We stayed at Happy House with three kids (ages 6, 9, and 12). The apartment is large and close to public transportation (as well as within walking distance from the Vatican). Paulo and Adriana were incredibly welcoming and helpful during our entire stay. They were great about giving advice for being in Rome with kids. The apartment was clean and we had a fabulous stay there. The apartment is close to a supermarket, the metro, a cafe, and restaurants. We would stay at Happy House again in an instant if we were going back to Rome. Highly recommended.

My husband and I were fortunate to stay at Happy House for six weeks this fall. We can honestly say that it was our best vacation ever. The apartment was spacious and comfortable and within only a few days we felt like we were home. What made our stay in Rome more than we ever expected was the gracious attention and generosity of Adriana and Paolo. They helped us quickly get acclimated to the neighborhood, the transportation systems and everything we would need to make us comfortable in Rome. The location of the apartment is within walking distance to bus, metro, groceries, laundry, a great cafe for our morning cappuccini and so much more. We were a 25-30 minute leisurely walk to the Vatican. We highly recommend Happy House and hope to return in the not to distant future. We totally enjoyed our stay here.

We have had a month of enjoying Rome while staying at Happy House. I agree with all the other reviews about the apartment, its location, public transport and facilities. What distinguishes this apartment are the owners. Paolo and Adriana help make this place special with their warm welcome, orientation tour and suggestions for living like a local. Our pleasure at Happy House is not only being tourists in this great city but also just being part of this very italian neighbourhood with it's local shops, coffee bars, grocery stores and the Mercato Trianfali. We wanted a travel experience that connected us to people not just places. This location has been great. We will definitely be back again.

My family and I have had the good fortune of staying at Happy House for slightly more than six months; September - November 2010 and February - April 2011. The property is well maintained, is exactly as described and pictured on the vbro site, and is conveniently located. I would highly recommend the apartment to others. The most important aspect of the rental, however, is the genuineness of the owners. Adriana and Paolo are very responsive and generous with their time and attention. All of us were reassured to know that Adriana and Paolo were available if we needed them. In addition, Paolo continually loaned us movies for entertainment and Adriana shared secrets for shopping and cooking. Both are very giving and kind and we are thankful to have met them. Our time at Happy House is a source of joy.

For our family of five this apartment was spacious and had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay, because of how it has been furnished and arranged you feel you are staying in a real Rome home. Adriana and Paolo are very helpful in answering questons and taking you around the area once you arrive to show you all the things that the area has and where to get various public transport. It is convenient for buses, trains and the metro – of which the buses probably are the best to get around, once you have worked everything out. We loved Rome and the apartment and hope sometime to return to do all the things that we did not have time for in our ten day stay.

We stayed at "Happy House" for a few days in July 2010. We had read reviews before hand and were encouraged by the return visitors, and after our stay we would have no hesitation in staying again. The apartment was very clean and spacious, well laid out for a family of two adults and three children (girls 16 and 14 and boy 12). We met Paolo who was very friendly and helpful on our arrival and as we departed. The positioning of the apartment is good, close to trains and buses and within walking distance of the Vatican.

We just returned from a 6 day stay at the Happy House. My husband and my 16 year old son had a wonderful time! Paolo and Adriana arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport which was great. Once we arrived at the apartment they were there to meet us and show us around to include taking us in their car for a drive around the area so they could point out where the market was, the local restuarants etc. The apartment itself is in a quiet area yet within walking distance of the metro as well as markets, cafes, bakeries, etc. Everything was clean and neat. The airconditioning was great and the washing machine came in very handy. Paolo and Adriana were also very helpful in my planning. Answering any question i might have concerning Rome, or airlines, trains, etc. I highly recommend this property and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We very much enjoyed our brief week in Rome, and this beautiful apartment made it even better. The location was ideal, with fairly easy access to public transport, and many nearby (and delicious) restaurants. Be sure to ask about the nearby gelateria; we will be back if for no other reason than for the gelato. Paolo and Adriana were incredibly hospitable and more than willing to help with any issue that arose. The apartment was clean and easily lived up to the information provided. Whenever we come back to Rome, we will be staying here.

We stayed at Happy House for 6 days in May. This was our first trip to Italy and the Spellanzons were very gracious hosts! Paolo met us at the apartment, told us all about the local area and drove us around to get us oriented. He even helped me find an electronics store to buy an adapter! The apartment was very clean and wonderfully decorated. It is on a dead-end street so there is no traffic noise. Transportation is very easy with bus and metro stations nearby. The Vatican is also a very easy walk also (about 10-15 minutes). If we ever go back to Rome, we will not hesitate to stay here again!

