My fiance and I really enjoyed our two night stay at Bear Necessities! We drove down for a quick weekend getaway from Lexington, Ky. We loved everything from the game room, washer and dryer, hot tub, cooking amenities, and more. We really would have been fine to never leave the cabin! It was easy to get to from the directions given and very convenient to activities in the area. The only activities we did were hiking at Chimney Tops and shopping at the Tanger Outlets, but both were convenient. Thanks for a great, affordable getaway!

My husband and I planned a get away for a baby moon-our last trip together before the baby arrives! Bear Necessities cabin was a perfect fit! It was well cleaned and up to date with appliances. We loved the bear decor and especially the location of the cabin. We also were very grateful to be able to bring our dog! Thank you Randall, for letting us use your cabin for a few nights!

beautiful, but needs a lil TLC
beautiful, but needs a lil TLC
The cabin is very beautiful and the pictures are very accurate. Needs a little up keep though. All darts for the bored are broken and we where unable to use them. pig pong net was broken and torn and had to rig to be able to use it and rubber on paddles are falling off. basketball challenge not hooked up....so its nit not really a challenge game. bed was uncomfortable due to the fact it had a plastic cover but no fiiting sheet to go over it, just a sheet. so many times during the night we woke up stuck to it..ewe. finally i just removed it. trash cans are right out side the master bedroom and as soon as we put trash in it we got animals trying to get in it and banging it around keeping us up. These are all little things when the description said remote its a little misleading. The drive to get there is remote there 3-4 cabins is direct view we could hear the neighbors hacking up mucous and yelling at each other, not exactly the peace and quite we where hoping for on a romantic honey moon=[ Also the grills ignightor doesn't work and the handle is almost coming off. The sights around it are beautiful and we enjoyed cades cove. laurel falls and Abraham falls. and there was a massive car show going on and my husband was in heaven. Went to bubba gumps in gatlin burg and it was amazing some of the best seafood I've ever had. a little pricey but well worth it. the hot tub and jacuzi where wonderful and the kitchen has many cooking options if you prefeer to stay in. In all it was a nice trip and wouldnt mind going again but maybe to a more remote cabin i'm a bit of a country girl and was disappointed not to be able to have more privacy.

Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to review our cabin. We do apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay and we are very sorry that our cabin was not exactly what you expected. We do have local maintenance people who are on call and some of the things could have most likely have been corrected during your stay. You are absolutely correct about the trash cans and noise. Those will be moved immediately. The other deficiencies will be corrected as soon as the next guest leaves. The cabin is located in a cul de sac with four other cabins. I have never personally had an issue with noise from the neighbors nor have I had any of my other guest comment on noise. It is normally very quite and peaceful. But for someone who wants to get away from everyone as many people do, Bear Necessities may not be the best fit. I do have another cabin in Sky Harbor that is completely by itself and maybe you can stay there during your next visit. Its name is Bears Hideaway. We strive for a five star review from all of our guest and when we fall short we take your comments very seriously. Please accept our sincere apologies for the issues you had and we hope that you will give us another opportunity to host you again in the future.
We were very pleased with our stay in TN. The cabin was pretty and well maintained. We had two bears walk past the cabin on one of the days we were there, AWESOME. I have no complaints and on the other side of the coin we were at on of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had. I would stay there again or at any of his available cabins.

Our stay at Bear Necessities cabin was awesome. It is everything the owner had described. The cabin is located high in the mountains but only minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The peacefulness of being away from downtown but the convenience of everything being just 5 minutes away was great. There was great communication between us and the owner anytime we had a question. We would highly recommend renting from this owner and using VRBO for any of your vacation needs. We will definitely be using them again. Thanks again for making everything so easy.

We had a great last minute getaway at the cabin. It is very nicely decorated and comfortable. My husband and I are already talking about coming back but we want to stay longer next time. The only problem we had was that only two of the jets worked in the hot tub. Thanks for letting us take a night away from you :-) We will be back!

GREAT cabin, great location.
GREAT cabin, great location.
Stayed here for a week w/ my 2 kids (ages 10 & 13). We instantly fell in love w/ the cabin. Even more beautiful than the pictures. Nice covered deck on the front porch for those rainy moments we experienced, nice PRIVATE deck on the back porch. Two other cabins nearby ... but never was a problem. Still had plenty of privacy ... and our neighbors loaned us flashlights during rain storm & power outage. We experienced 2 while there so I would HIGHLY recommend you bring along some flashlights ... just in case. The handyman was SOOOO sweet and accommodating. GREAT asset to renting this property and did everything in his power to get us power back as quickly as possible ... all with a wonderfully charming attitude. We enjoyed the playroom upstairs, although the dart board & basketball game are showing some wear & tear. Fully stocked kitchen ... had everything we needed. They supplied enough paper products & trash bags that we ended up not even needing those we had brought. Can't say enough good about this cabin, location (SOOO close to both Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg ... although when you're there, you feel like you're a million miles away from civilization), owner or handyman. GREAT combination. Hope to be back next year!

Great place for 2-4 people. Very well kept. Lots of amenities (tvs in every room, hot tub, game room, grill, nice back deck). Close proximity to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge- roughly 15 minute drive to either. Absolutely no complaints from my trip. I would definitely stay here again.

Owner response: Thank you very much for your kind review of Bear Necessities. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was clean and the perfect size for our needs (2 adults). It was very nice to have the option to bring our dogs with us with no extra fee. We notified the owner of some broken items in the cabin when we arrived, and the owner offered to have everything fixed right away. The location is perfect; secluded, quiet area, but close to everything. We would stay again!

About the owner: A native of East Tennessee I now live in Savannah, Georgia. For all of the beauty that Savannah has to offer it does not compare to the splendor of the Great Smoky Mountains. Bear Necessities is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay. When we stay at Bear Necessities it is very hard to leave. Most of our guest say the same thing.
Why the Owner Chose Sky Harbor:
I fell in love with Bear Necessities as soon as I saw it. I told my real estate agent to do the deal immediately, without hesitation and I have had no regrets. This peaceful setting is one that is very hard to leave once you have spent some time there.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Peacefulness. It is so relaxing. I find it interesting that most of my guest to Bear Necessities rarely ever leave the cabin. It is close enough to the area attractions but once your there it really is hard to leave.
