My husband and I spent our honeymoon in paradise at Casa de Serenidad! Before even arriving to Costa Rica, I was so impressed with how hospitable Babe was in making sure our travel arrangements were confirmed, that we knew what to pack, and even in offering to buy us some groceries before our arrival! When we got to Costa Rica, Babe had scheduled transportation to pick us up from the airport and they were there waiting on time, a huge relief when traveling the day after your wedding! Then we arrived at paradise at Casa de Serenidad. From the moment Babe opened her front doors, we were stunned by the incredible view the entire villa has! Sometimes, it was so breathtaking, it was almost as if it was a beautiful painting placed in front of you rather than the real thing! Babe gave us a tour of the grounds which included our apartment, Villa del Pacifico, which had views of the stunning ocean from nearly all angles. The apartment itself had everything we needed, air conditioning, a very comfy bed, TV (with lots of soccer channels, a huge plus for my husband!), bathroom, full stocked kitchen, etc. The grounds have an amazing rooftop deck that I spent 90% of my time on tanning with the iguanas! There is also a covered pool on the deck with a hammock. On the other side of the grounds there is a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the Pacific. My husband and I would go swimming in the morning and watch all of the birds and butterflies play to the sounds of the ocean, it was just perfect! Needless to say, we barely ever left the Casa! There is a beach in an alcove below, but I wasn't too keen on making the hike down (I was absolutely exhausted from a long month and just wanted to relax!). We highly recommend renting a car to get around the area. The first night we were there, we decided to walk to a nearby restaurant..bad idea, we were attacked by mosquitoes and were drenched in sweat upon arrival! Since we didn't come well prepared, walking everywhere didn't cut it for us. So we rented a car for an affordable price and drove to many of the beaches nearby. We drove to Playa Flamingo which I guess you could walk to, but I think it'd be a long walk! Playa Flamingo was our favorite beach, just beautiful! Because its not a hotel, don't expect daily room service or housekeeping. You keep it up the way you would your own home. If you don't mind that, then you won't be disappointed with Casa de Serenidad, again, its paradise!

OK, It was windy, and the fires were raging on the distant mountains and It didn't detract an iota on the perfect place to reconnect with relationships not to mention beautiful mother nature. OK so we were at this amazing place during spring break and I took it upon myself to count the throngs of people I expected on the perfect beach....Flamingo, to my surprise there were half a dozen people crowding the mile long beach at my breakfast time, and maybe a dozen people by lunch time and maybe 2 dozen on the week ends. The beach was a 10 and so too was our property owners Babe and her sweet hubby. We honestly can't wait to return and see the place when it is green and the tourist have gone!

My boyfriend and I spent 10 relaxing days at this property. From waking up to stunning views, having our morning coffee and feeding the iguanas, utilizing a great gym and ping pong table to enjoying the pool (when not at the beach) and patio with a fully equipped bbq, we truly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and well maintained and the photos lived up to our expectations. The owners were helpful with various recommendations and readily available to provide anything we may require. We enjoyed dining at Angelina's (fantastic service and food) and Mar y Sol (beautiful sunsets and great food). Day trips: Rincon de la Vieja; we enjoyed hiking, waterfall, mud baths and hot springs. Catarata de Bagaces was great day trip as well. The waterfall is beautiful, a great place for lunch and a refreshing swim. We would recommend this property to our friends and family. Thanks for a great stay.

"Our 11 days at Casa de la Serinidad rank with the best beach setting in our many years of travel. The spectacular complex, especially the villa overlooking the sea, provides stunning views of the ocean and Playa Flamingo. Hammocks high above the sea but in the shade, comfortable lawn chairs, a barbecue/picnic area, the enticing swimming pool--all combine for a vacation setting extraordinaire. The site is matched by its proprietors, Babe and Don, there to answer every need, directions to beaches, sunset spots and restaurant recommendations. The pictures on this website don't lie; the complimentary reviews are well-earned. We hope we someday return...and the Hopkinses are still meeting guests...at this stunning corner of Central America."

My husband and I stayed for a week at Casa de Serenidad and loved every minute of our stay. Babe arranged easy transportation back and forth to the airport for us as well as helped us to rent a car, that was delivered right to our door. The indoor accommodations were great (clean, modern, comfy bed, nice kitchen, beautiful breezes but a/c when we wanted it) but it almost didn't even matter because the property is phenomenal. We lived mostly outdoors on the balcony, in the hammocks over the wading pool, and in the infinity pool reveling at the amazing view at this property. We will definitely return and hopefully to stay much longer!