We really enjoyed our 2 week stay at Happy House. Paolo and Adriana are wonderful hosts. We arrived on May 1st which is a holiday in Italy, our hosts had picked up food so we would have something for lunch and breakfast the next morning, very thoughtful. The apartment was very comfortable, well located, easy access to everywhere. Supermarket, nice restaurants & coffee shop around the corner. The food, the wine, the coffee, the Romans...everything was just lovely. Looking forward to returning to Rome to see Paolo & Adriana and will definitely rent their apartment on Via Arnobio!!!

My partner and I spent six nights in the Happy House in April, 2010. We were thrilled with these accommodations, and with the landlords, Adriana and Paolo. We arrived at 8 p.m. on the first night, and Adriana was there to get us settled in. At 9 a.m. the next morning. they drove us around the neighborhood, pointing out shops, markets, stores, bus stops, all the things one needs to know when moving into a new neighborhood. Not many landlords would do that. We enjoyed the space, 3 bedrooms, living room, kichen, etc. here. With jet lag, you sometimes have different sleeping patterns from your partner so one could be up and moving around, while the other slept. Next, we loved the convenience of the neighborhood, so close to the Vatican--20 minutes walk--close to the Metro (300 yards) and buses right outside our door. If we return to Rome (we will, we tossed three coins in the Trevi Fountain), we will most definitely stay here. Five star, without doubt. I am writing about the trip on my website: www.FindingLoveAfter50.com. Click on the home page and scroll down to the link about the articles. Also, I have a book at www.smashwords.com, an ebook library, titled, "Italy: 23 Days by Train." Go to the smashwords website and search on Tom Blake

We stayed there 2 years ago and I have fond memories or this condo. So close to the vatican and the metro which can take you anywhere you want to go or do. Close to the best pizza resturant , just ask the locals. The condo owner was the best and he won;t do you wrong. He was so helpful . Watch out for his driving though.LOL It you want something close to attractions and shopping this place is for you.

Having just returned from buying 3 chocolate Cornetti at the local bakery for breakfast, I realized I had not updated our 2005 comment. Since 2005 we have stayed at Villa Arnobio evey year but one. So, the update: The apartment has improved with the addition of air conditioning, new windows and internet connection. What has not changed is the ambiance of this supeerb location and especially the attention to the comfort of guests extended by Adriana and Paolo. Read the comments and the praise given to these two great people and our friends. None of them are exagerations. If you are looking for a comfortable apartment in a great location with exceptional hospitality, you need look no further. As we said in our 2005 comment, should you like to contact us directly, do not hesitate. We are at 918-584-0881, my law office. If I am not there, just leave a message and I will return the call. We just returned from a six night stay in Casa Adriana. We were there from Sept 25 thru Oct 1, 2008. Paolo and Adriana were great. We were in contact from the time we made our reservation until shortly before our arrival. Paolo made us a taxi reservation from the airport which was great. I highly recommend this. We arrived late at night but Adriana and Paolo gave us a tour of the home and the area and Paolo even drove us to a restaurant because we were starving. The apartment is wonderful. You feel like you are a resident of Rome while there. The location is great also, close to all public transportation. We ate in the recommended nearby restaurants which the locals use. That was also a great experience. After touring all day we would relax on the balcony with a bottle of Italian wine. I can't say enough good things about Paolo, Adriana and the apartment. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again.

This apartment was perfect for my group of 4 women (including a teenager and my 80+ years old grandmother. We had plenty of space in the apartment and we were very comfortable. And we loved the location!!!! It was so much fun to walk to the grocery store and neighborhood restaurants. It was great to have the coffee shop on the corner. The people were so nice to us! It did not matter that we only speak English. Adriana and Paolo are wonderful people. They are so very helpful. I hope to stay in their apartment again some time. This is so much better than a hotel. (Our stay was in July - but I just now remembered to write this comment.)

To anyone thinking of renting this apartment, you will NOT be disappointed. Recently, my wife and I came to Rome with my wife's parents and decided to rent Adriana's beautiful apartment. We had a wonderful stay and both Adriana and Paolo are excellent hosts. They make every effort to help you with anything you need. They are two very kind people who give you much better service than any hotel ever would. The apartment itself is perfect for four or five people. It is situated away from the tourists but close enough to the metro station and buses to help you get anywhere. You really feel like you are living in the true Roma while living there. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone and if you're lucky enough to get to know Adriana and Paolo, it is a bonus. We will definitely be back!

