Located just 50 feet to the beach, this cute cottage offers gulf views. White Caps is located off of West Gulf Drive and is a small property with only 9 cottages on-site. Perfect for a quiet getaway. This unit is a one bedroom, one bathroom ground level unit with tile throughout and has been updated with granite countertops and furnishings.
Bedding consists of queen bed, queen sleeper sofa and twin sleeper sofa, so you are able to accommodate up to 5 people. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, two bikes, two TV's, two VCR's, DVD Player, CD Player, BBQ Grill, outside shower, beach towels and H2O purification system.
Will also accept small dogs with a non-refundable pet fee. This is a seven night minimum property due to association rules.

- Beachfront : FROM A GUSET! "Thank you so much for your lovely cottage! This was our best vacation rental so far (out of dozens we visited on 3 continents). The beach alone worth it! We will definitely be back :-)) The doorstep is only about 50 yards from the water line, and there is no board walk, or street, or parking lot, or steps to go across. Just 50 yards to the water - not to the beach! To the beach it is probably only 30 yards. Many others write "close to the beach" in their ads - but it takes a lot of investigation (from the potential guest) to figure out what the beach access really looks like. For our family, beach proximity is the most important factor. For example, some big beach condo resort may also publish "gulf-front" - but it can be so different! One has to take stairs, walk on asfalt parking lot, cross boardwalk - so it can be 200+ yards, or 10+ min of walking up and down. Compare it to 1 min walking on flat at your cottage! This is the "Kreter Klan" that has been enjoying Sanibel for over 25 years. We spent all our school breaks on Sanibel, swimming, shelling, & biking the miles of paths that traverse the island. We could step out the door and be on one of the world's best shelling beaches & boy could our mom find projects for all those shells we collected! We are all adults now and look forward to visiting our folks who now live on Sanibel. We love bringing our own children to our favorite piece of paradise & reliving with them all the things we did when we were younger and spent time on Sanibel!

We had the best weather possible for our vacation, but we were disappointed that the tiny condo afforded no view of the beach which was so close. (see listing) WhiteCaps 2 is one of 8 tiny bungalows that are arranged perpendicular to the beach, old Florida amongst the condos. The location is ideal, step out of the cottage, walk a short way and you are on the sand looking for those wonderful Sanibel shells. The beach is gorgeous and pristine. WhiteCaps 2 has the advantage of being a few steps from the laundry facilities (the listing says W/D in unit, however they have been removed). It is perfect for two, albeit one of the smaller units on the property. The owners (or former owners) chose to expand the living area by removing the lanai. Therefore, there is no view of the beach or gulf from the cottage unless you are standing outside in the driveway or sitting on the tiny pavered entryway. In fact there are no windows at all on the beach side of the unit. I would not discourage anyone from renting WhiteCaps2, but be aware that the listing is a bit misleading.
Owner response:I had edited the listing and took out the washer/dryer. Sorry I guess I need to review it once more. It was an inefficient European machine which never worked properly & should not be sold in the US. White caps #2 is not the smallest unit. It is 525 sq foot compared to some that are 375 sq ft. You can see the Gulf of Mexico from the porch chairs. I supply to bikes complimentary & the unit is totally updated with new appliances & granite counter tops. I have not raised my rent in 5 years & think that those who come as my guests are getting a very good experience for the money they are spending. If you had wanted to stay at the Ritz Carlton, you should have gone to Naples!

We loved the location of the cottage. It is only steps to the beach which makes it very convenient to come back in from the beach for a snack or to get out of the sun. The kitchen is very well equipped. We loved blending frozen margaritas to take to the beach in the super cute plastic margarita glasses. There is access to 2 bicycles which is great since you are within biking distance of everything. The listing above is not accurate however. There is no dryer/washer combo. You need to go to a utility building which is next door and use a coin laundry. I was really disappointed that I didn't know that ahead of time so I could have planned differently. Also, beach towels are mentioned above but there are no beach towels at all other than the regular bath towels provided. Considering there was no laundry, we really didn't want to bring the bath towels out to the beach. I wish that would have been more clear in the description since I would have easily brought my own beach towels. The cottage is cleaned and properly maintained. The furniture is not what I'd describe as comfortable and probably in need of some updating. However, for our family the location is most important and this cottage did not disappoint in that regard.
Owner response:I apologize for the lack of washer & dryer. I thought I had removed that from the listed amenities when I had to remove it from the cottage. It was a European model which never worked properly & since there is on sight laundry facilities, it was more trouble to continually have it repaired. As far as beach towels, you can request them from the agency. I used to provide my own linens including beach towels, but the cleaning service insists that they be done at their facility which has high temperature settings to make sure there are no residual effects from the last guest. For those who would like beach towels you may request them from the Royal Shell or simply bring your own...Better yet, buy one or two on the island & keep them for souvenirs!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.