My husband and I just spent a week here and plan to go back for sure! (Told Babe to save the date for our 50th wedding Anniversary) . You could not ask for a better place to go and relax and enjoy the scenery and the weather and the view and the privacy. The "town" is just down the hill with restaurants and grocery stores, and many other beaches are so nearby you could go to several in one day.The locals are so friendly and eager to help you find whatever you are looking for. Babe will make reservations at restaurants and you get a discount! She constantly helped us find out about stuff to do and told us about local events. We had spent our first week at an exclusive all -inclusive hotel nearby and we liked this place far better! Book it, you will never be sorry you did.Better than 5 stars.

We wanted to get away from New Jersey February weather for a couple of weeks in a sunny place and Costa Rica was our choice because we knew we could depend on the weather. Casa de Serenidad seemed the ideal place in a quiet location to relax and laze out on some of the nearby beaches. The location is perfect; close enough to Flamingo and Brasilito, but far enough away. We stayed in the studio, El Escondito. The owner, Babe, and the staff were helpful and our unit was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the spectacular view of Portrero Bay from our little patio during our breakfast of tropical fruits and Costa Rican coffee. If you are looking for a great little get-away this is definitely a great place to stay.

BEAUTIFUL - what a view! Extremely relaxing. Nice infinity pool - BBQ area with swing - villa is spacious and well appointed. Owner extremely helpful in organizing tours & arranging shuttles & car rental. Staff efficient & very friendly. Favorite spot is rooftop ocean-view wading pool with hammocks above water. Very private and quiet - yet within walking distance to nice restaurants and the white, large Playa Flamingo beach. We will return!

We were long overdue for a vacation and were fortunate to have discovered Casa de Serenidad. We awoke each morning and fell asleep each night to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below. We like quiet, privacy, and the ability to prepare meals but the option for adventure, interaction with local people, and restaurants when we choose to do so. This location provides all the advantages of being on the beach but high above it to enjoy it's beauty without the crowds. We began each morning with a walk down the hill and along the beach followed by breakfast at either Maria's or at our home away from home to prepare our own meals to enjoy it from our private patio overlooking the ocean. We always choose to have a rental car to explore the surrounding area at our own time and pace and found much to keep us occupied within short driving distances from Playa Flamingo, however, a car is not essential. There were days we were perfectly content to take a dip in the pool, or read in the hammock or fish off the rocks. The owners, Babe and Don, are wonderful people who make you feel welcome and their friendly Tico staff keep the area immaculate. Of all of our vacations, this one exceeded all expectations. We hope to return again and recommend Casa de Serenidad to all of our family, current friends, and those we've yet to meet. Jan Stephens & Wally Humphries, Boise Idaho and Fairbanks Alaska

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one week last Christmas (through New Years) and it was absolutely the BEST vacation we have ever had together. Prior to settling on our travel plans we did a tremendous amount of research and selected this Villa primarily due to the wonderful communication and assistance we received from Babe from the first email! Having never visited Costa Rica before we had a lot of questions and she made us feel safe, comfortable and secure. The villa and property is exactly as the pictures depict, actually even better in person once you are engulfed in all the beauty that is Costa Rica. Babe and her husband were absolutely a pleasure, treating us like family as soon as we arrived (welcoming us into their home for Christmas dinner with their friends!!). Babe went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed; booked and organized excursions for us and made wonderful recommendations for everything we asked. The property is in a prime location, very secluded yet still only a quick walk / drive down the hill to the main town and beach. One of my favorite things was sitting on our deck looking out at the waves drinking AM coffee or late night wine. The stars at night ALONE are breathtaking and something to see! CR was an amazing place to visit but staying at Casa de Serenidad definitely helped tip the scales. Babe's recco's helped us book an overnight at Arenal Volcano, Zip lining tour and visit with Monkeys (THE BEST!!!!), Hot Springs and a local surf lesson. All of which were AWESOME but my monkey Manolo will always hold a special place in my heart! Babe was so awesome helping us with that and organizing our rides. We will DEFINITELY come back for a visit and plan to stay at the same location. I am not kidding when I say the villa felt like home. Privacy, beauty, comfort and savings that you can never get from a hotel. THANKS AGAIN BABE!! Anthony & I are so sorry for the delay in this review. I hope all is well with you and we hope to see you again very soon!

We loved your ocean front villa. Eating and drinking on the patio overlooking the ocean was the best! Everything we needed and more thanks to Babe. The use of the sea kayak was greatly appreciated and was one of the highlights of our Costa Rican holiday. We kayaked to the small island beach, collected shells and soaked up the sun. Fabulous! Loved using your boogie boards too! My birthday dinner was so special at Mar Y Sol. The sunset was phenomenal. Thank you!