Dear Adriana, Just to let you know that my family and I very much enjoyed your apartment during our recent one week stay. We landed in Rome on a rainy day. But we were met by the Taxi service that you arranged for us as expected. The driver was very courteous provided convenient service. I would recommend this service highly. The orientation drive around the apartment that you provided shortly after our arrival was immensely helpful in getting us oriented. After that drive, we were pretty clear on where to go for supermarkets etc. We found location of the apartment to be very convenient. We particularly enjoyed walking to the market each morning and buying the day's supply of fruits, bread and cold cuts. The sea food restaurant that you recommend turned out to be one of our favorite eateries in Rome. We went there twice for dinner. I enjoyed talking to the restaurant owner about food and wines of Sardinia. Your reservation for Vatican Museum worked out fine and we were able to get into the museum without any waiting. After walking all day in Rome, we were happy to come back to your apartment each day. All facilities of the appartment worked well and we had plenty of space (for four people) to relax. We felt very safe and comfortable at your appartment during our stay. Thanks for all your help and hospitality durng our stay in Rome. I would be happy to recommend you and your apartment to anyone who might be considering renting the apartment. With fond memories. Myung B. Lee New York, NY

The Apt was beautiful and Adrianna was very helpful. Our plane was late, so when we got to the Apt at 10:30 at night. She and her husband Paul were there and fixed us a simple dinner. The restaurants she recommended all had great food. It was fun being in a Rome neighborhood where real people live rather than staying in the tourist traps. We would recommend this Apt to all of our freinds.

This is a fantastic apartment! It is very spacious, comfortable, and beautiful. The location is equally good. Access to the bus is literally just a few steps around the corner. Adriana was very helpful in arranging airport pickups as well as setting up transportation for our family's visit to Castel di Sangro to see relatives. The restaurants in the area are good, and the other places to eat and snack are good, too. Sitting on the balcony in the late afternoon with a bottle of wine became one of our favorite daily activities. There is no better way to unwind after a full day of siteseeing.

It's difficult to add comments that haven't already been said about such a nice apartment in a terrific area and with the added bonus of such hospitable hosts as Adriana, Paolo and Massimo! Our stay at Casa Adriana was excellent. The accommodations were everything we expected and more. Adriana goes out of her way to be gracious and helpful with booking, directions recommendations, and ensuring that your stay in pleasant. We shopped in the markets and had a delicious meal at Caselli's, upon Adriana's recommendation. The neighborhood is convenient to the sights, within walking distance to the Vatican, and we felt very safe even with the disadvantage of not speaking Italian. We highly recommend Casa Adriana and hope to return soon!

We spent a lovely week at this very comfortable apartment. Adriana and Paulo's are the perfect hosts and go out of their way to make sure their guests are comfortable. They showed us where we could find the supermarket (two in walking distance), told us about the street markets (also two in walking distance) where to catch the bus, the best local restaurants ... basically everything we needed for a perfect stay. The apartment gives a great Roman experience with all the comforts of home. We liked to have a cafe and a conetto at the little place on the corner in the morning, and sometimes we would go back in the evening for a lovely glass of wine. We also liked the Sardinian restaurant so much that we went back twice - almost unheard of for us. The big market at the bottom of the hill has a fabulous selection of fruits and vegetables. We were there in the summer and the Centro Storico in Rome was packed and hot. It was so nice to escape the crowds at the end of the day and head back to our quiet little neighborhood. I highly recommend this place. One word of caution - if you are there in the summer, don't run the air conditioning too much because it is very expensive. Thank you to Adriana and Paulo for being such wonderful hosts. We hope to return again some day!!

We stayed in the apartment and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was close to everything we needed and had plenty of room for 5 adults. Advise to anyone wanting to do the Vatican tour is to reserve on-line before you go. You avoid all lines & enter in the rear for group tours. Adrianna recommended Nuraghe Sardo and was the perfect restaurant to end our stay and is two blocks from the apartment.

