We stayed in Di's flat for a week while we attended our daughter's graduation from UCSF medical school. It was very comfortable for 3 people and well furnished with everything we needed. It was extremely clean. It even has a garage which is a bonus in San Francisco! Our daughter, who lives in Hayes Valley, parked her car there all week rather than search for parking spaces. We were very comfortable here and definitely will stay again on our next visit! Di is so sweet and friendly and very responsive to any e-mails or phone calls. I would highly recommend this rental for anyone wishing to stay in lovely Hayes Valley!

This was our second stay with Di, and will not be our last. We love the location, the neighborhood, the local eateries, and the central location of this lovely and authentic flat. You will love everything about it! Di gave us the magic keys ( tips) on how to NOT get lost. She ensures you have everything you need to be comfortable and happy. And easy street parking..or the garage! The rates are unheard of , and very much appreciated --- leaves more money to spend on great food at local ( walking distance) restaurants and bakeries. Try 'Stacks' 2 blocks walk --OMG!!---La BouLange Bakery ( same street, directly across from Stacks) for breakfast and sweet treats. And 'll Borgo' across the street from the flat ..pasta to dream about. Thank you again Di for a fabulous stay! Sincerely, Janet, Stephen, and Cheyenne.

This unit is well located in the heart of San Francisco. City Hall, Symphony Hall, the Herbst Theatre and many other major attractions are just a few blocks away and an easy walk on level ground. The Hayes neighborhood is pleasant and full of interesting shops and very good restaurants and all the locals are very friendly. It is a very comfortable neighborhood. Best of all, Di took very good care of us during our stay. She has very helpful suggestions for activities and she showed us how to get around on public transportation, which is much more relaxing and convenient than trying to drive and find parking spaces in San Francisco. The unit is quaint and just the thing if you want to experience the Victorian way of life in San Francisco. Be sure to try all the local restaurants. If you are from the Mid-West and prefer comfort food then be sure to visit Stacks for breakfast or lunch. Thank you Di for a wonderful vacation! We look forward to afternoon tea with you again sometime. Mike from Minnesota

We were very happy with our stay with Di. The apartment was actually better than I expected, very clean and furnished beautifully. We brought our own playpen for our daughter to sleep in, but it turns out there was one available! We arrived very late to check-in, around 11PM, but Di was very gracious and waited for us. Also, eventhough she usually turns down the heat in the evening (which also controls her side of the building), she was willing to keep it a bit higher for us since we had a baby. Many restaurants nearby and very convenient to transit. We would definitely stay there again if we return to San Francisco.

Car space was good for the days we rented a car to travel up and down the coast. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Di.

We were looking for a place close to where our daughter lives in Hayes Valley and this flat fit us perfectly, being a five minute walk to her apartment! It is also walking distance many nice restaurants, shops, and public transportation.Try Domo restaurant for sushi in Hayes Valley and Cha Cha Cha restaurant in the Haight for Brazilian, delicious! The flat is amazingly quiet for being on such a busy street, a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is spacious and very clean, and has the best stocked kitchen of any vacation rental we've stayed in. Di was a very friendly and accommodating hostess. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and plan on staying there again in the future.

I have so many good things to say about Di and her place that I hope I have enough space here to do that. Di is an amazing host. She is helpful in every way and very easy to talk to. The flat was immaculate. I am a cleaning freak and her place was spotless. It was very cute and 4 would fit perfectly and comfortably. It is centrally located. I love walking on Hayes Street. We took the F line to get to the Ferry Building on saturday to the Farmers Market. Di works there but for some reason we missed her. I also took bus 71 to get to Haight street. Three days at Outside Lands would not be so awesome without the flat. It made it extremely convenient to get to. If we ever in the city again, we definitely are coming back to Di's flat.

Di's apartment was just perfect for our one week stay in SF. Di provided us cheerful and reliable service from the start of the reservation until our departure. The apartment was cosy, very clean and had everything needed for such a stay (good furnished kitchen and small but complete bathroom). The bedroom for two is confortable and quiet, the living room where you can also sleep is a bit less quiet as Fell street has some trafic. What we even more appreciated was that it is located in the middle of the Lower Haight, where you can walk around and find many interesting shops and delicious restaurants. It is also close to almost everything you want to see in SF, via efficient buses (which go directly to Union Square, Ferry Building, Embarcadero, SoMa, Golden Gate bridge, Golden Gate Parc, aso, and to the cable cars that bring you up to Chinatown and many other places). You can buy one of those passports and you can go up and down the buses and cable cars as many times as you want. The apartment has also a garage, which was nice when I rented a car one day to go to the Muir Woods Park, but in SF you don't really need one as you can walk everywhere with the help of the buses. Great city, great apartment and very nice owner. I would go back there if ever I get to SF again. Sorry for my english, as me and my two teenagers come from Switzerland.