My Husband & I had been planning our vacation to Costa Rica for sometime. We originally had booked a reservation at another resort but after reading the reviews more closely realized it was not what we wanted!!! We really were looking for a quaint, secluded, clean and safe location. Because we were not familiar with the area and decided an all inclusive resort was really not what we were after we really did our homework the second time when looking for our "perfect" getaway. WE certainly found it!! Babe (owner of the villa) could not have been more accommodating and helpful!!! The villa itself was just perfect! Overlooking the beautiful Pacific with a white sandy beach just 2 minutes down the hill. The local accommodations were within close proximity and great restaurants everywhere!! We visited during the rainy season and we surely experienced Costa Rica's RAINY season-but we could not have picked a better villa to be rained in at. We have already begun planning our next trip back to take our children!!! Thanks again Don & Babe.

The first thing to say is that Don and Babe are fantastic people..good fun, open and friendly yet respecting of privacy. Communications were excellent from the start which gave me confidence when booking and there was a stream of helpful information as the booking progressed. We drove from Arenal where we had been staying in absolute luxury at the Nayara hotel and were fully prepared to have a lesser experience at the beach but nothing could be further from the truth. The accomodation was clean and bright with a beautiful view and the soothing sound of the waves down below. The facilities were excellent. Everything is as you see it on the photos and better. The beach is great for a stroll, surfing and swimming though the water pulls you in fast. We tended to stay by our pool for swimming. We took several tours while we were there; a mangrove boat tour down the Tempisque River and then an adventure day of zip wires, horse riding and tubing down the rapids at Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Both thoroughly recommended.A sat nav in Costa Rica is very useful. You can rent them from the car hire that Don and Babe recommend. Don't get maps for your own machine unless you load it with Costa Rican EZ Finder maps. We had a fantastic time here and would love to go back.

My wife and I took our first vacation without kids in over a decade and stayed at 'Villa Vista Del Pacifico' for two weeks. It was our first VRBO experience, too, and I must say it was a great choice! The entire property was beautiful, clean, and inviting and really provided us a special home from which we based our entire trip. The location is spectacularly beautiful and within the first couple of days we settled into what I can only describe as a tropical rhythm; up with the sunrise, breakfast at Marie's, maybe relax on the beautiful, white sand Playa Flamingo or any of the other nearby beaches for a few hours. Afternoons were great for lazing around the infinity-edge pool, checking out the little rocky beach at the bottom of the hill, or just napping in the villa amid ocean breeze and sea sounds. I found Frommer's Costa Rica to be pretty helpful for getting to know the area before we got there, but our host, Babe, was even more so. She made it feel as if we were visiting friends or family in Costa Rica and we just happened to have our own Villa! One activity Babe recommended was the Hibiscus Cruise. DEFINITELY book yourself an afternoon sail during your trip; great staff, boat, food, and value... it was a highlight for us. Playa Flamingo is situated such that it was easy to explore places (Babe hooked us up with Adobe where we rented a little jeep) from Tamarindo to Liberia without burning up whole days doing so. We also spent two nights in Lake Arenal which I highly recommend. It's about a 5 hour drive from 'Casa De Serinidad' which sounds long but we had a ball taking in the beautiful and varied Costa Rican interior. Lake Arenal is absolutely gorgeous; It's a mix of alpine and tropical elements you really must experience for yourself. We so thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on this trip! If and when we get a chance to return to Costa Rica, we'll definitely be staying here again. Make sure you click on the 'property information with photos' link on the VRBO site; it will take you to the Casa De Serinidad home site which has more pictures of the properties they offer... also I forgot to mention that there were guests staying in the other apartments while we were there and we never felt a lack of privacy at all. The place is laid out so you can truly feel alone when you want to. That said, we made great friends around the pool! If you're planning a trip to coastal Guanacaste, THIS is the place to stay... have fun!

