My boyfriend and I stayed for El Escondite for 4 nights in August and it was a wonderful stay. The studio is very private and has huge sliding doors that open to a beautiful view to Playa Flamingo. We also used many of the amenities that Casa de Serenidad had to offer... from the wonderful hammock's in the wading pool, to the chairs on the deck to catch some sun, to the laundry facilities - Babe and Don even pulled out surfboards for us! I forgot an item at the studio and Babe so graciously offered to send it to me! They were wonderful hosts and it was truly special to be able to stay at El Escondite! It's truly as amazing as it looks in the pictures!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We recently stayed at Villa Del Pacifico For thirteen glorious days. Babe and Don were the perfect hosts. Everything was just as advertised but even better as we were there to really see the amazing views ourselves.The view from the villa was breathtaking!! If you have a chance to go qnd stay at this wonderful spot in paradise you will not be disappointed.

I wasn't sure to rent this place until saw/read the comments... I was afraid that everything on the pictures and the description listed were partially fake... BUT IT ISN'T !!! I can tell you now that everything about this place is even better as it appears!!! I'm Costarrican and I know the beautiful of my country... I really recommend this place! You can use the Kayak and Snorkeling Equipment on this beautiful Beach -Flamingo Beach! I was able to saw different fish' species... just.. excellent! We enjoy the visit to "Casa de Serenidad"! Thank you very much Babe! We will come back soon!

Perfect for a honeymoon!!

My new husband and I stayed at this villa for our honeymoon and found it to be absolutely perfect!! The views are phenomenal, and Babe and Don answered every question and helped out in every way they could. Everything was very clean and tidy, and the maid service was also excellent. It is perfect for a honeymoon because it is such a peaceful, serene place to stay and its so easy to relax and just take in Costa Rica's beauty!! There were plenty of things to do right there on the property. We really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend other honeymooners stay there as well - its as close as you'll get to Paradise!!

Our stay at your condo in playa flamingo was amazing. The views were more than we expected. The condo was clean and private. We really appreciated you stocking the refrigerator prior to our arrival. It gave us a chance to try some local Costa Rican specialties. Chocolate covered pineapple anyone? The condo was a 15 minute walk to the beach and several local restaurants. We couldn't get enough of those friend plantains! Casa De Serinidad coupled with your hospitality made for an unforgettable vacation.

We just returned from a week in Costa Rica and our stay in Babe & Don's apartment exceeded all of expectations. They were the perfect host and offered more suggestions of things to do in the area than we could get to, so that means we'll have to return soon and we'll be looking to stay here again. The million dollar view is better than anything we've ever seen and it was very hard to return home yesterday. If you go to Costa Rica and don't stay here, you'll be sorry.

We just returned from a week in Costa Rica and our stay in Babe & Don's apartment exceeded all of expectations. Great spot to kick back and relax as it's removed from the main part of town on the cliffs at the north end of the peninsula. The gym is a nice touch and the covered hammock pool with tv made watching the Final Four especially nice........:)

We just returned from a wonderful vacation in Costa Rica, the highlight of which was our stay at Casa Serenidad. We so enjoyed staying in this lovely and conveniently located the place. The accommodations were comfortable and very well maintained. Waking up every day and going to bed every night to spectacular views of the Pacific and the sound of the ocean was heaven. The pictures on the website do not completely capture the magic. Don and Babe were great hosts, their assistance and suggestions were invaluable. We would certainly recommend this home to our friends and family.

My mom and I just returned from a week stay at El Escondite Feb 15-22nd, 2010. It was our first mother daughter trip and it was a beautiful place to spend our time!! Our favorite part would have to be Gracie, their adorable black cocker spaniel. She was only 1 of 4 of their dogs!! We spent a couple days enjoying the gorgeous weather and sun by the pool. A couple days, we drove into Tamarindo and did some shopping. We went on a river excursion where we saw a full array of crocodiles, birds, iguanas, howler monkeys and bats. Don and Babe were great hosts..they were easy to contact but allowed us our privacy and space!! The sunsets are absolutely beautiful!! You're not able to see them from the property but if you take a quick walk up the hill, you have a gorgeous view and are able to take some breathtaking pictures!! If you're looking for a place where you can enjoy the hot sun and beautiful weather while being able to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet, this is the place for you :)