We too found the pizzeria very handy and only wish we hadn't left going to the restaurant until or last evening as we would have loved to have gone again!Adriana and her husband Paolo were very helpful, showing us the local amenities and even giving us a lift to the car hire office when we were leaving. Excellent apartment, location, and hosts. ***** Notes for prospective Rome visitors: * Buy a week's ticket for train/bus from the newsagent just down the road. Only 16 euros each!! * Walk around the local area to get your bearings. Bus/train/metro stations are close. * Go uphill to train station behind square to take train to Trastavere for Sunday market -- massive! * Take the bus too -- it's much easier than it may seem. Get a map of routes. * Be positive on zebra crossings -- you have to make the first move. Rome's MUCH better than Paris for civilised drivers. * Restaurant just in front on main road is good, with good English too. * Restaurants charge a 'cover charge' per person. This is normal. Ask for bread, which is usually included (but not always offered). * Have lots of ice cream and coffee. Small backstreet places are much cheaper than main squares. 'Old Bridge' Gelataria near Vatican is one of the best. * Ignore the graffiti everywhere. It does NOT signal scary places. We saw NO threatening people anywhere. * Keep things safe from pickpockets. We met none but there's lots of comments about these. * Go see at least Forum, Colosseum, Borghese, Trastavere area (inc Sun market), Trevi, Vatican. * We walked the beginning of the Appia Antica -- no pavements, fast traffic, nothing to see. Maybe more further down? * Many things close for 2+ hrs for lunch. * Walk lots and explore. Rome's not that big. Don't expect large shops. This is a part of the charm! * Accept Adriana's kind offer of getting Vatican museum tickets - the queues are massive. Overall, very many thanks to Adriana and Paolo. We felt wonderfully welcomed and they were so helpful in making our stay a brilliant success. David, Eleri, Geraint and Heledd. Aug'05.

My family had the opportunity to stay in this apartment in March 2004. It was large, clean and had all the facilities we needed. With two teenagers, the kitchen came in very handy. Every afternoon around five comeone in the apartment above treated us to a high quality piano recital which helped revive our energies after hours of sightseeing. The comfort of the apartment greatly added to our trip and we would be delighted to stay there again.

We spent a week in March, 2005, in the Via Arnobio apartment which is located in a safe residential neighborhood. It was very home-like with some older family pieces of furniture. There are a workable kitchen, a good shower, and comfortable beds. It was clean and orderly and stocked with useful guides to the city and environs. The weather was wet and chilly during the first half of our stay and we always awoke to and returned to at day’s end, a blissfully warm apartment. Of use to us in the neighborhood were restaurants, a grocery store, wine bar, coffee places, a natural foods store, and a shop with phones and internet access. As we frequented some of these places over our short week, we found the community very pleasant. The Via Arnobio area gave access to the places we had come to see and experience without being in the midst of them, allowing us yet another view of Rome.We would enjoy staying there again, the next time taking some walks in the nearby natural park, visiting the area markets and trying more restaurants. As well, the bus service is good, the train very close, and the Metro just down the hill (by bus or walking). With hesitation, we mention the delicious home-made lemon cake sitting on the kitchen counter on our arrival, lest the very thoughtful and accommodating owner be obligated to always furnish one (though we suspect she does).

We have just completed another two weeks at Adriana and Paolo's apartment on Via Arnobio. Added to our previous stays that totals eight weeks, 56 days, we have stayed at Via Arnobio since 2002. Therefore, it would be redundant to say we love the apartment, but I will be redundant - We love the apartment! Cool marble floors, a tidy kitchen (just the right size for an occassional meal) a spacious bathroom and a firm bed that Adriana says is family. The location is perfect. 200 feet to bus # 990, 991 or 913 which can quickly take you to many places you will want to see or to a connection to get you there. The Metro is just a 10 minute walk and the Appiano train station just a 5 minute walk. You can make it to the door of the Vatican museum in 15 minutes. Great food, from superb pizza at Pizza Art to a Michelin 2 star 4 knife and fork restaurant (La Pergola at the Cavaleri Hilton) are within easy reach. If you are into outdoor markets, the astonishing Andria Doria outdoor market is an easy 15 min. walk but if you don't want to go that far, at the top of the Via Arnobio steps is a open air market that sells the best vegies and a meat market is right there. Best of all are Adriana and Paolo. Kind, generous, helpful are just some of the adjectives we use and after 56 days we sincerely add the adjective, friends. I'm running out of space, so feel free to call me or Katie and we will tell you even more.

Two friends and I stayed in Adriana's apartment in March 2004. The apartment was very large and suited our needs easily. The restroom was large for European standards. The subway was within walking distance - and we easily made our way around Rome. The Vatican was withing walking distance and we were able to see the Pope do a Beautification at Mass. The lines to the Museum are very long - please arrive an hour before opening time! There were many wonderful restaurants just moments away - as were grociers. The apartment is on a dead end street - being from Texas it was a little noisy in comparison to home. We felt very secure in this section of town. Everyone was very friendly and Adriana welcomed us and answered all questions we had. The apartment had guide books and suggested tours. While the walls were thin - we enjoyed wonderful music via piano every evening from a neighbor. We could not have asked for a nicer hostess or for a better location. Thanks Adriann.
