My husband and I spent two glorious weeks in Serge's apartment in April 2012 when we came to town for the Paris Marathon. I won't repeat all the wonderful things the other reviewers have said--I agree with all of them that the apartment is even better than you imagine it will be based on the photographs. It is beautifully decorated, very clean, has great views and great light, is quiet in the dining and bedroom areas, and has a terrific bathroom. The internet connection was fast and consistent (a big issue for us), and the free phone calls were great. Serge is an absolute joy--honest, prompt, professional and helpful before and during our stay. He really put us at ease, which is a big deal when you're travelling thousands of miles to rent an apartment from someone you don't know and you worry that you will be met as promised and that things will be as advertised and nice. The apartment and the location are superb and I would plan a trip to Paris around being able to rent Serge's apartment--it's that good. The neighborhood has everything you need (nice restaurants, good take out places, a variety of delis and wine shops, a nearby grocery store, fantastic public transportation access, etc.) and is safe. While it is five or six blocks from Les Halles, it's on the middle-class neighborhood safe side, not on the somewhat-dodgy-at-night other side, so you can take advantage of the good Metro transportation hub at Les Halles without worrying. There's nice shopping right around the corner on the Rue de Rivoli (we especially liked Zara, which Serge recommended, and Esprit) and it is an easy walk to the Rue Montorgueil area on the other side of Saint Eustache church with charming shops, restaurants, etc. You are also near the Carrousel du Louvre (access via the red awning at 99 Rue de Rivoli) where you can get a Louvre ticket or a multi-day Museum Pass to all the museums and monuments at the tobacco shop, then use the special line for ticket / pass holders at the Pyramid Entrance, which will save you an hour at least. There are also nice shops and a food court upstairs with a good variety of ethnic foods (Italian, French, Asian, Mediterranean) which comes in handy if you need a quick, but tasty, lunch after the restaurants close at 2:30 PM. Like I said before, the location and nearby amenities cannot be beat. Renting Serge's apartment made our Paris vacation a dream come true and we want to thank him again and hope to return someday soon. Merci, Serge!

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and it was perfect. The location couldn't have been better. We asked Serge to make a reservation for us at a restaurant and he did it for us. He also arranged transportation to and from the airport. We found a little supermarket a few blocks away so we were able to make a couple of dinners. I went downstairs every morning to pick up croissants at a patisserie around the corner. The apartment was very comfortable with high quality furnishings in the living room, bathroom and bedroom. It was extremely quiet so we had no problems sleeping. We had a small problem in the kitchen that Serge took care of right away. We highly recommend this for your stay in Paris.

It was the perfect spot for a vacation for my husband and I. The location could not have been better. You can walk to any major site in Paris or rely on the Metro which is 1 short block away. Serge was very responsive, reliable and very personable. The apartment is exactly as advertised....well kept, nicely furnished and decorated. It is also very cool that this building is in Woody Allen's movie Midnight in Paris!! We will stay here again when we return to Paris. Serge - thank you again for such a great stay!

We (granddaughter, grandfather, grandmother) just returned from living as Parisians in Serge’s lovely apartment. We shopped at the nearby grocery store and boulangerie, enjoying most of our meals “at home”. Very relaxing after a full day of walking and touring. All the major tourist sites were within walking distance or easy metro access. The apartment was spacious and clean, with pleasant décor. Most important to us, the sleeping area was quiet. We appreciated having wifi and the use of Serge’s phone for calls back to the U.S. Serge’s quick responses to our emails were both professional and personable. It was delightful to work with him. We highly recommend Serge’s apartment and look forward to the possibility of “living as Parisians” there in the future. Jerry, Pat and Madeleine

This apartment made the stay in Paris special. I felt like a Parisian, shopping at the local grocery, eating at the outdoor cafes and riding the metro. Prior to and when we arrived Serge was wonderful, he helped to carry the bags and told us about all the local highlights. When we return we will stay there again due to the GREAT location.

Thank you Serge for a wonderful stay in your gorgeous apartment. We were so impressed by Serge's hospitality in making us feel welcome. There were lists of recommended restaurants which were superbe. The ones we found ourselves were not as good. Fantastic location for getting around Paris. I really miss our daily trip to the boulangerie to get our croissants and pastries. Really miss the little pigeon on the window sill who had made her nest there and laid 3 eggs. Very impressed with Serge's artistic flair and design in the apartement . Very chic and so Parisienne. He even trusted usd with his CD collection. Merci beaucoup.. Can't wait to return.