We had a great time during our stay at La Casa de Serenidad for our honeymoon! Babe made us feel welcome from the time we inquired about the location. She answered all of our questions, arranged a shuttle to and from the airport (with a discounted rate) and picked-up a short grocery list for a small fee before our arrival. We enjoyed the view immensely while having breakfast on the balcony each morning. We recommend bringing water shoes to enjoy the private alcove and bug spray for the short walk down to it. If you're adventurous, you can walk/climb the rocks around the alcove to Flamingo beach. The private beach across the street is exquisite! The hammocks suspended across the pool were great for relaxing after a long day. Although it would be easy to stay at the compound for an entire trip, we urge everyone to get out and explore the rich culture and people of Guanacaste! There are several beautiful beaches nearby (playa grande is one of our favorites) and a variety of ways to have fun in the area like horseback riding, ziplining, surfing and sailing! We can't wait to bring our family back in the future to experience la pura vida :)

We've gone to Casa de Serenidad several times now and each time it's been an incredible experience. Casa de Serenidad has become a sort of home away from home. One of our friends who has come with us described it as "being at the beauty of the beach without having to deal without the extra hassle of sand, etc." But if you ever want to go to a gorgeous, semi private beach, it's just a short walk; or Playa Flamingo is always close and never over crowded. We took an all girls trip recently and felt completely safe, secure, and relaxed. The renters, Don and Babe Hopkins, are also fabulously hospitable people who make you feel as if you were coming to your second home. Both have lived in Costa Rica for long time and are familiar with sites you can see or activities you may want to partake in and around the Tamarindo/Guanacaste area. Or if you're just looking to get away for simple rest and relaxation, Casa de Serenidad truly lives up to it's name as a house of serenity.

My first trip to Costa Rica was truly one of the best vacations I have ever taken. I stayed in Villa Vista del Pacifico for a week and it was everything as described on this site plus some. The view from the very large balcony is truly amazing, beyond words really, and you will just have to experience it for yourself. The gentle sound of the waves crashing against the beach are extremely peaceful and is an incredible sound to wake up to. The top deck area with the hammocks was an amazing place for me to read and relax. Because of the roof over the hammocks I could always find some shade if I wanted to. I could go on and on about the beauty of the villa and Playa Flamingo, but many other reviewers have done this so I will end that portion of my review here. The truly amazing thing about my vacation were the hosts. Babe and Don will help you with practically anything you need and do it with a smile and kindness rarely shown in my many travels. As a solo traveler this was especially helpful. From the first e-mail, Babe was ready to help me have a wonderful stay. I gave her a list of groceries and she went shopping and had the villa filled with everything I needed when I arrived! (including a heavy case of beer). She made reservations for me every night at a couple of the local restaurants. I highly recommend Mar Y Sol, it is an excellent restaurant and they will pick you up and bring you back to the villa! I didn't have a car and Babe was kind enough to drive me to another local restaurant when Mar Y Sol was closed. She booked a sunset snorkeling cruise for me aboard the Lazy Lizard (a large catamaran sailboat, I highly recommend doing this) and once again would not let me pay for the ridiculous amount they wanted to charge for transportation to the boat and drove me there and back. (Keep in mind these were all short drives, and Babe was doing me a huge favor......if you plan on doing a lot of eating out and activities Babe will definitely hook you up with a rental car). In closing, if you read this and don't book your stay as soon as possible, I promise you will regret it. Thank you Babe for all you did to make my vacation wonderful and I will be back as soon as I possibly can!

My husband and I chose to stay in the villa for our 10th anniversary. It was the perfect place!! The pictures don't do the villa justice. It was quite comfortable for the two of us, private and the views were amazing. We loved having a home away from home!! From the first email, Babe was most helpful and answered all my questions. Babe booked our van pickup to/from the airport (an hour drive). We knew we'd be too tired to drive and didn't want to navigate. We had a rental car for the middle part of our trip and Babe arranged that for us and we were glad we had the car. We did walk to town prior to our car's arrival, and it was a pleasant 15 minute walk. We enjoyed the local restaurants and our afternoon margaritas at Marie's!! Since we were there in June, it was quite humid and rainy. The rain typically came in the afternoon with lightening and thunder, which was spectactular. We usually stayed inside and relaxed, read and even enjoyed the gym downstairs! The private beach below is beautiful as is the private beach across the street. We did enjoy the main Flamingo Beach as well. Beautiful water! Our big trip with our rental was a drive to Arenal Volcano which was well worth the 4 hours! The volcano and surrounding area were amazing. We considered driving there and back but Babe suggested we stay a night in Arenal so we did (thankfully!). We stayed in the Arenal Observatory Lodge and loved it. So much hiking to do right around the lodge. We also enjoyed our river cruise to see local birds, monkeys and crocs! Our tour ate at an authenic restaurant and even went to a pottery place for a demo and shopping. Babe also arranged this and transportation came right to us which was perfect because it was our last full day and the rental car was being picked up. Overall, our stay was amazing and it was a wonderful first trip to Costa Rica. When our boys are a bit older, we'd consider going back and staying there again with them!! We can't thank Babe and Don enough for their hospitality!!! You won't be sorry booking this villa!

