Keywords: House near beach
"Casa Gavilan" [hawk house] is located in the tropical rainforests of the OSA Peninsula which is surrounded on one side by the pristine Golfo Dulce [sweet gulf] and on the other side by the glorious expansive Pacific Ocean. The house lies 150 yds. from the beach which has views of the Costa Rican and Panamanian coastlines. The house is only 3 miles from Cabo Matapalo which is known for excellent surfing, yet good surfing is as close as 1/2 mile away.
This area of Costa Rica remains one of the most unspoiled and biodiverse places, not just in this friendly country, but in the world. Home to Corcovado National Park and more, this ecosystem supports wildlife that includes four species of monkeys, flocks of scarlet macaws, toucans, sloths, iguanas, anteaters and countless birds. The nearby gulf is a seasonal route for whales, but dolphins and whale sharks are regularly seen here. Butterfly species and exotic insects are of interest to the curious. The gorgeous blue morpho graces the shaded areas often. The flora is as varied as the fauna with smells and taste never before experienced.
"Casa Gavilan" is a simple, comfortable, tropical home powered by the sun via solar panels. It has the option to be a "bug free haven" with screens thru out for those who prefer such an environment.
A small "ranchito" [thatch covered structure] is available for comfy shaded hammock relaxation and picnic fun directly on the beach.
Be sure to check out the many options for adventure, exploration and peaceful serenity in this unique, remote jungle paradise.

Casa Gavilan has it all, sound of surf, big scarlet mccaws, toucans, green parrots, monkeys right from sunny or shady patio [front & back]
Owner response:the garden and yard are coming along very colorful and nice. There are four surf breaks within 10 min walk. We have both high tide and low tide breaks.

The first thing I saw when we pulled onto the property was a huge hawk circling the house, that's how I knew my stay here would be incredible. Arrived late day in time for sunset and walked down to the beach following the sounds of the jungle and the surf. I was delighted to lay in the warm sand in the mid of nowhere with no one in sight. Paradise. The perfect place to work on my book. . The colors, sounds and smells and the feeling of tranquility that I experienced will remain w/ me forever. Breakfast on the sunny patio...kicking back with coffee and watching the wildlife show all around me, a perfect way to start the day. Make sure to go to Esperanzas' bar on Fri nite a great way to meet the awesome locals.

Everything you could ask for. The house has all the ameneties, plus! Slept like a baby...Very comforatable and VERY private, but within an awesome community if you "were" to need anything. There is a little cove called "little Germany" where even I , the ultimate beginner felt safe enough to give surfing a try at high tide. Great beach walks in the early am and eves. The locals are so helpful we left feeling like we've made a few lifelong friends. Loved the parrots, toucans and macaws that hang near the house... they became part of the family. Even seeing the photo pop up on my screen to "write a review" made me homesick! Buy groceries and supplies in Jimenez on your way in....you won't want to leave.
