Jackson cabin description
Log cabin in beautiful Alta Wyoming. The cabin is set in a row of houses which back up to large open land with perfect views of The Tetons. We are 4 miles from Driggs ID (great grocery store) and 35 miles from Jackson WY. Large deck with bocce court and badminton court. Step off the deck in winter onto the neighborhood cross-country ski trail (groomed) which meanders under the Tetons - or hike it in your snowshoes. Great view of Grand Targhee ski resort as well. Lots of flowers and aspen trees, small creek runs through the property. Fish on the Teton River 5 minutes away. Peaceful location, gorgeous views, just a short drive from the hustle bustle and fun of Jackson. Enjoy your stay on 'the quiet side of the Tetons!'
Cabin is cozy - queen bed downstairs with sliding door to living area and private bathroom with large soaking tub. Another large bathroom with 2-person shower downstairs. Up the spiral steps to the loft with 4 twin mattresses on the floor.
Walk to the darling Alta library and school playground just 5 minutes away. Great location for kids. Summer programs for kids at Grand Targhee.
The cabin is located one block off Ski Hill Road - the road that goes up to Grand Targhee for skiing, horseback riding, and concerts. One hour drive over the pass to ski in Jackson Hole. Cross country ski and snowshoe out the front door or on groomed trail in back yard.
Great kayaking on the Teton and Snake Rivers and mountain biking in the Big Hole Mountains. Fly-fishing at Leigh Creek, Teton River, and Henry's Fork. Small town of Driggs with cute restaurants, wine store, and shops is a three mile drive.
Jackson Hole (55 minute drive) is full of art galleries, shopping, museums, restaurants, float trips on the Snake, as well as cross-country and downhill skiing. Idaho Falls and Jackson airports are both 75 minute away. Yellowstone National Park is 100 miles north - enter at West Yellowstone. Island Park and Henry's Fork, an area of world famous fly fishing, is 40 minutes north.

We stayed at the cabin for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The cabin was clean and stocked with everything needed when we arrived. The view of the west side of the Tetons and surrounding countryside was amazing. The cabin was welcoming and so comfortable. We had our 4 year old granddaughter with us and never lacked for anything to do. There are so many books, games and toys for all ages that it would take a year to go through everything. We cooked our meals in the comfort of a very homelike setting, and spent an entire day of our stay on the deck and in the yard playing Bocce, a game we had never played but certainly enjoyed! I don't think there is any way the pictures of the place can ever do it justice. You walk in and feel amazed that you get to stay in such a wonderful home. Truly a vacation to remember for a lifetime. The Driggs grocery store is perfect for getting anything you need. A trip to Jackson and the Teton National Park is easily accomplished in a day. Another day takes you on a tour of the Idaho countryside. Just a beautiful place, with easy access to all the places we wanted to go. We wouldn't hesitate to book this cabin again for another trip to the Tetons.

We stayed at this charming cabin with the beautiful view of the Tetons for 4 nights. We came expecting spring skiing and got some fabulous powder instead! The location is perfect ......... halfway between Driggs and Targhee ski area. There is a Xcountry ski track and library right around the corner. The cabin is cozy with a wonderful decor. The kitchen is well equipped. We had a fabulous dinner in Driggs at Teton Thai. And, the creamery a couple doors down was still open at 10 pm because they were in the back making cheese ...... so we were able to get their ice cream for dessert. It was a magical place and we hated to leave!! We love the quiet side of the Tetons!

Perfect family get away
Perfect family get away
We discovered Driggs, while on our summer vacation. We travelled from Los Angeles to Helena, Montana. The Alta Bocce Cabin was the highlight of our trip! Close to Teton National Park, the Teton River, and numerous other outdoor activities. The pictures don't do this place justice. The view is phenomenal and the cabin is so beautiful. Truly a special place! The Hampson Family

Great cabin and location; some things to consider
We really liked the cabin and the location. I liked the Log Cabin decor. But the lighting in the bathrooms was not bright enough, and it was difficult to get in the large soaking tub - we needed a step. We did however like the double shower which was very roomy. The single mattresses on the floor were not comfortable for a couple over 50, so the cabin doesn't really work for two couples. It would be fine for a couple and their children. A curtain would be good for the sunrise up in the loft. We enjoyed our stay.

fantastic property and even better hosts
fantastic property and even better hosts
We loved our time in the Alta cabin and wish we could have stayed longer. The view to the east includes 2 sliding doors and all glass above it, and steps out onto a very large deck, so soaking in the views is automatic. The cabin is probably the best stocked and arranged of any villa we've stayed in - all the kitchenware and bathware you'll ever need, and very well cleaned as well. The fridge is enormous, the dishwasher is very quiet, and the electric stove works a treat. The sleeping was excellent too, although worth noting that if you use the loft bed the light will come in quite early in summer. In addition, the owners were extremely quick to respond to querying emails (wifi password, place for coffee, etc.), and handled a minor technical problem for us with high speed and a great customer focus, all with a bright positive attitude. The only minor knock we can think of is that the lawn mower started a little bit early for us one morning, which is not much of a complaint. Very highly recommended, we'd like to come back soon.

Owner response: Glad you had a good time. The light in the loft is the sun streaming through the upper windows with a magnificent Teton view! We have asked the lawn service to mow after 11 am in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

Without your cozy cabin with all the thoughtful amenities, our hiking adventure would have been way less than wonderful. You made our experience in Teton Valley absolutely fabulous. We had so much fun at your beautiful home playing bocce. Thank you for all your warm hospitality.

About the owner: We bought this cabin as a vacation get away for family and friends. Since then we've bought another little cabin 5 miles away which we also rent. Our extended family uses the cabin often, so the kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfy. Jim does real estate consulting and management for Jones Lang LaSalle, and Ginger teaches workshops on Mail Art. We love to hike and kayak and cook dinners for the family. We have two grown children who live in San Francisco and Oakland.
Why the Owner Chose Jackson:
This area of Idaho, Wyoming and Montana is just gorgeous. There are so many beautiful areas to visit - mountains, waterfalls, rivers, fields of wildflowers throughout the summer, great snow all winter - you will want to be outdoors every day. Late spring is the best time to see the animals with their new offspring, and October brings the spectacular golden 'quaking' leaves on the aspen trees.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The deck is huge, and the view is spectacular.
