Bear Necessities was a hit with our 2 boys. My wife an I slept in the large single bedroom and there was plenty of room for my 8 & 10 year old boys to sleep on the sleeper sofa. The boys loved the game room/loft area. The cabin is very clean, especially considering this is a pet friendly cabin. There were absolutely no signs of pet hair, odors or stains. Everything you need to cook with and eat with is furnished. Flat screen TVs are in every room. Very well decorated to go with the Bear Necessities theme. The only minus was the hot tub in which repairs are needed. The hot tub was functional but the light didn't work andt the wood skirting is detoriated and falling apart. I'm sure by the way the cabin has been kept, the hot tub will be fixed in the near future. The location is great. The cabin is only about 5 minutes from the highway and Pigeon Forge, maybe 10 minutes from Gatlinburg but yet in a secluded area up the mountain. I would recommend this cabin to couples and families with 2 pre-teen children. The next time we are traveling to Pigeon Forge, I will try to stay in one of this owner's cabins.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your comments with prospective guest. We are glad that you and your family had an enjoyable visit to Bear Necessities. I appreciate your letting me know about the hot tub. You are correct, I will have maintenance get on the issue as soon as some dates open up to make the repairs which should be very soon. We hope to host you again in the very near future.

The cabin was very nice and enjoyed our stay. We liked how the gameroom was separate and upstairs. The cabin was very cozy. The only issue is the check-out time being at 10 o'clock. Most motels/hotels have a check-out time of 11. I believe people feel rushed to get out by 10.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Dear Guest. We sincerely appreciate your kind comments. For prospective guest I would like to explain the need for a 10AM check out vs an 11 AM check out. There is a considerable amount more to do when cleaning a cabin vs the amount of time it takes to clean a motel room. The laundry has to be washed and placed back on the bed. There is a full kitchen to clean. The hot tub is completely drained, scrubbed, sanitized, refilled and chemically treated. A standard motel room is about 250-300 sq ft vs this cabin having about 1300 sq. ft. So the bottom line is that there is much more involved in cleaning and getting a cabin ready for incoming guest than there is for a standard motel room. That is why we have our check out time set at 10AM. We are sorry if this was an inconvenience for you and we do hate that you felt rushed.

The cabin is located between gatlinburg and pigeon forge. This made coming and going a piece of cake. Also, the cabin was very clean and nicely furnished. Enjoyed my stay. The only negative thing was the indoor bath tub jets did not work. Regardless-I would definitely stay there again. :)Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Great cabin for a couple or a family, perfectly located between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Clean and cozy...looks exactly like the pictures. We enjoyed wine tasting on the Rocky Top Wine Trail, and the apple dumplings at the Apple Barn in Pigeon Forge. Can't say enough good things about our experience at this property!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Over all this was a great place to stay, but you would not like to be up there if it snowed .The roads up to the cabin are narrow and steep. The cabin was clean and well kept. The kitchen area was a little to small , other wise we enjoyed our stay there.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I came here with my fiance for four nights in November. We have never been here before and were excited to see that the cabin was directly in between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge since we were planning on visiting both places. Also, we had close access to the Great Smokey Mountain State Park. As soon as I walked into the cabin, I immediately felt at home. Normally, it takes me awhile to warm up to someplace new, but not here. It was so clean and smelled great. The pictures are accurate to what it looks like. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I booked Bear Necessities for our 5 year wedding anniversary trip. It was a great choice! The cabin was beautifully decorated, cozy and warm. A perfect place to unwind and get away from the stresses at home. We loved the privacy and location. We will definitely return to the cabin on a return trip to the area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a lovely cabin that we enjoyed so much we didn't want to leave. Located conveniently between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, it was easy to find. So nice not to have to 'check in' at some distant location. Plenty of towels and paper products left for us.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

About the owner: A native of East Tennessee I now live in Savannah, Georgia. For all of the beauty that Savannah has to offer it does not compare to the splendor of the Great Smoky Mountains. Bear Necessities is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay. When we stay at Bear Necessities it is very hard to leave. Most of our guest say the same thing.
Why the Owner Chose Sky Harbor:
I fell in love with Bear Necessities as soon as I saw it. I told my real estate agent to do the deal immediately, without hesitation and I have had no regrets. This peaceful setting is one that is very hard to leave once you have spent some time there.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Peacefulness. It is so relaxing. I find it interesting that most of my guest to Bear Necessities rarely ever leave the cabin. It is close enough to the area attractions but once your there it really is hard to leave.