We're not fond of cliches, but the word 'paradise' kept coming to mind while we visited with Babe & Don in Playa Flamingo. We loved the views on the web-site, but they simply don't touch the experience of the multi-dimensional beauty of Casa de Serenidad. Our room had a simply magnificent view, with the surf sighing, or crashing, just below our deck. The wind off the water was refreshing, the room spacious and very comfortable - and the amenities and the friendship of our hosts made for a very enjoyable stay. We felt like we were home, with caring friends helping us discover their wonderful community. Babe & Don never missed an opportunity to give us information, support - even scheduling excursions (and massages!) for us at excellent rates. Their recommendations on everything from great restaurants (don't miss Mar y Sol!) to wonderful sight-seeing, to which rental car agency to use, even getting our exit tax paper work in advance [we missed an amazingly long line at the airport due to this advice] was always excellent. We'd go back again next week and do it all over - perhaps that's the best recommendation possible? We'd recommend staying at Casa de Serenidad without hesitation - it's simply splendid.

My wife and I spent 9 fantastic days at both El Escondite and Pacifico. Both apartments were perfect for what we were looking for while in CR. Very private and quiet. Both apartments have good access to the infinity pool and the sheltered wading pool. We very much appreciated all of the assistance Babe provided in recommending tours and where to eat. She was even good enough to book our tours on our behalf and to remind us as to what we had planned for the day. My favorite activity was Kayak fishing with Ralph and my favorite meal was at Mar Y Sol. The surroundings are so peaceful allowing my wife and I to relax whether by enjoying a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine sitting back and enjoying the scenery. Thank you Babe and thank you Don for providing us with a unforgettable vacation in CR. We will definitely be back.

If we could have stayed longer we would have. In fact, we would move right in if they would let us. This is our 3rd time visiting this region of Costa Rica, but our 1st time staying at Casa de Serenidad. The view from the villa was truly amazing and took my breath away each and every time we returned from an outing! And the sounds of the green parrots and the surf as I woke each morning was a much welcomed change from our alarm clock back home. This was truly one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever taken surrounded by the most beautiful view I have ever seen. My husband, daughter and I rented Villa de Pacifico, while my parents rented Casita Mango. Thanks to Babe, our wonderful host, everything was perfect. From arranging transportation, booking our zip line tour and providing restaurant suggestions, to finding a baker to make a butterfly birthday cake for my daughter and putting together a beautiful flower arrangement for my parents' room upon request, our stay was better than we could have ever asked for. THANKS BABE! You and Casa de Serenidad are a true treasure. It was in the upper 90's and very hot, but the pool was so refreshing and so was the constant cool breeze off the ocean. Our villa was very clean and comfortable and I slept like a rock each night. The kitchen has everything you need plus the gas BBQ was great for an evening cookout by the pool. We attempted to take the kayak out, but the surf at the time was too strong...next time. And my favorite beach was the hidden secluded sandy beach found down a path (it's steep) across the street from the villa. I felt like we had our own private beach. Be sure to ask Babe where to find the path. This villa has it all! The price is very reasonable...the view is worth a million bucks on its own. We will be back next year if not sooner. But don't tell anyone, if others learn about this place I'm sure Babe will be flooded with reservation requests, which will make it hard for us to go whenever we want. So shhhhh! Pura Vida!

Unbelievable house, with very private apartments. Both the pools are awesome, views I can't even describe. All I can say is that from the public Playa Flamingo beach you can see the house hanging off the cliffs, and everybody wonders who lives there. Well for you vacation you can. BBQ grill overlooking the water, shade and sun depending on your mood. We took the kayaks out(your basic ocean kayak with padded seats and back) and went out to the island just north of the point(check google earth), and then around to the other side of the Playa Flamingo point. We cooked every day, and grocery store is maybe 10 min drive away. Highly recommend this property, and dealing with Babe and her husband was super easy from the first email to the last hug before we parted ways. We will be coming back sometime in our lives and staying here guaranteed. Book quick or I will :)