The house is very spacious, fully equipped, clean and especially comfortable. It is located in a convenient location for services, near Market St, one of the most important streets of the city that connects you to all the attractions of the city. In the house there hangs a large map always ready to point you in the right direction. Di (the owner) lives in the house next door, always has been, during our stay, a welcoming person, ready to give us travel advice, to help solve all our problems or concerns, always with a beautiful smile. It 'a house that I'd recommend to anyone who wants to go to San Francisco and in the future we would definitely return in the same house. Valentina&Jacopo

Excellent base for exploring San Fransisco. Leave the car in the garage (for european visitors, when US reviewers say that the garage fits a small car, they really mean a normal car) and walk. If it seems to far to walk, taxi to/from most parts of town is about USD 10. When finishing vintage shopping in Haight, our two teenage daughters were quite happy with the designer stores in Hayes Valley (and we found a few good restaurants) so you really do not need to go anywhere. And BTW, the host and the apartment are excellent.

We stayed for a weekend at the flat and it was a such an enjoyable getaway. The place is clean and tidy with everything you would need if you want to cook. We parked in the garage and didn't take the car out till we left. There are two restaurants at the end of the block and many others close by.- and lots of shops. It is a great location- easy to get to any down town destination. Thanks Di for a great stay and it was so nice to meet you. Hope to be back sometime.

We spent a wonderfull stay in SF : the apartment of Mrs Harris is very comfortable , very spacious (even for a family with two young boys). The location of the apartment is also very good : it takes at most 10 minutes by bus to go downtown SF, and many bus stop are near the flat. Moreover, the welcoming of Di is very nice ! We really advice this apartment for those many advantages ! Thank you Di and see you in Paris if you want!!

Once again, we enjoyed our month of January at this location. The apt is situated so well, it's very convenient to travel everywhere via bus, streetcar, or on foot. On this trip, we purchased a one month travel pass ($20 for retired people) and it was useable on streetcars, buses, the MUNI, and also, on the cable car. A great way to see the city without the hassle of parking. Di was a great help and recommended a few eating establishments nearby that we had missed the previous visit. We will most certainly stay at this location any time we travel to San Francisco and highly recommend it to other couples who enjoy the city. One last thing, we used the garage on this trip and it was great to have our car "off the street".
Owner response:Thanks so much for your staying at the flat, it was a pleasure to have you both, and hope that you will come to visit again soon. Best regards Di

I will stay there again when I am in San Francisco since I like the area and the owner is very gracious and helpful. Everything was clean and well kept with all amentities provided. Stayed 4 nights in late October during a quick visit from NY. As former residents of SF, we had no desire to stay at a hotel in Union Square or downtown. This apartment was reasonably priced, clean, spacious and Di made sure we were well taken care of. There are dozens of restaurants, coffee shops and retail stores within a 5 block radius. If you want to know what it's like to live in a San Francisco neighborhood, this is a great choice.

Two girlfriends and I stayed here in October. This apartment fit our needs. We were able to prepare meals in the full kitchen, and the garage was something we really needed. Actually, we chose this apartment because it included the garage. While doing things around the city, we used public transportation which was easily accessible. We did need to take the car out several times for longer trips and it was great to not have to worry about street parking, and just pull into the garage. It's a tight fit, but no problem for a compact or even a standard size which is what we had. A good neighborhood restaurant is the Alamo Seafood Grill.Free corkage is on Wednesdays, so we brought our own wine and enjoyed a great (and not too expensive) meal. There are other restaurants dotting the neighborhood too. Safeway groceries, not far, on Market Street as well. Not a bad location for seeing the city! Di was helpful with our orientation and suggestions, and there is a huge map of the area on the wall in the livingroom which really came in handy. Books, brochures, and maps are available if you need them. Overall, very good experience. Thanks.

Di, thanks again for everything, please be sure that we will recommend your appartment and that we will come back if we return to San Francisco!!!!

I needed a place with a garage since I had some driving to do during my three night stay. The flat is in a great location - two blocks from the Muni, one block from the eateries. Domo Sushi and Frjtz were wonderful restaurants right around the corner with food that just hit the spot. The flat was very clean and well equipped and it looked exactly like it does in the pictures. It's located in a busy yet safe street and access to the freeway was a cinch. The garage was plenty enough room for my Smart Car. I rested well since it was nice and quiet, hardly any noise from the streets or a peep from the occupants living above the flat. I took nice hot showers after long days of activity and I managed to actually use the oven to bake the pizza I purchased from Trader Joe. I just wish I had time in the morning to enjoy a cup of coffee out on the little seating area outside of the kitchen. I'd like to thank Di for being so patient for waiting for my arrival. She is a perfect host as she showed me everything, then left me to unwind from a long drive. She never intruded and only called me once with a question (which was if I liked watermelon!) She brought me three huge slices of which I could only eat one, I was already full from my pizza. And yes, I ate at Kate's Kitchen, as suggested by Di, and I'm glad I did it on my last morning there. The New England Flannel Hash was so delicious! You've got to try it! Kate's is just a short walk up the street. Next time I'm there by myself I'll probably stay there again. I highly recommend this flat! Mahalo Di, you are a fabulous host.

