Why the Owner Chose Hali'i Kai

The first time we visited the Halii Kai, we fell in love with the Ocean Club. From the moment we walked through the gate we both knew this was a place we would want to spend years at. The setting, atmosphere and people are all wonderful and easy to enjoy.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa

Villa 8A has a spectular view of the golf course all the way to the ocean, from the lanai and even from the kitchen. Some consider it to be the best location in the complex. Please see our guest comments and photos to see why you must stay here.

Owner's Map of Hali'i Kai

We just returned from a week's stay in 8A and are already looking forward to returning. The place was perfect for our family, we had everything we needed and everything was as described. We loved the pool, the view from the lanai and all the beautiful sunsets we experienced from both! The owners were very helpful and responsive to our questions/ We highly recommend this property.

We had a wonderful time starting in your beautiful condo. Highlights of our trip included snorkeling at Maunea Kea beach, boogie boarding at Hapunna beach, swiming in the ocean club pool, the Atlantic submarine, the drive to Akaka Falls, the Kohola Mountains, the the Place of Refuge. And of course the beautiful views from your lanai. Thanks for equipping your condo so well. It had everything we needed and more.

Oh magnanimous ones, we thank you deeply for allowing us to partake of the Hawaiian experience in your abode. We are slightly covetous of the previous guests who were able to stay in this commodious space for a month. However, the eightish days we were able to spend here were phenomenal. Long days at the beach, snorkeling, and enjoying the multi-hued sunsets. both on the top of the volcano and along the pleasant highways. The advent of the four-wheeled vehicle was most advantageous in finding secluded areas, such as the black sand beach on this side of the island and the southernmost point of the US. This was a most excellent venue for relaxing and rejuvenating vacation. Thank you again for your hospitality. Mahalo.

We write this review with mixed emotions: celebration over our month in 8A and sadness over leaving. We have felt at home from our first cup of coffee as we sat on the lanai watching golfers. This felling of being "at home" has continued as we made wonderful meals; sipped wine watching sunsets; enjoyed the pool and all the facilities at the Ocean Club; visited beautiful Hapuna, Mauna Kea, 69 mile, Haulalai beaches; swam with turtles; hiked up the cinder cone at Mauna Kea to view the sunsets and stargazed; played tennis and walked to our hearts content. We have 30 days of beautiful sunset photos - hard to pick the best. We went to Hawaiian Style Cafe in Waimea ( and come home with so many leftovers!); Huggos, Brow's Beach house for Rick's 62nd birthday and visited farmer's markets in both Kona and Waimea. Thank you both so much for your hospitality! After coming to Kohala for the past 5 years, this has been our best experience. P.S. Building 8 is definitely the best - we only wish we could stay here longer.

Although my husband and are frequent visitors to the Big Island, this was our first stay at the Halii Kai. From the first moment we stepped inside this luxurious condo, we knew we had found the perfect place to call home for a few weeks. This unit was by far the best place we have ever stayed in Hawaii. The kitchen has everything one could possibly need to cook a gourmet meal. The home was beautifully decorated, yet so comfortable. One of the most outstanding features is the view. From the kitchen you can watch for whales or view the sunset. The lanai provides the most spectacular views of the ocean, the mountains and the golf course. We had considered purchasing a unit at the Halii Kai but unfortunately none we toured could "hold a candle" to 8A. We have been forever spoiled! Thank you Teri Lou and Duke!!!

Teri and Duke - Thanks so much, it was perfect for the four of us - two 13 year olds and two adults. The girls had their own space and we had ours. We loved watching the sunset from the deck and the birds flying towards the Hilton for the night. We also ran from here to A-bay via the Hilton, about 5.2 miles round trip. Hope to stay here again in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay in 8A. The weather was perfect, the accommodations are very well equipped and we really enjoyed the Kohala coast experience. Thanks for arranging the humpback performances - their daily appearances were much appreciated. - Vancouver BC