My husband and I have just returned from 3 wonderful weeks at Casa de Serenidad and encourage everyone to go. It was truly paradise and far exceeded our expectations - the photos on the website can't do it justice and it really was paradise. We had wanted to go to Costa Rica for some time but, as retirees, we were a bit wary as to where to stay, until we saw Casa de Serenidad on your web site. We totally agree with all the wonderful reviews and it turned out to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. The villa is a dream - clean and well maintained - spacious and airy with windows all around with magnificent views - great amenities (gym, pools, hammocks, laundry etc.) all in a great location. Babe and Don our hosts were so friendly and gracious and made us totally at home - they provided us with the peace and privacy we wanted and yet were available whenever we needed anything. They helped us arrange car hire for the duration of our stay and when we wanted to explore further afield (the Arenal rain forest, volcanoes etc.) they arranged tours for us. They also arranged transport to and from the airport which was a real boon. Their staff are so efficient and friendly and made us feel so welcome. We loved our stay at Casa de Serenidad and still can't believe that such a wonderful place exists at such a reasonable price. We hope to return ourselves and would certainly recommend this rental to all - - you really won't be disappointed. The only downside was that we weren't able to stay longer than three weeks but will certainly try to do so in the future. Babe and Don made this the vacation of a lifetime. Don't miss it!!

HOLA! Our much anticipated adventure trip was better than we could imagine. The gentle rhythm of the sea permeated the villa and became part of our mornings and evenings. Green parrots joined us for breakfast each day and provided an energetic back ground chatter. Our days were filled with activity and our evenings filled with drink and food and conversation. Babe and Don are fantastic and great at what they do. Babe and I began our communication via email 6 months prior to my arrival. In that time she was able to shape this vacation to meet our needs. She made our reservations for transportation and guided us in the right direction. Providing for others in this way is truly a gift and one that I'm sure is rewarding. We hope to return again. Best vacation/trip!!!!

Beautiful, peaceful, quiet! Look no more ,best location in Gunacaste. We spent one month at Casa De Sereidad and the only problem was it was not long enough.. Located on a beautiful winding hillside street, with amazing views every way you look. Private gorgous beaches on both sides. Fantastic farmers markets with fresh fish , tropical fruits and vege's. Walking distants to amazing restaurant Mar Y Sol,great happy hour, we rate it 5 stars. Owners Babe and Don ,care takers, could not have been more helpful, making sure we were totally comfortable. Plan to return to paradise in winter 2012, hopefully for two months. Patti and Fred Santa Fe P.s Don't miss Arenal and Monteverde area!

This property exceeded our expectations. The views from the main room are spectacular. Having coffee on the deck was delightful, complete with several white-fronted parrots that visited each morning. The hammocks on the top deck (where there was always a breeze) are a perfect place to cool off in the afternoon. The unit is spacious and well-maintained, includes cable TV and wi-fi, and the fully-equipped gym was an added bonus. The owners are very welcoming and helpful in all aspects. Come to Casa de Serenidad to relax and enjoy the beautiful country of Costa Rica, a birder's delight.

My wife and I had an amazing time in Costa Rica and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Serenidad. I would like to begin by thanking Don and Babe for being so welcoming and adding to our overall experience. We greatly enjoyed their hospitality and appreciated having them available to answer any and all questions that we had about the area. The accommodations were great and exceeded our expectations. We found the location to be very convenient to Flamingo Beach and surrounding areas. The property itself was picturesque, well maintained, and had all the conveniences . We really enjoyed the gym, pools, and one of the most AMAZING VIEWS I have ever seen! Our apartment there was clean, comfortable, spacious, and I thought that the suspension bridge was a cool touch. We even found the house staff to be very friendly and enjoyed having them around. I would now like share a few of our experiences. I was pleasantly surprised at all that there was to do in Flamingo Beach and the surrounding areas. The majority of our time was spent visiting the different beaches in the area. Flamingo, Tamarindo (fun little surfer town), Sugar, etc. were all great, but our favorite beach by far was right across the street from the Casa. You have to hike down a bit, but a deserted white sand beach with crystal green water awaits you at the bottom. MAKE SURE you ask Don and Babe about this little beach! In addition to our spent at the beach, we went on a few great excursions. My wife and I both really enjoyed zip lining through the canopy, but the highlight of my trip was the kayak fishing trip that Babe recommended. A great guy named Ralph picked me up from the house and took me to a bay where we caught several fish out of kayaks. It was only $60, was an absolute blast, and I brought my own fresh fish home to eat. Make sure and ask Babe about Ralph! We also greatly enjoyed eating out almost every meal at the fantastic local restaurants. Excellent food and great service await you at Mar Y Sol, Angelina's, Marie's, Las Brisas, Il Forno, and others. Lastly, I would like to comment on the culture of the people of Costa Rica. My wife and I both greatly enjoyed the friendly and welcoming nature of the local people. We had fun brushing up on our Spanish as we got to know them. We felt completely safe and were treated with respect everywhere we went. Flamingo Beach and Casa Serenidad far surpassed our expectations and we will definitely be back!!! Gracias Mi Amigos! My boyfriend and I just returned late last night from an incredible vacation to Costa Rica. As an emergency physician, I see how life can stop abruptly without warning and yet how hope, faith and Milagros (miracles) is what all that really matters. I discovered this Milagro because I was in true need of my own healing and sense of renewal. Babe and Don are beyond excellent hosts. You feel as if the entire property is your own home. I have traveled extensively and Babe has a true skill of getting to know your needs and interest to make arrangements without feeling pressure. We thoroughly enjoyed our full hour massages with the sounds and sights of Costa Rica surrounding us. While you drive through Flamingo and see the few scattered resorts, you only need to look up from the circular cove beach to see your home. Further your experience by going to the second floor open air balcony with incredible views of Mar y Sol and try their Lobster Bisque or Gazpacho. The French Chef has amazing talent and all of the staff are obviously happy to make your evening special. We highly recommend that you rent a 4 WD car to enhance your experience. It makes it easier to see remote beaches. On New Years Eve, toasting the sunset at Mar y Sol, I had to include Babe and Don in my appreciation for the best life has to offer. Simple beauty, peace, grace and simplicity. The pictures cannot do justice on God's grace. I got a chance to see all of the accommodations on the property and no matter which one you chose, you will have everything you need. You just may have to face jealousy of friends and family as you share your own pictures. Maggie & Kirk

