Year Purchased: 2005
I grew up in a Georgia city, but loved visting my grandparents in their rural home. 10+ years ago I married a West Virinia native, yes a "hillbilly" who's roots were firmly planted in the mountains of Pocahontas County. We decided to create lodging to share this beautiful playground with other folks. There's always something to do, but it is also a great place to relax and get away from the burdens of the world.

We built our vacation rentals to share our property with other people.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
Because of it's location, you have easy access to the lodge, constant privacy in open space, clear view of the valley and the mountain. Wildlife wander past so viewing from inside the cottage is a plus. Walking trails are abundant. Access to Monongahela is a step away from the property. The property is located within easy travel to all of the points of interest in Pocahontas County.

Beautiful Cottage in Prime Location

I stumbled upon this property because I booked our New Years getaway so late that everything slopeside was already full. But I am SO GLAD that we found this rental property instead. I don't think I will ever stay slopeside again after experiencing this magnificent home. The description doesn't lie- the views are absolutely spectacular at both dawn and dusk. The cottage is a mere 15 minute drive from Snowshoe resort, well worth it for the privacy offered. The cottage is spacious, has ample bedding for 8, and large windows. The ONLY thing we noted was that lighting in the kitchen was poor after the sun went down. But that is easily fixed with an overhead light or even a large lamp. Overall a wonderful experience. Can't wait to come back.

The stars at night are pretty amazing without the glare of city lights. It's pretty neat to have both mountain and valley views too. The air is so clean here. Virtually unspoiled.