My husband and I spent a fantastic 2 weeks at Serges's wonderful Paris apartment in May. It has both old world charm and modern conveniences. The location could not have been better. Each day we went to the little bakery and grocery on the same block as the apartment. I think that we went to Fumoir's restaurant 5 times for dinner--just a block away. The 88 steps up to the apartment were probably a gift to us, as we just couldn't stop dining at the wonderful restaurants in Paris. Our duaghter joined us for a long weekend, and Serge provided a rollaway bed, which she said was very comfortable and fairly private in the dining room. Serge could not have been a kinder and more helpful host. The only slight negative in the apartment was the air conditioning set-up. We absolutely loved our stay and felt so at home. We definitely hope to return.

A wonderful apartment so close to the heart of historic paris. A true home away from home. Very handy having WIFI in the apartment plus internet access. Very quiet bedroom - no noise heard from the street. The double glazed windows work a treat. Very easy to just walk down to the metro station - 5 minutes walk - to get out and about. Thank you Serge also for arranging seamless transfer from and to the airport with your drivers. Everything was made very easy. Appreciate your recommendations re restaurants too...loved 'Le Petit Machon'....very friendly wait staff and lovely typical French food. We will be back !!! Thankyou again Serge...I will be recommending your place to my friends.... MG and FG / Sydney Australia. May 2011

If you are looking at the pictures...that is EXACTLY how you will find this apartment. It was immaculate, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I went to visit my daughter, who is studying in Paris, and we stayed together in this apartment for a week in April. The location was excellent...very safe, fantastic restaurants all around us, the metro was a few steps away, and we were able to walk to so many wonderful places, the Louvre, being one of them. Serge, the owner, is such a sweetheart, we want to make him a member of our family! He was very accommodating, answered all of our questions, had great restaurant and tourist recommendations and was available whenever we wanted him. I would highly recommend this apartment. It so made our week in Paris more enjoyable to have such a wonderful place to stay. Thank you, Serge, for making our memory in Paris even more enjoyable!! Hope to see you again!!

We spent two weeks in Serge's beautiful Louvre apartment and it was absolutely wonderful. I truly do not think that you will find a better apartment than this in terms of decor, comfort, location and proprietor. Serge was wonderfully helpful and his recommendations for restaurants were great. He went above and beyond the call of duty. When my suitcase finally arrived, Serge met with the airline delivery people and carried the suitcase to the room while we were out touring for the day. When we departed before dawn on New Year's Day, Serge made sure, in advance, that we had a cab for the airport which is no easy feat on that day. The photographs really do not do this apartment justice. It is spacious, bright and beautifully decorated. The apartment was spotlessly clean and cleaning was provided midway through our stay. The kitchen is very functional and has all you need to prepare a meal. From small features like birds eating from the suet feeders in the window to huge factors such as extremely close proximity to the metro and walking distance to many sites, this apartment was really ideal. We felt right at home. I not only would but have already recommended this apartment to friends. You will have an exellent experience. You really can end your search for an apartment with Serge's wonderful home.

Your search for a Paris apartment is over; this is the perfect one. The apartment is even better than described. The chic interior decoration is out of Elle Decor and beautifully designed to give such a spacious feel (this has to be larger than 750 square feet). While the decor has a comtemporary twist, the apartment is true to the period with high ceilings, wood floor, and those fabulous windows that can be opened to the sounds of the city. A great bonus is while you can drink in the sounds of Paris in the living room, the bedroom is perfectly quiet. This apartment is appointed for comfort. There is a computer, wifi, a sterio system with a dock for your ipod (very important for us), large plasma TV and top of the line appliances. The comtemporary bath is large with a great shower and plenty of vanity space. I was thrilled with the well equiped kitchen--this was stocked by a true cook. After a day of exploring, many times we love to come "home" and stay in for dinner--one of the reasons to rent an apartment. Serge gave us directions for the grocery, a marvelous take-away up-scale deli, wine store and favorite restaurants, all within a few blocks walk. If this is your first visit to the city or tenth, this is the perfect location with all the sights of Paris within walking distance, metro stops near by and the charm of a true neighborhood. Enough about the apartment. The Louvre is not the best thing in Paris--it's Serge! Prior to our visit his emails were imformative and fast. Upon arriving you will be meeting the nicest, most helpful, gracious host/owner ever. I must add that he has a charming sense of humor, too. He spent time orienting us to the neighborhood and area, answering any questions and making sure we were comfortable in the apartment. Do follow his recommendations for restaurants and shops--they are all wonderful. His office is minutes away and he is always accessable by phone and available. He is right there to answer any question from forgetting which button to push on the TV to the proper oven temperature. From the initial meeting he makes you feel that you have a friend. We are already planning a return visit to "our" apartment and dinner with Serge. This apartment will have you saying "Oh, la, la" and singing La Marseillaise!