The oceanfront villa at Casa de Serenidad is too beautiful for words. In fact everything about this location in Costa Rica prompts you to want to return as soon as possible. We intend to come back next year and stay a month this time with Don and Babe Hopkins! They are the best, period! We got lost trying to find the location/house on our first night there and called Babe for help! She got in her car at !1:00 PM at night and came to get us and show us the way to paradise! Then, Don let us use his truck to transport the ocean kyack to Flamingo Beach and his gardener even helped us put it on and take if off the vehicle. Babe suggested the River Tour and this was truly a memorable experience. Crocodiles, tucans, howler monkeys and huge iguanas were seen all day long and the guides were the best that we have ever had on a tour! So, I loved our honeymoon/vacation in Costa Rica at Casa de Serenidad and I have recommended this spot already to other tourists that we met on the trip as well as all my friends at home. I have visited Belize and Buzios, Brazil and these places (while very nice) cannot compare in the beauty and the serenity that you find at this wonderful spot. I will return next year and see more of Costa Rica and enjoy once again this wonderful vacation rental where we were fortunate enough to stay on our honeymoon.

This is heaven on earth ! We went in early November and even though it was still the rainy season, it was perfect ! The hillsides are so green and lush this time of year and the town is very peaceful.... There is nothing like watching the rain while sitting on the beautiful patio and taking in the view ! You won't find a better place or better hosts anywhere ! Just book it and you won't be sorry ! We can't wait to come back and spend more time next time ! Thanks Babe and Don ! You're great !

We really had a great time in Costa Rica and specifically at the Flamingo Beach condo. Babe is a great host. Lots of nice touches to the unit. There was a book with other renters comments. That had some nice tips. Also there was a short history of Costa Rica which was very informative. The one picture of the hammocks over the wading pool really clinched it for us. And believe me when you settle in and you dangle a toe in the cool water you will recognize the sheer genius of this set up. I would go back here, and have no problem recommending it to anyone. We also liked taking a boat tour of the estuary at Tamarindo. We had a great dinner at the Flamingo Beach resort. Watching large igaunas on the hillside form the condo. The sound of the surf was amazing.

Two weeks have passed and I am still smiling and relaxed. We purposely picked rainy season to stay in Costa Rica, avoiding the tourist season. The rain provided true serenity with time to simply watch the waves, the storms move in/out and time to simply breathe. Casa de Serenidad is even more beautiful than the pictures, you feel like you stepped into a home right out of a magazine. The layout of the condo was such that you feel the ocean breeze 24/7 and you will get the best sleep of your life with the sound of the ocean. We cooked breakfast in the condo and spent lots of time on the various balconies. The fitness room ensured I kept my trainer happy while allowing my mind to wander as I watched the ocean. When ready, Babe & Don ensured we had stuff to do and any needed reservations were made. The personal touches by Babe were much appreciated and just made for one of the best weeks of my life. I encourage each of you to explore Playa Flamingo, eat in Brasilito (all the restaurants and "sodas" are outstanding) and wander through Guanacaste - and of course above all you must stay at Casa de Serenidad....

