COMPLETELY RENOVATED top to bottom in 2010. (Oops, note to self - take new photos!). Much better than when we bought it new in 1980. Granite countertops, all new appliances, cabinets, fixtures, carpeting, deck, heat pump, etc, etc, VERY NICE. A lovely and well-equipped 3-story townhome just south of the Pentagon, at the northern edge of Alexandria, 4.5 miles from the Lincoln Memorial. Best VRBO value in the area that sleeps 6 and has two full baths (plus two half baths)! Our cost less than you'd pay for two boring rooms at the nearby Best Western motel. Rentals less than 5 days only within a month of the date Mar through Sep because we're usually completely booked by full-week clients and give them preference. More flexibility November through February.
NOT walking distance to MetroRail, but we're much less than any two-bath places close to MetroRail. Accommodations really near Metrorail are nice, but this is a great tradeoff for the extra space and lower cost. You can be parked in 15 minutes close to the National Mall, for less than $20. That's about what 4 people would spend on Metrorail each day. Yes it's a stretch to say you can get to DC in 5 min, because you'd have to make two traffic signals, have light traffic, and you'd just be entering the District. However, in light traffic it's routinely about 10 minutes to the Lincoln Memorial. Or you can bus to/from the Pentagon Metrorail station in 16 minutes during rush hours, or drive/cab in less than 10 minutes to two Metrorail stops.
Quiet, friendly little 37 unit community. Many of the residents have been in our home for parties. 1,600 square feet, so plenty of room to relax, with a living room, basement den, and elevated deck. One master bedroom with king bed and ensuite bath and another master-size bedroom created by taking out a wall between two small bedrooms, which has a queen bed and a full bath 7 ft from the bedroom door. Queen sleeper couch in the basement den with 1/2 bath, which is a fairly private sleeping space because of the separate living room on the main floor. Another 1/2 bath on the main floor. We stay a month in spring and fall, so it's well-maintained and very clean. Two parking permits, with a permanently reserved spot at the front door and another "floating" spot in an unreserved space.
Dozens of good restaurants of nearly every type within 1-2 miles, with a book containing recommendations for the best. Large supermarket less than a mile, Harris Teeter 1 1/2 miles,
Whole Foods 2 miles, Trader Joes 3 miles. Major shopping at the Pentagon City Mall just 2.5 mi. Detailed maps in the "renters basket" in the living room. Cable TV, broadband and WI-FI.

Rate Details (In US Dollars)
Base rates $800/week Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb, $1000 October, $1350 Thanksgiving/Christmas.
$1,350/wk High Season Mar-Sep.
Add $150 Cleaning and 12% taxes to above rates.
Reservation deposit about 40%, Remaining balance two weeks before arrival.
Paypal is great for you and us, and we'll also take personal checks.
Paypal allows you to use credit cards or your checking account.
March-September stays less than 5 days unusual because we're usually fully booked
by full-week clients.

Photo coming, just a little lazy. We're both retired from the Air Force, with 62 years combined service, very happy in Hawaii. You'll see many Hawaiian decorating touches in our townhouse, which we purchased for our first assignment to the Pentagon. Have hundreds of lifelong friends in the area. We revel in our two months of visits there each year, with parties and more fun than humans should endure. Courtesy of our wonderful country we've experienced much of the world, and those experiences make us certain that you'll love visiting our country's capitol area, possibly the most interesting in the world.

Our family stayed in this townhome from 7/24/10-7/30/10. It was exactly as we had hoped - extremely clean, quiet & fully-equipped. The five of us had plenty of room to relax & unwind after busy days exploring Washington DC. It was quick & easy to get to a Metro station each day. We have already recommended this rental to some friends who are planning a trip to DC next spring.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful town home for 10 days. The house is very large with plenty of room to spread out. Every single detail was thought of! It is very nicely decorated and has all of the furnishings one would need for a short or long stay. If you are looking for the perfect place to stay near the nations capitol - this is the spot! It was very easy to get to DC (only a few minutes away) and there is great public transportation nearby. We travel full time around the country, and this home was by far one of our favorites that we have stayed in!