Our family of 2 adults and one teenage daughter had a fabulous time in San Francisco, staying at Di's flat in Hayes Valley. We'd really recommend it as an alternative to a hotel. It's easy to get downtown by public transport and it's walking distance from Hayes Street with all its lovely shops and great places to eat. Golden Gate Park is nearby, as is Castro, Alamo Square and other great places. There's also a supermarket nearby and several really good delis. It was good to stay away from all the bustle of downtown, yet be close by. We had lots of correspondence with Di before we came and she was always incredibly helpful. During our stay she was really great, making sure we had everything we needed but not being intrusive in any way. The flat is lovely and spacious and it was good to have a separate area for our daughter to sleep in. The beds are huge and really comfy and the kitchen is better equipped than our one at home! It's really nicely decorated and even has 2 TVs. Although the outside road is really busy you can't hear it from the flat - it's nice and quiet and really feels like a home from home. We'd love to go back and would thoroughly recommend this flat to anyone!

If you are looking to stay in an excellent location and a comfortable apartment, go no further. We spent 10 days here, and it was the highlight of our trip to the USA (we are Australians). Di was a warm and thoughtful host, who made us feel very welcome and helped with 'start-up' details and any questions, but did not intrude on our independence. The apartment itself is very clean and well-equipped for all cooking needs. Hayes Valley was a great place to stay. We could access all parts of the city by public transport or on foot. Within a couple of streets are excellent restaurants, foodstores and interesting shops. If you are into organic food, there is a well-stocked grocery store close by, and the market at the United Nations Plaza, on Wednesday and Saturday, will supply farm- fresh foods. But you must try out the local restaurants, at surprisingly good prices. I would recommend this place to anyone who would rather not stay in a chain hotel. You can visit Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf if you want, but this is the place to stay!

We could have taken the bus down the road but enjoyed walking the city. I look forward to coming back one day and will definatly look into staying here again. Not touristy, but you can get to the more touristy areas easily. Fell street is a busy street, but once your inside the apartment, it's not noisy at all. This was our second stay at the apartment and we just love it. Di is great. Very easy to get along with. Already booked our third stay. Oh, the garage, priceless! The apt is nicely furnished and is extremely quiet even though it is located on a busy street. We were able to park our large sized Jeep in the garage and that was a big bonus as we stayed for the entire month of January, 2010. Best of all is the location. You can walk to Japantown, the Public Library, downtown, and easily to Market St where you can catch the streetcars or buses. There are two Safeway stores within walking distance. And we really enjoyed the shops and bakery nearby on Hayes St. Di was a huge help to us and is always available in case a problem arises. We highly recommend this location for your stay in San Francisco. You won't be disappointed.

We spent a great week in san francisco. The apartment is very comfortable, and Di is lovely. We decided to rent an apartment rather than go to a hotel to have breakfast and relax in a quiet place that was like our home. In this apartment we got it. The site also has a very good situation. Hayes Valley is a great neighborhood. You have many lovely restaurants to choose from. Di may recommend as she did with us. And the site is precious. With many Victorian homes. And with the "painted ladies" for a couple of blocks. To go downtown (Union Square & downtown) have a tram near from there. A couple of blocks also have a supermarket to buy some food. We can not imagine being in a better place than this apartment. Thank you very much Di! Rosa, Mariquina & Cristina

