A magnificent, rustic villa for rent in Santa Teresa on one of the most beautiful beachfront properties in the whole area with surfing right in front. We built La Casona with the help of skilled local carpenters of locally harvested timber, hand milled on the property.
La Casona, which means Stately Home in Spanish, is a stunning, and supremely comfortable Costa Rican Colonial style building with rustic beams, polished white concrete and teak floors, high ceilings and airy verandas that encircle the building. It has five air conditioned bedrooms all facing the pool and the ocean and 5 bathrooms. Sleeps up to 11 guests. With its magical guest house The Palm Grove, which has an additional three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the property can sleep up to 19 guests. The Palm Grove is situated on the same property and has its own pool. It is close but totally independent from La Casona.
The Hacienda rests on three and a half beach front acres. It is furnished in exotic Tropical style with beautiful and comfortable rattan sofas and armchairs and offers a fantastic chef's kitchen with professional 6-burner gas stove and huge stainless steel fridge/freezer. Many furnishings and textiles come from our travels around the world.
There is a deep pool, pool-table, day-beds and many hammocks for lounging as well as Palm-roofed Ranchos. There is a pool table and a large Yoga platform that easily accommodates twelve yogis. The beach front grounds abound with Coconut Palms, Mango trees, Papaya, Water Apple, Banana and Platano trees drawing a lot of visiting Monkeys, squirrels and exotic birds. We have our own fruit!
There is WIFI and a film screen with projector and a huge library of DVDs.
La Casona has excellent surfing right in front and our guests have a large choice of activities for all ages, from Adventure Excursions on Horseback along the beaches (We have two horses!) to flying through the tree tops on a zip line or relaxing with a massage under the palm trees or a private Yoga session at dawn or sunset. We can also provide Surf Instruction, Beauty Treatments, fishing, Horseback Riding and Meditation.
We also do Spectacular Weddings! We have an amazing Moroccan tent for large events.
Daily maid service, Laundry, Chef available by request (local Costa Rican dishes or International Cuisine). Resident Caretaker and security on the property. We can provide Baby Sitting.
LA CASONA rents for $1000-$3000 Per Night, $7000-$21,000 Per Week, depending on the number of guests and whether the guest house is included or not.

Great house & staff! I was pleased with the cleanliness and consistency of the staff...great security, always groomed grounds, and timely house keeping. The home is really special, and I was quite amazed. The owner showed a high level of concern for us having a great vacation experience by leaving us great contacts, and places to go. Santa Teresa is just such an amazing and magical place...great scenery, great places to eat, and so relaxing! We will be back! Second year in a row Swedish Cosmopolitan went here to shoot our summer fashion stories. This is the most wonderful place, like coming to paradise. The house, the beach front villa: La Casona is totaly amasing. Best place ever!!.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