My boyfriend and I stayed for El Escondite for 4 nights in August and it was a wonderful stay. The studio is very private and has huge sliding doors that open to a beautiful view to Playa Flamingo. We also used many of the amenities that Casa de Serenidad had to offer... from the wonderful hammock's in the wading pool, to the chairs on the deck to catch some sun, to the laundry facilities - Babe and Don even pulled out surfboards for us! I forgot an item at the studio and Babe so graciously offered to send it to me! They were wonderful hosts and it was truly special to be able to stay at El Escondite! It's truly as amazing as it looks in the pictures!

My new husband and I stayed at this villa for our honeymoon and found it to be absolutely perfect!! The views are phenomenal, and Babe and Don answered every question and helped out in every way they could. Everything was very clean and tidy, and the maid service was also excellent. It is perfect for a honeymoon because it is such a peaceful, serene place to stay and its so easy to relax and just take in Costa Rica's beauty!! There were plenty of things to do right there on the property. We really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend other honeymooners stay there as well - its as close as you'll get to Paradise!!

Our stay at your condo in playa flamingo was amazing. The views were more than we expected. The condo was clean and private. We really appreciated you stocking the refrigerator prior to our arrival. It gave us a chance to try some local Costa Rican specialties. Chocolate covered pineapple anyone? The condo was a 15 minute walk to the beach and several local restaurants. We couldn't get enough of those friend plantains! Casa De Serinidad coupled with your hospitality made for an unforgettable vacation.

We just returned from a week in Costa Rica and our stay in Babe & Don's apartment exceeded all of expectations. They were the perfect host and offered more suggestions of things to do in the area than we could get to, so that means we'll have to return soon and we'll be looking to stay here again. The million dollar view is better than anything we've ever seen and it was very hard to return home yesterday. If you go to Costa Rica and don't stay here, you'll be sorry.

We just returned from a wonderful vacation in Costa Rica, the highlight of which was our stay at Casa Serenidad. We so enjoyed staying in this lovely and conveniently located the place. The accommodations were comfortable and very well maintained. Waking up every day and going to bed every night to spectacular views of the Pacific and the sound of the ocean was heaven. The pictures on the website do not completely capture the magic. Don and Babe were great hosts, their assistance and suggestions were invaluable. We would certainly recommend this home to our friends and family.

My mom and I just returned from a week stay at El Escondite Feb 15-22nd, 2010. It was our first mother daughter trip and it was a beautiful place to spend our time!! Our favorite part would have to be Gracie, their adorable black cocker spaniel. She was only 1 of 4 of their dogs!! We spent a couple days enjoying the gorgeous weather and sun by the pool. A couple days, we drove into Tamarindo and did some shopping. We went on a river excursion where we saw a full array of crocodiles, birds, iguanas, howler monkeys and bats. Don and Babe were great hosts..they were easy to contact but allowed us our privacy and space!! The sunsets are absolutely beautiful!! You're not able to see them from the property but if you take a quick walk up the hill, you have a gorgeous view and are able to take some breathtaking pictures!! If you're looking for a place where you can enjoy the hot sun and beautiful weather while being able to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet, this is the place for you :)

My fiance and I stayed at Casa de Serinidad over the holidays and we absolutely loved it. We opted to stay in the bachelor apartment called El Escondite and it was perfect for us in size and price. The owners are lovely and hospitable, the staff is extremely pleasant, and amenities are clean and always available for use. This place was perfect for rest and relaxation. It's quite high up a hill and very private, so if you don't have a car, be prepared to walk a fair distance up a hilly road to get to and from town. Nevertheless, the location makes it a safe oasis. Thanks Babe and Don!

What a place! Believe it or not, it is even more beautiful than the pictures on this website show. We can't wait to get back again! A spectacular view from the balcony; an awesome private little beach; sound of the surf at night and conveniently close to so many places to see in Guanacaste. Don was a gracious host and made us feel like family visiting. He was very helpful advising us on a couple of outing choices. (Don, sorry we missed you when we left. The fishing was great and the tour you suggested was very educational. Thanks so much.) Sherry & Mo, it was great seeing some of the local night life with you! Give us a year to rest up and we'll do it again! A wonderful week we'll always remember. Thanks to everyone at Casa de Serinidad. We'll be back. Ed & Robbi

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who truly wants a relaxing vacation. The sunset from Mar y Sol Restaurant (just down the hill from the villa) was amazing. I have never seen a sunset so beautiful! Don and Babe were very nice, always willing to help when we had questions. We can't wait to go back and stay here! Thank you for an amazing week.
