This cottage is located on a very private property that is close to the Historic Sonoma Square and over 10 wineries. It is a seperate unit that is located on the vineyard so you can sit on your patio and watch the grapes grow right before your eyes.
This quiet cottage is located on a beautifully landscaped private property within minutes of the Historic Sonoma Square. It has everything you will need to make your Sonoma stay one to remember. There is a kitchenette, living area with t.v., bathroom, and bedroom area with a lovely back patio set within a vineyard just outside the doors from the bedroom area in the cottage. The cottage is convieniently located very close to ten worldclass wineries, boutique shopping at the Historic Sonoma Square as well as resturants, picncing, delis, museums, bike rentals, hiking and biking trails and a wonderful historic movie theater. You may choose to eat out at the many choices you will have for resturants or eat in at the cottage and use the barbeque on the patio overlooking the vineyard.
Included with your stay are coupons for the Wine Walk tasting room around the historic square that gives you your experience for free or 2 for 1 nominal charge. Guests report that they have a lot of fun doing this. We know we sure enjoyed it as well!
Your options for picnics are endless as the square and many of the wineries here are set up for you to enjoy this activity.
There is an available option for a 'Wine 101' tasting on property as wine is produced on site and if you are staying during harvest and crush then you are welcome to join in the fun. The 'Wine 101' will get you started in your wine understanding before you get ready to visit the wineries and there is a minimal charge of $25.00 each for the fun one hour informational/tasting/food pairing that you will experience. If you are interested in this option then you must book this at the same time you book the cottage. It is fine to book the cottage without this option.
Don't miss the history of the area with the Bear Flag statue on the square depicting the revolt taking California away from Mexico. Also the 21st Mission de San Francisco that is on the corner of the east side of the square with the gorgeous chapel and interesting grounds and the military barracks across the street on Spain St.
Jack London State partk is just 15 to 20 minutes away on a beautiful drive to Glen Ellen. Great hikes under fabulous trees and the history of one of Americas most famous authors with his writing of 'Call of the Wild'.
You have many famous wine growing regions at your finger tips here. Sonoma Valley, Napa Valley, The Carneros Valley, Dry Creek, Alexander Valley with endless wineries in each.
Sonoma is within 45 minutes drive of three international airports and within 20 minutes of Marin and Napa Counties. Napa Valley is just 15 minutes away for more famous named wineries and tastings. Mendocino County to the north is a wonderful one day coastal trip. The Sonoma Valley is one of the most beautiful in wine country and the world. It's no wonder the area is referred to as the Valley of the Moon.
Relax and enjoy your stay as you experience this little slice of heaven in the wine country.

We stayed at Joie and Bart's cottage for 3 nights in April 2013. We were made to feel welcome. Joie and Bart are very gracious hosts. Everything was exactly as described and the photos on the website reflect what you get. The towels and linens were plush and luxurious. The cottage was immaculate. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchette was well stocked and clean as was the outdoor grill. It was a very short drive to Sonoma town center which has plenty of parking and things to do. There are also many wineries that are a short drive as well. Absolutely, positively sign up for Bart's Wine 101 when you book your stay here. It was interesting, informative, entertaining, and enjoyable. We would not hesitate to re-book here.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This cottage was the perfect location for my wife and I to stay during our visit to Sonoma. It is close to so many wineries and yet at the end of the day seemed so private and secluded. We especially enjoyed having our morning coffee while sitting right next to our own private vineyard. We can't recommend this cottage enough and would not hesitate to book it again for ourselves.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I just returned from our stayed at Joie and Bart's beautiful Sonoma cottage for our 1 year anniversary. We were extreamly pleased with the accomodations. I was a little nervous about renting since it was such an important vacation for us but our expectations were definitely surpassed. The location is perfect and the scenery is beautiful. The King room itself is very nice, modern and well kept. We also took part in their wine 101 class which was really great! It was very informative and helpful as well as fun. Definitely worth doing. I would highly reccomend this property to anyone! PS- we loved their adorable dog Cheyenne!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

While Josie and Bart were away their son was the perfect gracious host. The cottage is very close to town and yet we felt tucked away in the peace and quiet of the countryside. The cottage is lovely and offers all the conveniences one would need or want. The cottage was very clean, the grounds very well cared for. We will surely return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I wanted a few days relaxing in peace and quiet and that's exactly what we got. The cottage is lovely, and equipped with everything we needed, and we loved having the facility to BBQ on the patio as the sun went down, surrounded by the vineyard. It was idyllic. Lovely soft towels, a good shower, comfy sofas -generally everything was in really great condition and it felt as if we were its first visitors! Joie, Bart and Cheyenne were lovely, and I only wished I’d known about their making their own wine at the time, we’d have loved to have tried some. I would say my only slight bug bear was the location in that it was a bit of a walk to the square – at a leisurely pace about 35 minutes, and some of the road has no pavement (sidewalk), and is dusty/badly paved - so not really geared towards pedestrians. I could tell people were looking at us from their cars thinking we were crazy!! Yes, the wifi signal was poor, but we were on holiday!! Overall a wonderful place to stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back if were ever visit the area again (I only wish we lived closer!)Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

It was our first stay in Sonoma and we loved it! What a beautiful, peaceful setting! Pictures don't do it justice and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was first class and after a day of visiting many wineries, it was great to just kick back and relax with a glass of wine on the lovely patio overlooking the grapevines. We highly recommend and we hope to come back soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husbanda and I just visited Sonoma a few weeks ago. What a great experience! This cottage was the perfect place to rest and relax after a day of great wine tastings. It is about a 1.5 mile walk to the square, which we did multiple times in the mornings. The property was gorgeous, the bed was amazingly comfortable, and the porch was just right for a glass of wine in the evenings. Joie and Bart were such gracious hosts. We would gladly come back and stay in this cottage again...and hopefully soon!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We rented both the queen and the king cottages for a family weekend to attend my son's graduation from Sonoma State University. The Cottages truly could not have been more perfect - location, amenities, and price. The cottages are beautiful with every attention to detail and comfort. Sitting out on the patio in the morning watching the day begin in the vineyard - doesn't get much better than that - except for the down feather bed and high count cotton sheets to end the day. Wine 101 was great fun - would highly recommend this activity. Joie and Bart welcome you like neighbors - you have found your home away from home!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

About the owner: We have been residents of Sonoma for 12 years and Joie is a native Californian. Bart is from Balitimore, Md. but is truely transplanted to the west coast and Sonoma now. We love living in Sonoma and making the cottage available to others to visit this special area. We look forward to your visit!
Why the Owner Chose Sonoma:
SONOMA is well known for it's friendly and welcoming atmosphere and that attracted us to live in this community. There is a Tuesday night Farmers Market in the Spring and summer that is fune for all and we came to live here and enjoy friends, food, and of course wine and this is why we have the cottage for others to share this amazing area with them. Come and find out how fun it is to enjoy this area!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
You will experience the wonderful FEELING OF WINE COUNTRY that is very hard to describe until you come and experience it for yourself. Relaxing in the cottage or on the back patio in the vineyard while you sip a glass of wine and enjoy the discoveries or your day and what you have learned at all the fun wineries is priceless.
