - just like a winter wonderland. We sure enjoyed the fireplace on those cold nights and being lullabied to sleep by the creek - which had swelled quite a lot from the rains - was priceless. I hope to return again. Sincerely, Rodney, Plant City, Florida

We had such a good time relaxing and enjoying the scenery, that we didn't want to leave. Every morning a flock of wild turkeys went past the creek. Saw a few deer on the way to and from the cabin. This is the first time my wife ever wanted to stay longer than planned. The cabin was great, we didn't expect it to be so well equipped. The grill had charcoal and there was a stack of firewood ready to go. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Sylva, Waynesville, Smokie Mountains, Highlands and Cashiers. Be sure to see as many waterfalls as possible. If you like horseback riding, check out Arrowmont Stables. We brought a portable DVD player and it was good we did, as the satellight didn't pick up many channels. Some people just have to have TV for entertainment.
Owner response:With so many things to enjoy most of our visitors just do not take time to watch TV. We receive all major networks, pbs, news and weather . . more than enough to keep up with the outside world. A fine selection of books, games and puzzles are available for good old-fashioned entertainment.

We stayed in this beautiful country cabin the last week of July 2011. It was the hottest week of the year and I was a little concerned when we first arrived and discovered the only AC was a tiny window unit on the upper floor. However, we were NEVER hot. We kept the many sliding glass doors and windows open. The cabin is totally covered with shade from the surrounding forrest and the cool mountain breezes kept us at an ideal temperature. We actually got chilly at night and had to close the doors. The most wonderful thing about our entire vacation was staying in this little cabin. The furniture was beautiful, as well as comfortable. It is evident that the Knapps are spending a great deal of time finding just the right pieces with which to decorate and furnish. The cabin was also well-stocked with just about everything we needed. Our children (a 13 yr old girl and a 9 yr old boy) did not want to leave the cabin. They loved exploring the wooded areas surrounding the cabin, picking wildflowers, and playing in icy waters of the creek. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the porches and listening to rushing waters. We also enjoyed having our morning coffee and breakfast outside on the deck. There is something magical about having a meal accompanied by the sounds of nature. At the end of our week we were totally relaxed and well rested. We reluctantly loaded our car and said goodbye to this little patch of paradise. If we ever return to the Great Smoky Mountains, we will definitly be staying in this delightful cabin.

Our family of four stayed in early July. We have a four and a six year old. They both enjoyed picking wildflowers, playing in the creek, and searching for rocks with sparkling mica. The parking was a bit difficult with our extended cab pickup, but after the first time we mastered the ten point turn around. This cabin with the creek at the bottom is private and peaceful. We enjoyed hiking along the road and the fact that it was within a half hour of many outdoor activities.
Owner response:Parking is limited in front of our cabin with a tight but navigable turn-a-round . However, there is more than adequate additional parking for larger vehicles below. Stones found with sparkling mica are called 'fools gold'. Fun for children and adults alike to find in our creek. We have a lovely meadow below us with a much flatter winding road to hike on. Wildflowers are everywhere when in bloom.

This mountainside cabin is in a very beautiful setting with a lively creek nearby.Although there are other cabins scattered in the general area, the density of the forest and the orientation of this cabin give a feeling of isolation and privacy. It is comfortable, tasteful, and well-designed for guests to make themselves at home while visiting the NC mountains. We three old friends met at the cabin for a long Thanksgiving weekend. As it turned out,the weather became cold and wet; however, with plenty of firewood provided ,we were cozy in front of the fireplace.....cooking and talking and watching sappy, sweet Christmas movies on TV. When the weather was nicer, we enjoyed wonderful walks into the adjoining mountain forest and on the pretty, and much flatter, winding road that leads to the cabin. Sylva, nearby, is a charming town of shops and restaurants.... .everything you could need...with a great bakery.Although we were at the cabin mostly to enjoy each other's company in a beautiful place,we had a lovely outing picnicking and strolling through the Cradle of Forestry, not so very far away. In general, this is a very nice property, and we would definitely consider it again for a future visit.

We stayed there for a couple of days and never left the cabin other than to play around the creek. This was a stress free getaway and we really took it easy and enjoyed the peace and quiet time. The weather was cool outside so the fireplace was great. The Cabin owners are good folks. They emailed all the info we needed to get there and the place was clean when we arrived. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place to be. The sounds of the creek is awesome while sitting out on the huge deck. Our Daughter loved the creek the most and wished is would have been warmer to play in. Maybe next time we can come back earlier in the year.

My cousin and I were planning a 'reunion' in the country. We wanted to reconnect without much outside interference. We liked the pictures we saw of this cabin and we were SO glad we chose it for our vacation. It was very peaceful and relaxing to stay at this cabin. I especially liked having the bedrooms downstairs, something I'd never experienced before. We took day trips while we were there - to Nantahala Forest, Gatlinburg, Asheville. We went hiking in the mountains a few times and it was nice to go back to the cabin to cook dinner there. I'm thinking of returning in the spring to see what it's like in warmer weather. I highly recommend this cabin as a nice place to stay away from the bustle of city life. The owner is very cordial, as is the property manager. Both were willing to help us with any questions we had. One of the highlights of our trip was a Segway tour of downtown Asheville. Barley's Tap Room has great pizza. Try the barbecue at 12 Bones or Luella's. The Grove Park Inn is a bit pricey, but the lobby and view are beautiful. We sat in the rocking chairs and had a drink the night before we left town. We both left NC feeling well-rested and with memories of a wonderful vacation.

Hello Ed I run out of superlatives describing your home !! I can only imagine the beauty of the place in spring. Trust me, I am not speaking for myself, all of us, including my ' hard to please' older boy had only great things to say about the cabin, creek, mountainside and the whole area in general. We will definitely make a trip to your cabin again next summer. Thanks again, Shree

Our family of five (including 2 kids) greatly enjoyed the stay at this cabin in the Smokies. The cabin, built on the mountainside, is well surrounded by mature trees and lush vegetation. We loved sitting on the deck and listening to the water flowing in the creek below the cabin. The kids (and adults too) enjoyed splashing in the creek. Oh, what a lovely place !!! Words cannot describe how pretty this place is. The owners have kept the cabin in immaculate condition and it is very homely and clean inside, the cabin is well furnished and has nice interior decorations. Also, the owners and the property manager were very accessible during our stay. There are lots of outdoor activities within 20-30 mins of the cabin, for those adventure seekers. We did the jet boat ride in Bryson City (which was a blast and about 30 mins away). The cabin is located in a very serene and peaceful area. If you are reading this review and are thinking of coming here, trust me, you won't go wrong with this cabin. We left with heavy hearts and fond memories. Thank you for sharing your splendid home with us!!! Will surely come back again !!!

My family stayed in your vacation home just after Christmas last year. We had a wonderful time! If it's not too much trouble, can you tell me the name of the creek that rushes thru the land? What is the name of the mountain where your place sits? Thankyou for your time. Kenny, Winter Springs, FL Answers: North Fork Creek Located just below Waterrock Knob & Yellow Face in the Balsams

Thankyou for allowing us to stay in your home. It was the perfect place for my family to enjoy some time together before our children went back to school. We brought our daughter back to college at Western Carolina University. Our son, who is doing an engineering internship near Lexington Ky, joined us to see where his sister goes to school. We had a very good time. Kelly, Burlington, WI

We had a wonderful time in the mountains, made even better by the stay in your cabin/home! The sound of the stream in the morning on the porch and in the evening from bed were very relaxing . . . just what we needed at the beginning and end of a fun-filled day!
