Spent time here this summer with husband 4 children (2, 10, 12, and 13) and a few members of extended family. +++The place was great. Very clean, extremely equipped, and kid friendly. The furnishings and amenities were nice enough to warrant the price but not so fancy that the children could not enjoy themselves. Extra TV with cable was great; adults did not have to suffer through Disney and Nickelodeon. Wireless internet was a great convenience. Washer/dryer was a life saver with the children. Back deck was great for afternoon snack. As regulars to the Vineyard we were nervous about staying somewhere new but I would recommend this address to others. Although we normally rent in OB we enjoyed this location. - - -The basement was large but very empty and in need of furnishings, but did provide great running space for our 2 year old. Front door is not easily accessed by handicapped/elderly. They would have to enter through walkout basement. Access road is not paved. Recommendations: Bring your own highchair/booster seat Bring your own bathroom floor mat/rug; this is not provided for obvious sanitary reasons. Basement access stairway is off the kitchen and can be dangerous so you must keep the basement door closed at all times with small children around.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

This is a great house for a big family. It's in a woodsy setting, but it's only a 5-10 minute walk to downtown Vineyard Haven. Here are the pros: very comfy beds, living room with plenty of comfortable seating, a nice layout with four large bedrooms, outdoor shower, great windows and skylights that provide breezes, deck with table and chairs, super quiet area of the Vineyard, some beach chairs and toys provided, affordable, and importantly, a friendly, professional owner to deal with! The cons: you have to bring/rent your own linens (which is common on the Vineyard), no lobster pot, kitchen drawers seemed a bit messy/not arranged to easily find things, and the basement is musty and pretty unusable. We stayed there with my extended family, including kids, and I would definitely stay there again. The pros more than outweighed the cons, and the location and price can't be beat. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a clean, large, easy house to stay in within walking distance to town, this is a great option. Thanks, Peter and Gail. We really are glad that we stayed at your house this past June!
