- Minimum stay:2-4 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
One of the most recognized properties on the Sonoma Coast, this home was built 1868 by Hugh Marshall and was used as the "coastal station" stop on the original stage coach road. The Marshall House has been carefully renovated. The home is on a .82+ acre lot with stone walls and paths, 100 year old Cypress trees, and a detached 2 car garage with work shop. Directly off the kitchen is an unique atrium with views of Salmon Creek, a walk away for canoeing or kayaking, and the Pacific Ocean. The atrium is ideal for a group dinner, dancing, or relaxation with views with family and friends. The kitchen, fully renovated, is equipped with a gourmet propane stove and oven and a Bosch dishwasher and stainless refrigerator. The dining table seats 8-10. There is a large living room, library (with 2 twin beds), kitchen/dining area, the atrium, 1.5 bathrooms (large tile shower) on the first floor. On the 2nd floor is a full bathroom with a claw foot tub and 3 bedrooms. Walk out the door to the Pacific Ocean, where you will find one of the best surf spots in California. There is mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking and more right out the door.

Seven of us shared this house for a week over Christmas. From the website we had high expectations and it met or exceeded nearly all of them. The accommodations were cosy, warm and comfortable, the house is beautiful, full of character, the kitchen was great for group cooking, socializing and eating, the area was beautiful and beach acees was wonderful. We cooked a LOT and found most of what we needed and worked around what was missing (okay we will bring our own knives and a few other things next time). The owners were very helpful and answered all our questions. They provided clear instructions and expectations which we appreciated. It felt very homey. This is a great place for a group as there is lots of space. We could not use the atrium because it was winter but I'm sure it is wonderful in more clement weather.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful family reunion in the Marshall House in Bodega Bay. It was five days of heaven with our children and granddaughter. The house is so lovely and full of light. The weather was pretty cool but it didn't matter because we sat around the large kitchen table talking and eating most of the week. This home is such a nice place to stay with a large family. It's spacious and homey. The owner of the home was so helpful, even when we had accidentally broke a piece of the hot tub. He graciously worked with the insurance company to cover the broken part. We will always remember our week in Bodega Bay at the Marshall House. Thank you~Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My family and I had a relaxing time at this beautiful home. Everyone was well accommodated and extra comfortable. The atrium really provided a great mix in regards to differing environments, and we especially liked the symbolism in its old tiles and stained glass. Everything was sound as far as logistics goes. The beach is also a close walk. And I often wondered if our meals were a tad bit better than usual as a result of the great views for the kitchen lovers. There are many gems in this well crafted, well preserved piece of California History.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our extended family spent a few days over New Year's and the weather was rainy, chilly and unpredictable but we didn't even notice as we played games in the warm, cozy kitchen and watched the huge swells on the water, listening to the sound of rain falling on the roof and smelling the fresh sea air. A very private getaway with the beautiful atrium, perfect for letting little children play when the weather is not so great.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

We have a cabin in Salmon Creek and over the years have admired the Marshall House. When we planned a family reunion we decided to rent the Marshall House. It exceeded my expectations. The open kitchen and living room are wonderful gathering places. Our family could all be together; cooking, eating and talking. I love historic buildings and was very impressed with the redwood floors, windows, and rooms upstairs. I felt like I was in a colonial in New England. The views to Salmon Creek Beach from the kitchen and living room are wonderful. The property is very well kept, I noticed all of the antique mirrors throughout the rooms. We were there right after Christmas so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the large yard and atrium. I would highly recommend this house for families or a group of friends. It has loads of character. It was very convenient to have a bedroom on the first floor for those that find a staircase a challenge. Kurt was very easy to work with and helpful.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

This very clean and comfortable home has a beautiful ocean view from the atrium and kitchen and is a short hike through the dunes to the beach and creek. The beds are comfortable and bedding is wonderful - down comfortors and quilts. The large kitchen and atrium were great gathering places for our group of six. Kurt was especially helpful and e-mailed information about his favorite wineries, tips for grocery shopping, and area activities, as well as cell and home numbers in case we had any problems (we didn't). Bodega Bay is lovely and we saw whales from bodega head; also visited some excellent winereis along the Russian River. We would stay here again and recommend highly to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. Our deposit was returned promptly and the owners are very nice and helpful.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I rented the Marshall House for a group of 8 women. We are avid crafters and scrapbookers and found the house clean and very well appointed. The kitchen and living room areas were perfect for us to spread out with tables and our projects. We would definitely consider coming back in the summer months to enjoy the Atrium more. Well worth the time and money to stay here.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We filled all the beds with our extended family and it was wonderful, such a short walk to Salmon Creek Beach. The atrium was incredible, and I found it hard to leave this property at all! It felt like being back in the 19th century. The hot tub under the stars was magical. Highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a wonderful and beautiful home in a peaceful and quiet setting on the hills above Salmon Creek and Salmon Creek Beach. Our family fell into a great rhythm of beach visits, home- cooked meals and family time in the atrium and by the living room fireplace. It's very thoughtfully outfitted and extremely comfortable. The views are amazing and the atrium with its tropical flowers and fountain is a real treat. Highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
