Chickadee Cottage is located on four rural acres in the "Quiet Corner" of Northeastern Connecticut just ten minutes from Putnam, New England's center for antiques. This Non-Smoking Cottage resides in a peaceful and serene setting, and is bordered by miles of state walking trails and permanently open land.

The "Carriage House" is ideal for corporate, short-term furnished rental, with easy access to Route 395. This new & spacious hideaway is above another cottage unit with a separate entrance and, a canopied double bed, corner kitchen, a big farm table, as well as a sitting area with a sofabed and a gas-log woodstove.

We also have a new addition the "Lower Nest," this cottage is similar to our Carriage House, it has a fully equiped kitchen, a sitting area, a dining room table as well as a gas-log woodstove. This unit is ideal for families who are looking for a more spacious place than the Carriage House as it holds up to 5 people. Our lower nest is filled with rustic charm.

Connecticut's Quiet Corner is a rich tapestry of rolling hills and meadows, quaint antique, and specialty shops and scenic byways (Route 169, a nationally designated scenic road runs right through Pomfret and the Quiet Corner). The 30 mile "Rail Trail," a former railroad bed now a walking and mountain-biking trail, is adjacent to the bed and breakfast (B&B) and connects with five-miles of walking trails in the Connecticut Audubon Society's little-known 667-acre nature sanctuary.

Pomfret also boasts fine dining and an award-winning winery, where gourmet meals are served at the fireside tavern or outside in the wine garden. A journey to Pomfret and the Quiet Corner seems like a world away but is easily accessible from New York City (3 hours), Boston (1.25 hours), and Hartford and Providence (45 minutes), Worcester (35 minutes).