When I think now of my favorite place in the world my mind instantly travels to La Casona. It is the most beautiful and exotic place tucked in a place that is just paradise. I stayed for a week with my family and closest friends and had my wedding on beach and our reception at the house. It was fantastic and Anna, her family and work crew did everything to make sure things ran so smoothly it was the most magical week of my life. Anna turned out to be my wedding goddess and helped me with everything to the extent where I didnt need a wedding planner and everything went smoothly and it was more beautiful than I had ever imagined. I could not recommend or praise this slice of secret heaven enough. Anyone who stays there can be counted among the lucky. There is the most amazing cook if you would like one, the staff keeps the house in perfect shape and did so much for my wedding- the staff is just incredible. Your in easy walking distance of great restaurants, grocery store, bank, beach, surfing and easy public transportation. Anna and her staff will help arrange whatever you are interested and suddenly so all your travel worries dissipate. The area draws the most interesting people from all over the world and yet remains hidden. Being there makes you feel like you stumbled on to a secret paradise that only a few people get to experience. Staying on that beach for 2 weeks and in La Casona for one was enough to snag our heart. Like many people in the area we are already planning our trip back and are counting down the days!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We rented both LaCasona and Palm Grove for my entire family and 11 grandchildren over Thanksgiving in 2010. The beautiful houses with their lovely swimming pools were fabulous and private surrounded by exquisite landscaping leading down to the stunning beach. The waves were fantastic for the expert surfers, but also gentle enough for the beginners and much delight for the body surfers as well. The grocery store was conveniently located across the street at the end of the driveway. We did not find a car necessary as we walked everywhere. Some rented bikes. We even went zip-lining across the jungle 20 minutes out of town by taxi. Anna, the owner, was most helpful and fun. A most delightful and fantastic time had by all; a perfect vacation! Having never been to Costa Rica we had read reviews of La Casona - and the house, beach front position, pool, yoga 'house' and garden were even more wonderful than we had expected. Photographs just cannot do this place justice. It is all previous reviewers have said and more..Santa Theresa has so many charming restaurants which make eating out such fun and not expensive and the French Bakery opposite has the best croissants and bread. We had such a healthy holiday, yoga in the morning, fabulous surfing, beach walking for miles with reward cocktails on the way back to the incredible sunsets every evening. Loved the local markets and even went to a typical village ferria and rodeo. Already planning our return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I usally do not take the time to write reviews like these (shame on me), however a really awesome experience calls for an exception ;-) I stayed with a number of friends for a week at La Casona, a week of best living possible. Surrounded by great nature one truly get to experience something different from home. Peaceful and perfect solitude but at the same time very near to where the action is. In fact, in addition to this amazing house (as pics shows) all u need are right there or just a few breaths away. Simply walk the amazing garden down to the beach to surf one of the best breaks in the area, it's right there. To hit the restaurants one just walk the garden the other direction and there's plenty good ones to choose from. (overall the food in the area really amazed me) Probably no need to mention but all things worked flawless during our visit. Whatever we needed the staff did their best jobb to make sure to help us out. Even when we had managed to lock us out middle of the night they came to our rescue. In other words a great house for any occasion!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

we arrived tired , exhausted having left the dark cold grey days of england and found paradise . beaches that stretched into the distance, white sands, rolling surf to entice us into its waves, yoga meditation in a pavillion to still lour overloaded minds. horses to ride along side the seas that beckonened us to enjoy its sweet offerings , a house which was so elegant likes its owner , comfortable surroundings in keeping with the naturel habitat, monkeys to entertain us as they played in the trees surrounding the house and pool areas , restaurants \, local shops, massages, all within walking distance la casona ... beautifully decorated , comfortable ,all up to date mod cons. the pool area clean welcoming , to read a book undisturbed in the shade provided by the naturel habitat on luxurious beds, to shower the salt from the swims in the ocean off in order to relax and enjoy the silence where the waters flow freely. I could not reccomend this property more highly as a winter retreat I for one will be back as soon as possible .Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The kitchen is my favourite place. So tastefully decorated. The pool and the little trail towardsthe beach is amazing. The outdoor yogafacility is just the icing on the cake. All rooms are so nice and comfortable and the bathrooms have the standard of a five star hotel. Truly a house I will rent again and again and again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: Here I am with my Coconut! I am Swedish/British, a former journalist, designer and globetrotter. I and my family have lived in Stockholm, London, Paris, The Napa Valley (in the Wine business) and in wonderful San Francisco. I Speak English, French, German, Swedish and Spanish. Our whole family surfs and rides our beautiful horses on the beach. We own two more beachfront properties, the romantic Bungalow Supervista and the huge Sea Ranch, Papa Pochote, but La Casona is our Castle! We take very good care of our guests and have the highest standards regarding discretion, privacy, comforts and pleasure. We love Costa Rica and searched high and low in South America, Central America and the Caribean until we found Paradise here in Santa Teresa. Pura Vida!

Our property is blessed with at least 30 Mango trees, an abundance of Coconut Palms and many other fruit trees which all draw monkeys, exotic birds and squirrels. We are close to the shops but still totally private and protected on our huge secret estate. We have fantastic surf in front of the house and a beautiful Yoga Platform overlooking the waves.