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights on our honeymoon and it was great! The apartment has everything you need, great living room, comfy bed, washing machine and a nice big tub. The location is fantastic as we walked everywhere. The Louvre is right around the corner, shops, cafes, grocery store and pubs too. Serge met us at the door and help carry up our luggage and was in contact via email with any questions we had. I would highly recommend the apartment to anyone wanting a home away from home while in Paris. Thanks Serge!

We just returned from a one week stay in Serge's apartment. It was perfect in every way. All photographs of the apartment are accurate. It is very attractive, clean, and large for two people. While you might not spend a lot of time inside, it was very pleasant to come home each day to such a nice place. Serge has done an excellent job in decorating this space. It is up to date yet has a traditional French appearance. The location is perfect and we never used the metro since we love to walk and it was easy to reach the spots we wanted to visit. Serge is very helpful and will orient you to the neighborhood with recommendations for restaurants and stores. We had excellent meals at Le Fumoir and Le Petit Machon. He arranged a taxi to CDG for us, and the driver was excellent. We did not have a phone, but you can use Serge's computer, and he responds immediately to emails. He also has wifi in the apartment. We highly recommend this property and would definitely stay there again. Thanks, Serge!

I just want to take a moment to thank Serge for his help and his willingness both to accommodate and ease any worries or concerns travelers may have prior to their trip. The apt. was fantastic, had everything we needed, and truly felt like a place of rest each day after much travel and sightseeing. The only downside was the hike up the five flights of stairs after a long day of walking. But anyone who has been to Paris before already knows that one will do plenty of walking and climb plenty of stairs, haha. In addition to the quality of the apt. the neighborhood was great with plenty of shops, restaurants, mini markets, and pastry shops. Not to mention Les Halles and the Louvre-Rivoli metro stations are very close by for easy access to all of Pari via the metro or RER lines. I highly recommend the apt., and commend Serge for his upkeep and willingness to help. When my wife and I return to Paris someday we only hope Serge will still be renting his place as we will most certainly be returning.
Owner response:Thank you Steve and fortunatly, you found an incredible weather in Paris that also helped you to have a great week. The apartment it's at the 4th floor. You'll be also welcomed next time :) Kind Regards, Serge !

This apartment worked out perfectly for our Paris trip. The location couln't be better. The Louvre is right next door, and you can easily walk to the River Seine, Notre Dame, Dusee d'Orsay and Jardin des Tuileries. Designer boutique shopping is within walking distance as are many restaurants, bakeries and little grocery stores. The Metro and RER stations are very close. The apartment itself is very comfortable, charming, light and airy. The bedroom is quiet and the bathroom is very modern. You really feel like you are in Paris! Serge is the nicest man and very helpful. This is definitely where we would stay on a return visit. Thanks, Serge!

We recently returned from a week long stay in Paris. This most charming apartment is perfect in every way possible. It is charming, roomy, clean, beautifully renovated and owned by the most thoughtful, vivacious Frenchman that ever lived! Serge was a perfect concierge carrying up our heavy bags like they were blankets, then spending time orienting us to the city and apartment. He truly cares that your visit to this most splendid city be as perfect as possible. The location is just as described, literally 1 block from the metro which we confidently used all hours of the day and night. It was clean, easy and a terrific way to navigate the city. The apartment is just like home with a fully equipped kitchen, comfy bed, quiet bedroom and modern, clean bathroom. In closing, you can now not stop the endless searching for "just the right" Paris apartment as this is truly a wonderful option to pricey hotels and a hundred times from comfortable. Thank you again Serge for such a terrific home away from home.

