POINT OF VIEW sits on a gentle point lot with large side yard overlooking the main channel with 270 degree water views. The property has a brand new boat dock with large floating dock for swimming, entertaining, and boat/seadoo tie-up. The house has four outside entertaining areas, all with beautiful views (Lower Deck, Dining Porch, the Piazza and the Pier) and ample seating. All decking composite materials (no splinters!). The Upper Deck provides dining for 8 (a favorite spot for all meals). A picnic table and Adirondack chairs overlook the badminton set-up (for non-windy days!).
Decorated in blues, whites and yellows, the house provides a fun, upbeat, comfortable, lake house atmosphere. All flooring is new carpet, wood or tile. Bathrooms are completely remodelled.
UPSTAIRS you will find a fully equipped kitchen (with gas range), breakfast eating area, dining room, living room and Master Bedroom. The large Master Bedroom with vaulted ceiling overlooks a balcony with a wide-water view. The large Master bath is decorated with beautiful cobalt blue tiles and sinks and white cabinets. The Living Room is furnished with over-stuffed chairs, a love-seat, a "snuggler" chair which transforms into a twin bed, and a comfortable wood bench that captures the lake atmosphere. DOWNSTAIRS is the family room with TV, DVD, VCR. There, you will also find a mini-bar complete with refrigerator, sink and coffee maker and a card table. The two bedrooms both have wide water views. The Queen-bedded room is decorated in white and yellow. The large twin-bedded room (4 twins) is decorated in nautical stripes. Both of these bedrooms share an oversize bath (one sink and toilet, separated by a pocket door, and a full bath area - toilet, sink, shower/tub). The arrangement allows for multiple-person use simultaneously.
OUTSIDE: Landscape was professionally designed with beautiful walkways and tall Oak trees to provide shade. 420 feet of waterfront provide extensive privacy in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. Swimming, kayaking, docking can be launched from both the pier with seating for 8+ or from the boat dock. Badminton, a tree swing and a hammock add to the relaxing atmosphere.
KAYAKING: There are three kayaks (2 singles, 1 tandem). One fun activity is to kayak across the lake to a deserted island. There is a beach there where you can picnic.

PUBLIC BOAT RAMP: A public boat ramp with plenty of parking is approx. 2.3 miles drives from Point of View. Take the road to Crystal Shores (off of 655) and follow the signs.
FISHING: The house was televised on ESPN in 2007 during the Bassmaster Tournament, when the tournament's winner fished off the pier twice. The area is well known for its stripers. Fishing licenses are available at local retail stores.
VIDEO COLLECTION: A great collection of videos for young and old alike is available.
HISTORIC SITES: Booker T. Washington's Birthplace; Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, National D-Day Monument and Smith Mountain Lake Dam.
MORE FUN: The Ice Cream Boat, SML State Park with Nature/History Center and hiking trails, beach, picnic areas; miniature golf. If you rent a boat or seadoo, you can dock at the park and take advantage of the picnic benches and nature center.
SUMMER 2009: A brand new drive-in theater has just been built on the Bedford side, less than 10 minutes from Point of View complete with a traditional diner. More fun! (Take 655 right to 608 left).
RAINY DAYS: SML Library; Bridgewater Plaza (Halesford Bridge - 7 miles) for restaurants, shopping. Roanoke, VA (45 mins.): Art, transportation, history and science museums; Zoo; Mill Mountain hiking trails; Theater events.

- Gas Fireplace (2) : We have two gas log fireplaces (upper living room and downstairs family room). They are only operable in November and February. Thank you.

- Twin/Single Bed (5) : 4 Twin Beds make up the 2nd large-size guest room. Great for families. A "snuggler" twin sofa bed is in the upper living room.

Paula and Ed purchased Point of View in 2000 and have worked to renew it since then. Originally, it was the developer's lot for High Point. (Reportedly, it was used as the site of television commercials in the early 1970's to advertise lake living!) Paula, Ed and family and friends enjoy the lake whenever they don't have guests. Paula and Ed reside in Blacksburg, VA when they can't get out to the lake!
