Why the Owner Chose Grand Lake
The views, the quiet, the Llamas and the tranquility!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Surrounded by nature yet close to city conveniences.
Owner's Map of Grand Lake
We are folks of many occupations. Spike coached at Drake University, baseball, and football, Pat taught kindergarten, first grade, fifth grade, sixth grade and counseled freshman at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
We moved to Grand Lake in 1975. Spike was an assistant principal for four years and then we bought our ranch, Pat sold real estate for 20 years and did property management.
Now we are sort of retired, renting three cabins and raising llamas. For awhile we showed our llamas and had three National Champions.
We have met many nice people and enjoyed the travel. We now stay home much of the time and enjoy the view, peace and quiet of our ranch. Come stay with us and share the tranquility.
We hope to see you soon!

We enjoyed two nights at Nature Valley in August 2011 on a family vacation. Spike and Pat were very accommodating and friendly and gave our kids a chance to meet the lamas. This was a great deal for the price. The cabins are quaint and very well kept. We saw elk on the property and enjoyed walking the drive back to the lamas with the kids. It was also a short drive to the west entrance of RMNP with some fun little towns and lakes nearby.

My wife and four kids and I just visited these cabins and had a wonderful stay. Spike and Pat were most gracious and even let us meet and pet the baby Llama, Surprise. We enjoyed the spacious cabin, which was clean and well appointed, made a campfire in the firepit, cooked out on the grill, played soccer in the field in front of the cabin, and enjoyed amazing views in nearly every direction. It was great, as well, to be able to bring our dog. We were just a short drive from Grand Lake, which we also visited and enjoyed. This is a great, very reasonably priced place to stay, especially with kids and pets.

I can't believe how lucky we got finding this cabin at the last minute! 5 minutes from town and 7 minutes from the national park you couldn't find a better location and the seclusion it offered while still so close to everything. My teenage boys had a blast with the llamas and had plenty of room to "be boys" in the large yard and cabin. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained and Spike and Pat were awesome. They left us alone but, when asked, were extremely helpful giving us local information, adventure ideas, etc. We would return in a minute! Thanks Spike and Pat for so many great memories !
Owner response:Our cabins are in a beautiful mountain and lakes area located on a llama ranch. The cabins are in a meadow so the yard is wonderful with a beautiful view. There is a stream on the property. The cabins each have two half baths with a tub /shower between them. The kitchen is fully furnished. The linens are also furnished. There is a washer and dryer in each cabin. The cabins re winterized for year round recreation. The main area attractions are Rocky Mountain National Park, Arapaho National Forest , Lake Granby, Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain lake Silver Creek Ski area and golf course. Plus the town of Grand Lake for shopping and eating . Come see us.

We spent a long weekend here and really enjoyed it. We stayed in cabin 3. It was very clean and comfortable. It was great to be able to bring the dog with us. The only negative thing I have to say is that the water has a high iron content. This was not really an issue though as they provided plenty of drinking water. We would definitely recommend this place and would come back for another stay. Thanks for everything!

Thank you Spike and Pat! We had an amazing weekend at your cabin. The boys enjoyed meeting the Llamas and "exploring". Our Weims loved running in the open space and at the end of the day, the warm cozy cabin was a perfect place for us all to relax. We look forward to coming back in the near future! Thank you, ~The Huber Family

Wonderful cabin -- really it is the size of a house. Careful attention to detail by wonderfully kind and helpful host and hostess. Views from the large front porch are fabulous -- willows and creek in foreground, llamas behind those, cattle behind those, and mountains all around. Everything is more than ample -- great bedding, kitchen supplies, etc. On road to national forest. Extremely reasonably priced. A wonderful stay, and I hope to come back soon. Thanks!
