Home away from Home..comfy and cozy

Guest: spencers mom (Canton Ct.)
Date of Stay: 12/25/09 Review Submitted: 01/09/10

Our family spent Christmas at this wonderful house. It is a perfect place to create memories in the Berkshires. Close to Butternut and Bish Bash Falls. We hiked to the falls and it was wonderful. The house is comfy and cozy well equipped with everything you need for a great stay. The cherrry floors in the bedrooms are just beautiful. There is a gourmet kitchen with everything from top of the line pots and pans to every spice under the sun!! The owners even made our stay extra special by leaving a nice bottle of wine on the counter for us. How nice is that? We would highly reccommend this home. You will not want to leave on the day of your departure. We wish we were still there!! Thanks Edy and Chris. It was a 10 plus!!! We hope to come back soon!!

Perfect for Us

Guest: Kevan H. (Belmont, MA)
Date of Stay: 12/02/11 Review Submitted: 12/08/11

This house is spacious and attractive both inside and out. It is well-equipped with a diverse collection of books, games, condiments, and appliances. It free of clutter, so that you can put your stuff down easily, move around without worrying about upsetting something from a coffee table, and store your clothes in the dressers. The garden is large, with a lawn big enough to play a game of soccer or toss a frisbee. The fireplace and living room are exceptionally suitable for those of us who like to burn wood and talk. The dining room seats a family of six. The beds are comfortable, the linens are clean, and the house smells of fresh. The owner and her staff are a pleasure to deal with, so that we feel welcome while we are there. My friends and I have stayed here twice, and we fully intend to stay here again.

Owner response:It is a pleasure to have you stay at our home. We look forward to having you again! We know how much you have enjoyed our land and even cutting up some fallen trees in the forested part of the property!

Two couples and two children

Guest: Tony (Alexandria, VA)
Date of Stay: 10/07/11 Review Submitted: 10/16/11

We had a lovely stay in the Berkshires over the long Columbus Day weekend. The area surrounding this rental is beautiful, the weather was perfect, and we really liked the small town of Great Barrington, which is about 5-10 minutes drive from the house. The house was adequate, and probably good value for the price in this popular area, but could use some updating in decor and furnishings and a thorough cleaning. The kitchen is nice and well stocked, and the living room was comfortable. Our children enjoyed the games and toys available for young guests to use. The yard and exterior could do with some maintenance and the house is nearly directly on State Route 7, the main thoroughfare in the Berkshires, so traffic noise was a minor issue. Overall, we had a very good experience and both couples and both children were well accomodated for in the house, but we will look to stay elsewhere in future visits to this area.

Owner response:We are sorry that you did not feel the house was all that it was made out to be. This is an old farmhouse and has it's wonderful creaks and rememberances of time long ago. The area has been hit hard with high winds and you are right the outside needed a good clean-up from those winds. We hope your experience in the future with other rentals will meet your expectations. We do want everyone who rents with us to love the experience.

Perfect Spot for Family Gathering

Guest: Gael M.
Date of Stay: 08/13/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

This was my first rental through Home Away and it won't be my last! Every aspect was a pleasure, from communications with Edy prior to the visit to the sad day when we had to say farewell to friends, family and depart. House was everything it was advertised to be and in perfect condition with beds made and even included a welcoming bottle of wine. Home had everything we needed including a brand new Weber grill. We probably did not travel about as much as many and for the most part could not follow up on the interesting activities that Edy suggested. Our family included a 6 month old baby, so friends and extended family were invited to stop by for visits. During a rainy day we drove to the Clark Museum in Williamstown for a return visit. Very much enjoyed a morning at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Sheffield Pottery displays the work of many local artists and is worth a visit as well. Sheffield, surrounded by quality antique shops, is close enough to the bustle of Great Barrington, but quiet and relaxing. I highly recommend this property.

Owner response:Thanks for such a great review! We are really happy that you enjoyed your time at our home!

Snowy retreat

Guest: chris g (boston, ma)
Date of Stay: 02/25/11 Review Submitted: 03/20/11

My friends and I had a great time at the house in February. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace, and the lovely, fully stocked kitchen. We were also most appreciative of the wireless internet connection, as one of our party had a dead battery, and we were able to find a friendly, competent mechanic, who was willing to come to the house to fix the vehicle.

Great spot for a family get together

Guest: Adam (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 12/23/10 Review Submitted: 01/06/11

We rented this house with family members over the holidays and had a wonderful experience. The house was comfortable and well-appointed with plenty of room for 4 adults and 3 small children. We happened to be at the house during a large snow storm and within an hour or two our driveway had been plowed and the owner made sure that we were taken care of. The house has great access to Great Barrington, and Sheffield and was very easy to get to from the airport at Hartford. There was lots of wood for us to use to enjoy the wood fireplace in the living room, but it would also be great to return sometime in the summer to be able to use the spacious porch on the front. All in all a great time.

Fun week in the Berkshires

Guest: David (NJ)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 08/11/10

We just returned from a lovely week in the Berkshires and wish to recommend this rental home. All of the compliments mentioned in the other reviews are well deserved. The owners couldn't have been more accomodating. Everything is as advertised with no surprises. Extra foods and amenities were so much appreciated. The area has many charming places to walk, past cornfields and old homes, and it is 20 minutes away from the Disneyland that is Lenox/Lee/Stockbridge. All in all a wonderful experience. Thanks, Edy!

We stayed at this home for several months and had a fabulous time! The home has everything you need, including a fantastic kitchen with all the extras. Books, videos, games and a HUGE yard for the the kids. We loved the location, which is close to all the all the Berkshires has to offer, including Great Barrington and Tanglewood. It's also close to a couple of pools in Canaan, which is nice in the Summer. Edy and Chris were also the best! They are very friendly and easy to work with.

We stayed at this beautiful home twice in Feb and absolutely loved our experience here. The house is conveniently located from Great Barrington and is in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. The property is very well maintained and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The owners are super nice and helpful and have done everything possible to make this place a memorable experience. Thanks for making our stay memorable. We will visit again.

We truly enjoyed our stay in this house! It was clean, comfortable, convenient to skiing and other activities, and kid-friendly. Edy was a gem to work with and made my (first time) VRBO experience very easy and flexible. We hope to be back during the summer...
