Escape to a Greek paradise in this beautiful vacation house built into the ancient volcanic rock on the world famous Greek island of Santorini. Situated in the village of Ia (Oia), this house is the ideal accommodation for an enjoyable vacation of tranquility and recreation. The sculpted rock architecture of this lovely house is unique and impressive, and it has been beautifully decorated with inspiration and care by its owner, Maria Economou, a Greek sculptor and painter.

This cave villa was constructed about 1000-2000 years ago in the traditional manner of the people of Santorini at this time. They were dug into the volcanic rock so as to be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I have artistically decorated it and also updated the villa to protect against humidity. It sleeps 4-5 people comfortably by using the roll out bed at night. The panoramic views from the patio are breathtaking! Enjoy lying on the mattress on the bench in the afternoon and evening and viewing the lights of the other cities on the top edge of the Caldera. In the evening gaze at the sparkling stars and moon in the dark sky. The house is like a love nest, small but unique and idyllic, about 60 m2 in size (you might want to convert this to square footage also). Every single hour of the day and night is magnificent from the romantic veranda of my little villa! I welcome you to my villa and the beautiful island of Santorini.

Details like the mosaic tile in the bathroom and the beautifully painted walls make this house an incredible place to stay on the picturesque island of Santorini. The house, located on the cliff side of the Caldera, provides modern amenities along with traditional charm and the private terrace gives a breathtaking panoramic view of the Volcano, the surrounding islands, the traditional hillside settlement of Oia village and the deep blue Aegean sea, while providing a perfect place to dine, or simply relax and take in the beauty. Located in a quiet neighborhood just 100 meters from the center of the village and only 50 meters from the sunset viewing point, this delightful home is the perfect place for a romantic vacation.

You can take a boat trip around the volcano, explore an archaeological excavation of a 3000 year-old civilization, or perhaps visit some cultural museums. You can tour ancient Byzantine churches and charming wineries, or go trekking along the rim of the caldera and discover its traditional villages and stunning scenery. You can also ride on a donkey to the old port where you can go on an excursion to the volcano and swim in its hot springs. There is so much to do and this is the ideal place to enjoy doing it.

All our customers receive a full featured dvd about the villa & village and the island of Santorini.

Accommodation in Athens can be provided.

    • I had the quintessential Santorini experience when I stayed at Maria's cave home in Oia. My first look at view from the terrace of her home, all I could say was “AMAZING!” The house is perched on the face of the caldera and the view is beyond description. When you stand on the terrace and look out over the water and sky you will struggle to find new words to describe the color blue and immediately drink in the essence of Oia. Outside, Maria's home borrows the soft natural colors of the island. Inside the dark wood furniture looks perfect against the crisp white walls. The bathroom is a mosaic wonder. The dome shaped room's walls are totally covered with small squares and rectangles of every color and style of tile imaginable. It is truly a work of art. One of Maria's many special touches that personalize her home and make it so comfortable and inviting. I had the house all to myself and enjoyed every minute there. At Maria's suggestion I rented a car which allowed me to explore the island on my own schedule. Driving on the island was fun and exciting. I went to Kamari, Perissa, Vlichada and Red Beach, which was my favorite beach. I drove to the light house at the opposite end of the island and to the top of the mountain where the military base is. What a fantastic view of the entire island! And that little church at the top, just lovely. I wandered around Megalochori and shopped in Fira. I went to Vourvoulos and Kouloubo beaches also. But my absolute favorite place was Amoudi Bay. I went there several days to swim and have lunch. The people at Taverna Katina, the restaurant with the orange chairs, were wonderful. I also took the boat tour to Volcano Island and swam in the hot springs. In a word the vacation was PERFECT! My stay a Maria's home offered everything I was looking from the view and location. Her many helpful suggestions for places to see and things to do were spot on. Her assistance and follow up calls were greatly appreciated. She was a wonderful hostess. As I told my friends, “How can I ever explain the feeling, describe the view or share the experience? You'll just have to go see it for yourself. I dare you.”

    • My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely "Greek Paradise in Oia." We were able to find Island Photo easily from your photos and phoned instructions and we were escorted to the house by a very courteous young man. The view is probably the most spectacular feature of the house, but the furnishings and supplies with which you have stocked it made us feel very welcome, with all the comforts of home. It was very peaceful and quiet at the house, even though we were very close to the busy shopping streets above and the sunset viewing points. We enjoyed the assortment of CD's provided, especially the bouzouki music. The most spectacular view we had during our 4-day stay was a glorious sunrise which we enjoyed from the terrace. It did, indeed, seem like Paradise!

    • Our family of 5 spent 4 days in August, 2009, in this beautiful apartment. Plenty of room, and plenty of charm! Breathtaking views and an absolutely perfect location. We found Oia to be the perfect mix of shopping and entertainment, yet peaceful at night. The proximity to viewing the Oia sunsets is quite spectacular, too!

    • We absolutely loved our stay here. It was exactly the traditional Greek Island experience that we had hoped for. The home is on the cliff overlooking the caldera and has a breathtaking view from its private veranda. The interior is well furnished and beautifully decorated. It is located in the wonderfully quaint town of Oia, where great restaurants, shops, and gorgeous sunsets are just a few steps away. The owner (Maria) was the perfect host who did everything possible to ensure that our stay was pleasant. Everything about our visit far exceeded our expectations.
