Pets accepted: most pets can be accommodated. Are greatest concern is noise. Dogs who bark continuously must not be left unattended as this is disruptive to our other guests. Please inquire.

Five apartments that can be rented separately or together

The Maple (1+1) do to the hillside construction of our building. The Maple is a ground floor apartment however, it's elevated with balcony and tree top views. The rear patio however it ground floor off our East Garden. Both Patios are fully furnished for lounging dining or barbeque. The elegant sleigh bed in the bedroom is fitted with a SEALY POSTUREPEDIC Pillow Top mattress. The light and breezes flow through this open space from large windows on either side.

The Pepper (1+1)
This apartment spans the full front of the building; has an exclusive balcony that does the same. Great light in every room steals through the many windows that peer out onto views of Echo Park (to the west) & Elysian Park (to the east) hills.

The Palm (1+1)
Due to the recent and extensive remodeling to the kitchen of this apartment, the Palm has become the favorite of large parties who care to share a meal or 2 and has even seen a family of 8 for Thanks Giving dinner! Solid slate floor, in and under cabinet lighting, Commercial grade faucet with spray or spout settings, and large built-in desk with high back leather office chair are just some of the features that make this apartment so special. Sage (2+2)
Front ground floor unit of our 5-plex boasts over 1,200 sq' of interior living space. The center island in the kitchen serves as a dining table with seating for up to 5. Decorating is dramatic and beautiful generating a feeling that is elegant yet comfortable from the moment you step through the front door. Great light in every room steals through the many windows that pear out onto our many gardens. Both the living space and private patio create a soothing environment that makes all feel welcome.

The Mint (1 with Den + 2)
Ground level apartment in a large triplex next door to Baxter 5 features some different amenities: Concrete floors, high ceilings and surrounding walls that are 12 inches thick. This apartment stays cool even in the hottest of summers. Whisper quiet central heating unit to keep every room comfortable through out the year.

You may want to rent just one apartment, or you may be traveling with others and need to rent more. If available, all units can be rented concurrently. Each unit has its' own private front and rear entry, private laundry, parking space, air conditioning, and a unique charm which is sure to welcome you on your trip to Los Angeles.

Why the Owner Chose Los Angeles

I originally purchased the building to convert to condos in 2005...in the processes of the conversion, I fell in the love with the building and it's location. Further north in Echo Park, between Wilderness Preserve (Elysian Park) and FIX Cafe.
Renting the placed furnished helps cover the high costs. The hope to retire here.

Freelance Set Painter by trade in the film industry. I used to work at all the studios. I purchased my first home in Echo Park Canyon due to it's convenience to everything. Echo Park is the first Suburb of Downtown LA. It's an extremely well designed community. This is why it was voted '2008 - Best Neighborhood in the USA' by the APA (American Planning Association). The only community in the state of California that rated. Its proximity to the Elysian Park (wilderness preserve) on one end Echo Lake/Park on the other. The 2 and 5 freeways to the North, 101 and 110 to the South. So many places to walk to and nice neighbors that greet you along the way.

    • 1549 Baxter is a very well managed and welcoming home from home in LA. Michelle and Kathleen do a great job maintaining the place and dealing with everyday concerns. Above all, I love the location. Up in the canyon above Echo Park, it is one of LA's greatest hidden locations: beautiful walks, nice neighbors, great little cafes and shops, close to Hollywood and Downtown.