I could say 1,000 wonderful things about the APARTMENT about the OWNER Serge and about the LOCATION. The home is just that a home after one day you feel like you LIVE in Paris. No kidding I caught myself saying just that more than once. There are plants in and out of the apartment and a little bird sanctuary built outside the bedroom and dining room window. The bed was so comfy. The renovations are as good as they look in the pictures. Serge has an office by the apartment so there were a few times we passed him in the street and it was like seeing an old friend so you yell out to say hi. Just added an extra special magic. You are LESS than a 1/2 city block from the Louvre, the river and the metro. You have everything within a block stores, grocery every food and cafe. Serge has a few referrals for pastries and food you MUST try his recommendations. I add the pizza shop and the chocolatier that are right by the apartment to the recommend list. I recommend taking the Olly Bus or a taxi if you have luggage as I did not like to have to have my sweetie pulling luggage around on the metro. Other than that the metro is a wonderful way to travel. Look I could go on and on about the apartment the location and Serge everything was just perfect and the only thing you can not do is rent the apartment the next time we want to rent it :-). Serge thank you for the help thank you for the memories we LOVE you and hope to see you in the USA some time. MERCI

Another fantastic December in Paris. We have used VRBO in a number of countries and Serge's apt is the best we have stayed at. We walked to every major site in Paris from the front door of the apt, and when it rained, we dropped underground to the metro a few feet from Serge's front door. We were in the apt for Christmas writing a book and spent a lot of time there. The apt is spacious, well designed and appointed and very quiet in the bedroom at the back. This is a real apt, with all the amenities for real living including a fully functional kitchen and dining area. There is a sunken tub and shower in the bathroom(very rare in this price range)and a great living room for relaxing, reading, writing. Lots big windows and lots of light. Finally, Serge is a pleasure to work with. He really goes out of his way to make everything run smoothly. We will definitely be back next year.

I endorse all the previous comments about Serge and his apartment. This was my wife's first experience with VRBO and she kept asking me "Now how did you find this?" She was really pleased with the size of the apartment, the quiet bedroom, the computer, the nice bathroom and the local grocery store and restaurants. Serge was most helpful in helping us carry our luggage upstairs and arranging a cab to Versailles. The stairs might be a little hard for an older couple, but we climbed up just as many in the museums. We'd look forward to staying in this unit again! Richard in San Antonio

This was a lovely, warm, quiet, beautifully decorated apartment, about one block from the Louvre. It was the find of a lifetime. The owner is very kind and helpful, and he gave us a lot of help with a variety of concerns: sightseeing, restaurants, etc. We are saving our money to return. The apartment is a four floor walk-up, but the steps are easy to maneuver and not prohibitive. I wouldn't waste a second looking at other apartments. It was so lovely that we were glad to eat breakfast at the cozy dining room table with a lovely view and come home at night for dessert and wine. We saved a lot of money on food because the apartment was so inviting, with many stores around the corner where you could buy just about anything you wanted, from croissants to aspirin. Cindy

The apartment is a very chic mix of old Paris and modern conveniences. Immediately upon entering you are greeted with the old world charm of high ceilings, crown molding, original wood plank flooring, a fabulous marble (working) fireplace and those marvelous windows that stretch nearly to the ceiling and swing wide open to let in the sunny weather and the sweet sounds of Paris! All the modern conveniences are included in the updated kitchen (d/w, clothes washer too). The bath is very nicely updated, with separate soaking tub and open shower. The color scheme throughout the apt. is both soothing and aggressive and the lighting is great; dimmers everywhere so you can set any mood. It is very obvious that you are staying in someone's home, not just a business apt. We felt at home the moment we set down our bags! Since we were traveling with our 9 yr old son, Serge provided a roll-away single bed which was very comfortable and easy to stash in the dining room corner until needed. The bedroom is on the backside of the apt. so very quiet. Both bedroom windows can be opened to enjoy the window gardens and early morning sun without giving up any privacy. There are beautiful window gardens outside of 5 of the 6 windows and we even had the fun of watching (& naming) a baby bird being nurtured by it's mother for the entire week, nestled in the foliage of one of the garden boxes overlooking Rue de Louvre. "Cocoa" took his maiden flight the day before we caught our flight home. We can not say enough about how wonderful the apt. is, how fabulous the location is and how responsive, charming and accomodating our host was. Serge, we have found our home away from home and can't wait to stay at Duluc again. Special thanks to Mathieu for all he did too!

