Rented the Happy House for my family to stay in during our wedding weekend. And happy they (and I were). Great digs, fun vibe, responsive owners. Even the February sky opened for some beautiful Whidbey island sunbreaks!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Rented the property for my family to stay in for our wedding. Near or place and near the Coupeville hot spots. Perfect for the nieces and nephews, grandma and grandpa and the rest of the gang. House was clean, neatly appointed, and all around fun. Owners were pleasant, responsive, and timely.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children.

Lovely home, great location, beautiful view, very nice owner. Here are my complaints: After requesting the dates for our stay and being sent a rental agreement, the owner asked if we could come one day later because he had double booked. He offered a 10% discount and removed the pet fee for our dog. Not a bad compromise, but it did cut our vacation short by one day. I could have looked elsewhere, but the owner was very sincerely apologetic, and the cost significantly less. Upon arrival, the hottub was ICE cold, as it turned out the water had been changed that afternoon. I do appreciate a clean hottub, but I also appreciate being able to use that hottub. It is one of the most important amenities, for which we prefer cabin rentals over hotel rooms for our getaways. It was still way too cold to use before bedtime, as well as the next morning. We were able to use it on our second night, but even then, it was only up to 99 degrees, which doesn't feel that hot on a February night. Like I said, I much prefer a clean tub to a dirty one, but we paid for an amenity that we were not able to use. The smell that many people mention, I think it's a catbox in one of the locked cupboards. The tap water is not for drinking, so bring bottled water (they should install one of those purifiers on the tap), and there's no dishwasher, so if you cook like we do, bring some rubber gloves. Otherwise the place is fully stocked. All of that said, the owner was sincerely apologetic about double booking, and about the hottub. For that, I can mostly get over the issues. It's a nice, clean home, better suited for families with children than just a couple with a dog. It's in a quiet area (except for the home currently being built across the street), 5 minutes from town and the grocery store, and has an amazing view off the back deck.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children.

We were overall very happy with The Happy House. The kitchen was well stocked and there were tons of games and books in the living room. The only recommended addition would be a dishwasher. We look forward to returning sometime in the future!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

Absolutely wonderful place. Classily decorated - great view, especially from the deck and hot tub. Spent a lot of time with a glass of wine reading a book on the deck. And there's even two of any vacation book you'd want to read! Comfortable beds, clean and fully equipped kitchen. Owners easy to work with. Would recommend!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Very enjoyable. The huge deck is awesome. The house is very roomy and well-appointed. Great to have a washer and dryer. Well-maintained. It helped, of course, that the weather couldn't have been any better with clear nights for star-gazing and meteor-watching. Nice and quiet; still close to town. We would stay again and would definitely recommend to friends or relatives.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We came here for my fiance's birthday with some friends, and had a wonderful time! We cooked and BBQed to our hearts content, hiked the bluffs and beaches of the Island, played board games, drank single-malt scotch, and sang merry melodies. The hot tub was a particular triumph, as was the gorgeous view, the well-stocked kitchen, and the deck. Thanks for a great time!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Why the Owner Chose Coupeville:
We bought this house to use as a second home and found that we weren't using it as much as we thought we would. We then decided to share it with others. We had been coming to Whidbey Island for years on vacation before we decided to buy. We hope that you will enjoy our house as much as we do, and you may even find yourself coming back as we and many of our guests have.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The best things about this house are how quiet it is, how far from civilization you feel, how relaxed you are, how great the hottub and its views are, how easy it is to see all of the island from this central location, and how easy it is to get to Seattle from here.
Some of our favorite restaurants include The Oystercatcher in downtown Coupeville - a small local place that uses local ingredients only (oystercatcherwhidbey dot com), also Frasers Gourmet Hideaway in Oak Harbor - a slightly larger restaurant, with an excellent menu in the Northwest Style (frasersgh dot com), and Prima Bistro in Langley - a perfect bistro style French restaurant that rivals food in some of the very best French bistros from NYC to SF (primabistro dot com)