I enjoyed staying at this apartment. The place is actually nicer than the photos and is more spacious than the photos show. I enjoyed the fact that there is a garage (it is small so don't get an SUV because it won't fit). A remote for the garage door is included with the rental which is nice. There is a full size washer and dryer in the garage. This was a huge advantage as we could wash some of our clothes and having that freedom was so nice and the fact that it was in the private garage made it better. Your garage is a seperate area that is shared with no one which I think made it even better. There is a small patio area near the rear door in the kitchen with a small table where you could eat outside. The kitchen is nice with granite countertops and gas appliances. The kitchen has everything you need. The bedroom is a good size with plenty of room. There are plenty of nice sheets, fluffy pillows, and blankets. The bed was also very comfortable. There is a TV in both the bedroom and the living room which was nice. The living room is larger than the pictures show. The living room does let in some road noise and I think if Di were to add a small fan to the rental to drown that noise out it would be a big help. That is the only issue we had. I would like to commend Di on having extra pillows, blankets, dishes. Also she stocked it with plenty of towels (8 bath towels & several kitchen towels), paper towels, toilet paper, sweeteners and kitchen items. She also had everything stocked for making coffee so when we arrived we didn't immediately have to go to the grocery store to make coffee the next morning. We have stayed at other condos and had to buy extra toilet paper and grocery items. This was a pleasant surprise and is a little thing that makes your stay more convenient and easy. Di was very helpful and very nice. I enjoyed her help with everything. It is nice that she lives next door if you need anything. She has a great rental and I am very happy that I chose her rental. The location of this rental is great. You are only a few blocks from Market Street and if you take the 21 bus it can get you to the Ferry Building in about 20-25 minutes. I enjoyed Paxti's for pizza and The Crepe House for chocolate desert crepes. It is close to everything and is a nice area with many shops and restaurants.
Owner response:Thanks so much for the comments, I will continue to enjoy and do my best to serve my guests. This flat is a very well taken care of place, very cozy, and homely, it is a great 1875 Victorian house with lots of original fitures, you will see when you come and stay here. There are double layer of glasses on the front windows, it does cut out most of the noises from the street outside.

We highly recommend this apartment for anyone visiting the Bay area. The apartment was clean, quiet and conveniently located. Di was an absolute pleasure to deal with and we would not hesitate staying here next time we visit San Francisco.

Very comfortable flat right in the city. The location was wonderful for people watching, eating, drinking and shopping. We used the garage (what a treat to have in San Francisco) once we returned from our work each day, then we parked and walked to the wonderful local restaurants and shops. The Hayes district is really popular and being able to walk a block and enjoy it all was a real plus. Highly recommend the Italian place on the corner, and 1/2 block past it the German place - another 1/2 block and you could get fresh bread and pastries at the bakery, oh and right down the street is the Greek deli (good humus, pita bread and local beers available). Di is a wonderful host, there when you need her, but never intrusive. The place with garage is a good value for this area. Thanks again for a lovely stay and great recommendations for eating out!

We had a great 10 days stay in July and loved the apartment and the location. The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Our teenage daughter had her own spacious room with sofa and TV. The location was perfect and it was easy to go all over the city by bus. We also rent a car for couple of days and it was very convenient to have indoor garage. Our daughter enjoyed the Internet access which gave her the opportunity to stay in touch with her friends. This was our first experience to rent apartment instead of hotel and we were very happy about our choice. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends. Fell Street is truly an ideal home away from home. Di is a lovely and helpful host. The apartment is spacious and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need: plates, cookware, dishwashing liquid, laundry facilities, extra bedding, spices, etc. I loved the high ceilings and architectural details typical of older San Francisco buildings. Both the bedroom and living room have TVs and sleeping facilities (sofa bed in the latter), and set of French doors in between, so two sets of people can have their own sleeping space (though you'll need to go through the bedroom for middle-of-the-night bathroom visits). A parking space is an unheard of luxury in San Francisco and was much appreciated during our stay, since it's better to take public transportation when sightseeing around the city. There's easy bus access to downtown or other SF attractions. Charming Hayes Valley has a wealth of shops and restaurants: try the Belgian mussels and fries at Frjtz on Hayes Street, sample the divine desserts at Citizen Cake on Grove Street, get an amazing facial at Primrose Natural Skincare on Laguna. A really lovely, pleasant escape from the city's busier areas!

We (father, mother and todler son)spend four days at this lovely, clean en spacious apartment. Though far away from Amsterdam we felt right at home and the wonderfull apartment was fully equiped to meet all our needs. Di was lovely and helpfull and with all the sights nearby, great restaurants just around the corner and parking right out front, our stay at this apartment made a perfect finish to a wonderfull time in the States. We'll be back!

As San Francisco natives, now long resettled elsewhere for thirty-five years, we believe that this wonderful flat will be our future destination when we return home. Great location, easy local transportation, superp variety of restaurants and shops in walking distance, city center 20 minutes away by foot. What could be better?

We stayed for five nights in April and had a great time. The apartment is clean and welcoming and in great part of the city that is central and easy to reach. Others have mentioned how helpful Di was and our experience is no different, she is great and we have made a new friend! One of the best trips to San Francisco so far and largely due to the accommodation and the host.

My wife, myself and sons stayed for a week over the March Spring break. It was a great setup made even better by the hospitality of Di, our hostess. The location is great and close to all forms of transport if walking is not your passion. In addition the vehicle parking space was a real bonus. If SF calls again we will be sure to stay here again.