My Girlfriend and I stayed in Casita Mango it was awesome! Babe and Don are A Class people the most hospitable hosts you couldn't ask for. You are in for a real treat it you are fortunate enough to meet them and stay in there beautiful home. Beautiful grounds, use of surf boards, snorkels, kayak, bbq you name it. We are coming back with friends and family in a few months because of the experience we had there. Thank you Babe and Don you made us feel like family :) -Jerred-

My fiance and I stayed at Casa de Serinidad over the holidays and we absolutely loved it. We opted to stay in the bachelor apartment called El Escondite and it was perfect for us in size and price. The owners are lovely and hospitable, the staff is extremely pleasant, and amenities are clean and always available for use. This place was perfect for rest and relaxation. It's quite high up a hill and very private, so if you don't have a car, be prepared to walk a fair distance up a hilly road to get to and from town. Nevertheless, the location makes it a safe oasis. What a place! Believe it or not, it is even more beautiful than the pictures on this website show. We can't wait to get back again! A spectacular view from the balcony; an awesome private little beach; sound of the surf at night and conveniently close to so many places to see in Guanacaste. Don was a gracious host and made us feel like family visiting. He was very helpful advising us on a couple of outing choices. (Don, sorry we missed you when we left. The fishing was great and the tour you suggested was very educational. Thanks so much.) Sherry & Mo, it was great seeing some of the local night life with you! We stayed at Casa de Serenidad 11/8/09-11/15/09 and were very lucky to have found this place. The view from the villa apt. is spectacular, the pictures really don't do this place justice. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who truly wants a relaxing vacation. The sunset from Mar y Sol Restaurant (just down the hill from the villa) was amazing. I have never seen a sunset so beautiful! Don and Babe were very nice, always willing to help when we had questions. We can't wait to go back and stay here! Thank you for an amazing week. Wow. My husband and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at Casa de Serenidad, having only planned to stay 7 days and it was fantastic. We travel quite a bit and I pride myself on finding great places to stay within a reasonable budget; in all the years and places we have stayed, this takes them all. The view is jaw-dropping. The sound of the surf will permeate your soul. Only the greenest of jungle will invade your privacy. You will have amenities you didn't know you wanted: a fully equipped gym with a massage table, a library of paperbacks, saunas and pools if you don't want to walk to the private beach and snorkel or kayak. And the best part of all are Don and Babe, ex-pats who have their surroundings dialed and are always available to help book any adventure you can think of! I highly recommend a scuba diving experience if you have never tried it. Horseback riding at their ranch (if you can drag yourself away from the sea) was great..beautiful animals and lovely countryside, complete with a river to refresh in afterwards. I could go on and on... As far as Flamingo Beach itself, it was by far the nicest of beaches we saw while we were there. Upscale and friendly,the beach itself was white sand, accessible, uncrowded and not populated by hawkers, unlike Conchal down the coast a ways. Or Hermosa, which has one path for access. Book this place, you will not be disappointed. We are so grateful Don and his lovely wife decided to put this rental on vrbo. We will be back! Lori and Ross Lowis

We absolutely loved our stay at the appropriately named 'Casa de Serenidad'. Don and Babe are great hosts and ambassadors to a wonderful country. The apartment (Villa Vista del Pacifico) was perfect, with gorgeous views out over the bay. The patio is a great place to take in a sunrise while enjoying the great Costa Rican coffee. Playa Flamingo is an easy to get to, happening area, and this is the place to stay...for couples or families. Highly recommended!

As a solo traveler, I can highly recommend CASA DE SERENIDAD. I stayed for two weeks and it was one of the best times I've had in Costa Rica. Don and Babe are amazing hosts with huge hearts. Their staff is second to none! The villa was just perfect. Rather you come alone or with others, CASA DE SERENIDAD is a perfect place to relax and unwind. You have everything you need - gym, sauna, pool... AND with the most beautiful view in Play Flamingo you may never want to leave! Thank you Babe and Don for a terrific two weeks in Costa Rica. We had the pleasure to vacation at Casa De Serenidad this past September 3-10 2009. It a wonderful experience that we treasure. We stayed in the Villa Vista del Pacifico, which is one of the many villas. It was beautiful and so spacious. The island theme lets you know you are in Costa Rica. The view of Flamingo Beach is breathtaking. At night you go to sleep with the sound of the ocean just outside. Don and Babe are very gracious hosts and their staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful with everything. My husband's dream while there was to catch a marlin. Babe helped us to locate a charter boat and he did catch his 350 lb. marlin!! I highly recommend you visit Casa De Serenidad for a vacation to remember!!! Perry & Mary Jo Coaker