From our first email exchange with the apt. owner, Serge, we had a feeling that this was going to be a very special week in Paris. Serge was very fast to reply to all of our questions prior to our arrival and even though he was out of town when we arrived, we were warmly greeted by his friend Mathieu who not only helped lug our suitcases up the stairs but then showed us all around the apt. making sure we knew about every detail, right down to how to operate the remotes for the entertainment system/flat screen TV. (Serge had even left us a little diagram of the remote buttons!) Because we had asked about the immediate neighborhood restaurants in our emails, Serge had left us a list of some of his favorite ones as well as a few more he thought we should try, complete with a business card from each. We felt very papmpered right from the start! This was the 4th VRBO apt. we stayed at during our trip, the 2nd in Paris, and we definitely saved the best for last! What a way to spend your last week in Europe, steps away from the Louvre, Rue Rivoli with all it's shops, restaurants galore, bakeries, etc., etc. Being smack in the center of the greatest city in the world in such a fabulous apt. hosted by such a charming and considerate host helped make our last days of vacation seem like a dream. We used VRBO for the first time for our trip to Paris and had the best time. The apartment we rented was located perfectly in the center of town. Everything around us just a few minute walk. Our landlord Serge was so helpful and kind. He told us which train to get on from the airport and he met us at the train station. The Apartment was a charming, very spacious one bedroom. The decor was tasteful and everything was so clean. He had consedered all our needs. He gave us so much info on the city and recommended wonderful restaurants. Cannot wait to go back!!!

Serge is just great ~ as is his place in Paris!! The location is amazing...you can see the Louvre from the living room window. There is a fully equip kitchen which is a great cost saver. The apartment was clean, well stocked with paper products as well as some beverages left in the fridge for us :-). We had a few connection issues with a US laptop and the European WiFi, but Serge was more than helpful with that as well. In summary, renting here translates to renting a great place from a great person. You'll be pleased.

This was both our first trip to Paris and first apartment rental from Vacatoin Rentals By Owner. We could not have been more pleased with both the City of Lights and an apartment to die for. The apartment is much more spacious than can be conveyed via photos. It was nicely appointed with beautiful gardenscapes outside all windows, including the floor to ceiling ones on the Rue de Louvre street far below. Birdfeeders outside the dining nook window with planted flowers made breakfast seem like a dream. The owner Sarge was extremely polite and helpful, especially to us first time visitors. Prompt replies via email on the PROVIDED desktop computer with printer made communication very easy and convenient. No need to lug a laptop when staying here! The Louvre metro stop is yards away and the Louvre museum is right next to the metro stop - can't get a better location for sightseeing. The bathroom is newly renovated and shower hot water is endless - complete with separate tub too. To sum it up, GREAT apartment, GREAT location, Great owner/host. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this rental to all. Thanks Sarge, we hope to stay there again in the future!

This is a terrific luxury apartment in Paris and we were lucky to be able to stay in it. The location was wonderful with the Lourve almost at your front door, a very short walk to the river, your choice of dozens of restaurants, and plenty of shopping nearby. This apartment was much larger than we expected and even though it states it sleeps 2 people, we found it could easily accomodate 4 or possibly 5 in three separate areas. There's a foldaway bed in the dining room and a very large comfortable "L" shaped sofa in the the large living room. The very best part of the apartment is a well kept secret. Even though you're up high with great views of Paris, there's a garden outside every window, even an occupied bird's nest with eggs. The owner has planted trees and flowers in deep planters and platforms which are absolutely beautiful. This is a privately owned apartment and it shows. The attention to service and detail is amazing. If you're worried about the "no lift", we're 60 years old and we managed the stairs at least twice a day after walking for hours on the Paris streets. They are not steep stairs and are quite manageable. And the owner very kindly carried all our luggage up and down for us.

The apartment is great: all comfort, very nicely and tastefully furnished, super clean. The bedroom is away from the street, so very quiet, with a window on a small courtyard. The location is just the best! Right next to subway stations (including a very convenient connection to the airport by train), next to the Louvre Museum, close to the Seine, rue Montorgueil and Le Marais. You can virtually walk everywhere or take a quick subway ride. There a couple of very nice restaurants around, including two that I would recommend right next door: Le Fumoir and Cafe des Inities (for a quick meal).