It's been about two months since my wife and I spent a week at the Casa, and I asked myself this morning- did that really happen? Feels like a dream sometimes! We stayed with Babe and Don over the summer and were constantly surprised by the outstanding hospitality and amenties. The hammock/pool was fantastic - I actually read an entire book that week (almost never happens!). The beaches on Playa Flamingo were beautiful - nice trees for shade, quiet, great waves to play in. Definitely recommend renting a car to get around. The Casa is up on the hill and you don't want to be walking that every day. Playa Flamingo has a couple of nice restaurants, and Babe directed us to a fresh fish stand near Brasilito so we grilled out a few times during the week. The car is also great for checking out some other beaches along the cost. We also drove back towards Liberia for a day to go to Rincon for a full day of zip lines through the jungle, hiking, and tubing along the river. (This was a great adventure - highly recommended.) And what made the whole week memorable was having such a comfortable place to call home every night and morning. The pictures in the description here don't do the place justice. I spent hours and hours searching for the "right" place - this was it. Most importantly, Babe and Don are good people.

Paradise Found!

As someone wrote in the guest book at the villa " It's like staying in an actors home when the actor is away." Words and pictures cannot possibly describe the experience of this paradise found. If this villa is available and you don't rent it, the loss, sadly, will be yours. Even though I am back at work in my office typing this review, I can close my eyes and I am back in Costa Rica, swaying with the gentle breeze in the hammock above the wading pool gazing out at the magnificent view, enjoying the company of my husband and an ice cold Pilsen. This is the perfect spot for exploring the Guanacaste coastline. The beaches are beyond beautiful, rivaling most in Hawaii and the carribean. The Ticos are some of the warmest, most genuine people you will ever meet: a small wave and an "hola!" will be returned with the biggest smile and wave right back at you! Don't miss out on the small local "sodas". They have the best food! The Castillo, The Shack, and the 2 small soda's on the square in Brasillito are fantastic local dining experiences for just a small amount of money. Babe will be glad to suggest other options, and Don will help deck you out with all the gear you need for a fantastic beach experience. If you want a romantic sunset cruise by a local fisherman, go to the soda in Brasillito on the square run by the cook from France (incredible food, by the way!) and talk to Jovan. His friend, Gallo, is an extremely friendly local fisherman. He took us on the most incredible 3 hour journey, sharing small caves and fishing spots he has probably frequented since he was a young boy. If you are fortunate enough to visit this country and stay with Babe and Don, you will experience the vacation of your life. Thank you Babe, thank you Don, for sharing your paradise found with us. We hope to return someday, and stay much longer than our short one week. Vaya con Dios, mi amigos, y Pura Vida!

Where should i start? I was only planning on staying 3 weeks and it ended up a month! The location was perfect! I had easy access to the beach, snorkeling, great restaurants, deep sea fishing, canopy and zip line tours, golf courses, hikes, and some of the best surfing in costa rica. I stayed in the "Villa Vista Del Pacifico" apartment and it was INCREDIBLE! The owners, Don and Babe were wonderful in every possible way. I felt like I had another set of parents since i went to costa rica on solo. And on anything you want to do, Babe is very informative. So that's helpful when you're new to an area. But waking up to the ocean waves, the spectacular views, crabs, lizards, monkeys, you feel like you're on a real vacation! Just being there a month, I can't even explain all of the little things that make this apartment one of the best places to stay in the Guanacastle area! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Casa de Serindad is a special place. It is the most enjoyable and beautiful place we have stayed through our travels. The lovely flat is equipped with everything you need. There is a gorgeous view overlooking Flamingo Bay. The sounds of the ocean and star shows at night provide you with a wonderful experience. Our stay was completed by the hospitality of Don and Babe the delightful couple who own Casa de Seinadad We felt a vacation of a lifetime.

Being in the hospitality business myself, I am a staunch critic. The beautiful place Babe and Don have is beyond perfect. My husband and I spent a week at Casa de Serenidad and could not believe what a spectacular place it was. The photos online really do not do it justice. It is breathtaking. The villa is beautifully maintained and the property offers all the luxuries you could possibly want and more. We never wanted to leave. We agreed that it was by far the most beautiful place we have ever been. It is the perfect place to relax--quiet, with a little private beach below and just a short walk into a sleepy beach town. Don and Babe were wonderful hosts, as were their very cute little dogs. We hope to be back soon!

Once in a while you come across a situation where reality far exceeds your expectation. Well, that was what we found when we arrived at Casa de Serenidad. What a wonderful place to relax, unwind and renew the soul. We loved it at Casa de Serenidad with Don and Babe.It lives up to it's name. It's better than a home away from home.Don and Babe has a way of making you feel welcome and special. While you are here take time to visit the ranch where you can ride horses, zipline and swim. Don and Babe are the best hosts in town, they are a easy going couple, friendly, giving, accommodating and down to earth. They are the “crème de la crème “. They are such wonderful people, that it is a pleasure to stay in their place. There are all the things you need such as, a workout gym complete w/ treadmills, hot and dry sauna, swimming pool, barbeque area and a pleasant trail down to the beach! You could not ask for more. And if you are lucky, while you are around you might get invited to one of their many parties at their beautiful home or at their Ranch where you can horse back ride, do the zip line, a swim in the river or just sit and relax in a hammock by the river. We found Casa de Serenidad to be the perfect retreat from our stressful jobs - an oasis of calm surrounded by unmistakable beauty. Babe and Don were gracious hosts who ensured that our stay was as relaxing and pleasant as possible and in fact, everything we needed was available to us. The white sand beach at Flamingo was the nicest of any that we visited in Costa Rica and the warm ocean water was rejuvenating. Since being costarican, I have stayed in a lot of different places in the country.Casa Serenidad has surpassed all my expectations! The view is absolutely breathtaking, the villa is beautiful, comfortable and has everything you might need and more. Since being costarican, I have stayed in a lot of different places in the country. Casa Serenidad has surpassed all my expectations! The view is absolutely breathtaking, the villa is beautiful, comfortable and has everything you might need and more. It is a very quiet and relaxing place with the sound of the waves right at your window. But the best part are Don and Babe. They made us feel right at home, very easy going and very special. Casa De Serenidad is the best value for the location, view and overall Costa Rican relaxation experience. This villa is so unique and well appointed that one would be hard pressed to find a complaint. Don and Babe were extremely pleasant and have the pride of ownership and hospitality that makes you feel like you are at home away from home. The view from the villa is breathtaking and the sound of the ocean at night puts you to sleep like a baby! Looking for a special place for your vacations? you're at the right spot! The owners make you feel like home and they're always ready to inform you on great things to do in Costa Rica. I was lucky enough to stay at Don and Babe's on two separate occasions. Each time they greeted me with warmth and made me feel at home. Beyond that, the ambiance of the accommodations are incredibly beautiful with unparalleled views and stylish and comfortable furnishings. It's not only more than worth the cost, you won't find anything better in the area!

I have traveled and stayed at quite a few places in Central America, not to mention the world, and I can say without a doubt: THIS is the MOST WONDERFUL ! I guarantee you will not find a more charming, beautiful and hospitable experience. I know this sounds like an ad...but, if you make a point to try this place and meet these wonderful people, the YOU too will want to write your own "ad" here !!

We have rented multiple times in this area of Costa Rica and we found this property to be one of the best. The solitude, ocean views, accommodations, proximity to stores and services and, more importantly, the hosts were simply the best. The view is incredible! It is a quiet neighborhood with beautiful surroundings. The rental is gorgeous. We stayed in a spacious one bedroom with a kitchen and living room. It was immaculate and decorated with refined taste. The gym, rooftop pool and ocean view really put this over the top. Don and Babe were great and really put the home- style touch on the whole experience! In my two years of travel in Costa Rica, this was the most outstanding property I have stayed in!! Thank you! I have had the pleasure of staying at this property and I have to say that it is an incredible place to stay. The view is magnificent. You have the waves crashing on shore just beneath where you are standing when you on the balcony outside the villa. There are no walls to spoile your view, just windows to give you the wonderful panaramic view that is breathtaking. The furnishings are first class and complete. You have everything that you would need to enjoy your stay. The pool above the villa is a wading pool with 2 hammocks positioned in the pool so that you are partially in the water while enjoying the ocean breeze. There is also a TV above the pool if you have the urge to watch TV while in the pool. I did not turn on the TV, I just read and slept and enjoyed the spectacular view. The villa is located close to the village of Flamingo and also in close proximity to Flamingo Beach. This property is worth the stay even without all the ammenitys. The view alone and the sound of the ocean are worth the stay. The owners are very gracious and accomadating. All in all, I give this property an A+. Not one negative.
